I feel like stewie is kind of the mcgregor of csgo. Had a quick and uncommon way to the top. Revolutionized the game and drew alot of attention to it and himself. And had a polarizing and unfavorable exit out the sport. But i think he was great for the scene just like conor and his legacy stands for itself
@@HerbaceousM8 Yeh you’re right but I don’t think his style revolutionised the pro scene because most of the time you’ll get punished. Also mcgregor went out wearing his heart on his sleeve, but stewie went out with a whimper. Totally giving up and acting unprofessionally. Stewie also not close to mcgregor in skill level in their respective fields
Hurt my NA heart to see how things transpired on his time in EG. My favorite NA player of all time. Not sure if he's willing to come back to CS, but NA CS just feels different without him in it. He was NA CS personified in my eyes.
the way stew went out of the scene is extremely unfortunate. i think he may have lost the drive to grind the game somewhere during the covid years. you can’t deny the impact he has had on the scene and he will always be considered an NA legend
We can hope that at IEM dallas this year, Stewie is 1. on G2 standing-in for Hooxi, 2. Makes it to playoffs, and 3. Making a massive impact and improvement on the team and forcing the G2 lads to actually consider whether or not Hooxi is worth keeping.
Much respect Lau. I’m glad you’re able to make this video, provide your analysis, and knowledge on Stew. Stew was the reason I really started playing CSGO. He’s an NA great and will always be remembered as a big part in the only NA 2018 Boston Major win.
It's insane to me just how complicated everyone tried to make Stewie's playstyle. Like you mentioned, he's an amazing hybrid and support caller. He can calm everyone's nerves but he's not an IGL, Stewie2k naturally is just one of the smartest players in CS:GO's history, and yet everyone tried to make him the primary Awper, shot caller or IGL and told him "this is your primary role" never realizing they were always plugging him into the wrong one. The way Stewie has built his fast paced style and flair is that of a ridiculously versatile support player who plays extremely well as an entry fragger especially when optimizing his quick decision making and ability to gain and gather info, the traits that make him one of the most invaluable and smartest players during his playing time. Making the right calls and being perfectly equipped to alleviate pressure off his teammates and give them the mental edge they needed is just a natural gift of his but it's clear when you look at that aspect of his during his time as a player that you take that as a bonus to his game and not as something to make him a primary IGL. He isn't one of those pieces you make the cornerstone of your squad and build around, he's one of the pieces that you plug in to surround that cornerstone you're building around. He played entry fragger for MIBR in his short stint and was part of the last Brazilian squad to win a S-tier event, he played support in Team Liquid and was part of a squad that captured the #1 spot in the middle of the Astralis dynasty alongside being the 2nd team to ever win an Intel Grand Slam from a pool of only 4 squads to ever win it. Go futher before that, in 2016 C9 won Pro League with Stewie playing behind Skadoodle and Shroud who were the cornerstone's of that team at the time with n0thing on the way out. In 2018 he won the f*cking Major playing entry/support, although he did it on a whole other world than usual. There was no one single player who C9 could really turn to during that entire run so in turn the whole squad lifted themselves and the one who cemented his moment, one of the most important moments of CS:GO's history, was Stewie. Every player on that squad was playing insane and to get as far as they did, they absolutely needed to, but after that, Stewie was the guy that caught everyone's attention and how could it not. However, looking at that run objectively, Stewie was a support player. Even in the B-Site hold, he was playing support lying on the B-bombsite as defence. His highs were of such unbelievable statures that it made it seem like he was a promised CS:GO deity and to NA he probably was, but when the magnified quantity of his image and play is adjusted relative to the CS:GO scope outside NA, Stewie hits more like how Friberg did for NIP. He definitely had moments that are amongst the greatest in Counter Strike's history, but the times he made magic happen and won a trophy was when he was put in a position to do what he does best which is playing support behind his teammates, entry fragging and gathering info while making quick reads and calls for his team and being able to weather any storm they would go through to maintain their vibes in the moment. Stewie is one of the most impactful players in CS history no doubt about it, but he is also undoubtedly an Entry Fragger/Support with the heart of a champion and the mind of a team player who just so happens managed to also become a top 15 player in the game's history, look at it however way you want those fact don't change. Stewie2k wasn't good at CS:GO, he was GREAT at CS:GO.

Thankfully, I have people like you that brings these videos that them definitely help. This is Stewie2k used to be so hyped on my Twitter bubble, and now he just kinda disappeared
I think the passion to win is what sometimes can ruin the chemistry on a team. When things are going right, I'm sure Stewie is a great guy to have on your team. But when you are that passionate about something and you aren't winning, it's hard not to let those negative emotions shine through. S1mple is the same way, not toxic because he's a bad guy but because he loves and understands the game like few others do.
Great Vid lau, stewie deserves a lot of respect. Man completely changed CS. I haven’t respected a single smoke in the server since 2016. Neither has anyone else. 😂
I think this type of video was needed. You nailed everything on the head: from the way people remember stewie as he left the scene, to what his tenure in csgo really was. Stewie may be a tough person to be on a team with is what it seemed, but he definitely deserves the respect for the grind and accomplishments he had

great vid lau, just one detail: you mentioned twice that twistzzz only matched stewie's accomplishments (in terms of having a major + grand slam and arguably in terms of being the most decorated NA player) when he won his grand slam #2 recently, but twistzz already had a major and grand slam last year after antwerp
