I took an Advance for a test drive, loved it , and bought one. Your review is spot-on and I agree with everything you said about the car. It's worth every penny. Many thanks!
A very detailed and informative review. Thank you. This is an amazing car with great handling (as you would expect from Honda), fantastic fuel economy and an excellent build quality. I swapped my Skoda Octavia Vrs for the Advance model in Sonic Grey and I have not been disappointed. I have never bought a Honda before and I suspect I will one of many “conquest” purchases. Keep up the excellent independent reviews. It is always good to see a review which is not just a sponsored advert!!
I am literally in the same boat. About to part ex my 2014 occy tdi estate. Im hoping this is as good as tbe reviews say..... Sporty, practical, economical, family car thats great to drive! You enjoyed it in comparison?
Super Review, brief an to the point. Being HONDA BIAS, since 2005, obviously I can only agree with your comments....I must, however, add the following for those Motorists out there that are still uncertain about which vehicle manufacturer to head for. Since my 2005 Honda Accord, 3 x CR-V, Jazz, CIVIC 10th Series, now a Hybrid CR-V, I have NEVER experienced one issue or problems, NOT ONE. my Wife has a simply Stunning 2010 Honda CR-Z hybrid, (Manual 6 Speed), Sport...again NOT ONE issue of concern, added to which the mileage figures are around 44mpg...(I get 42/46 mpg from my CR-V Hybrid)...so I am more than certain the figures quoted of 50mpg + for the NEW CIVIC are going to be correct. Granted...HONDA VEHICLES are a little more expensive to purchase, initially, but when you weigh this up with continuous TROUBLE FREE, comfortable Motoring to "Sums" even out very quickly. Enjoy...G.A.R.
@@SimonPrew Cheers Simon...the CR-V Hybrid Transmission/Transfer system is actually identical to that of the 11th Gen CIVIC...,you may have misinterpreted the CR-Z which, correctly, is a "World away" from the 2021 onwards systems, which now include the JAZZ, HR-V, with the 1.5 litre Atkinson engine.. the new ZR-V has the 2.0 litre. Bought the base Elegance model in blue metallic for £29500 with 5 years free servicing. Main reason was for the 17" wheels which gives the car a great ride and lower road noise than the 18" demonstrator I tried. The Elegance is still very well equipped and I didn't think the few extras on the sport such as 1/2 leather seats was worth it and the only reason for getting the top Advance model is the pano sunroof and leather seats that I think are not genuine leather. Apparently this now retails for £40,000 if you spec with metallic paint ! It has taken 9months for the car but worth the wait. Unfortunately the Elegance is not currently available to order and its not on the configurator. The car is brilliant in all the ways you pointed out in your video.
Hi, I bought the sport version but never tried the elegance as this is not for testing. I'm thinking to buy the 17 inch alloys from Elegance as winter wheels and if they are better than the 18 I'll keep the 17 for the entire year. Since I did not had the chance to go with Elegance...is it true that the road noise is less present in the cabin with the 17 inch wheels? thank you in advance! Cheers
@@alexandrulujanschi5192 . I'm going from memory from trying the sport about 9 months ago, so hardly a side by side comparison but I would definitely say that the ride is more comfortable and road noise is lower on the 17" wheels. However another variable is the tyres were Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on the Sport and Michelin Primacy on the Elegance. It might be down to the tyre type as I do find Pilot sports can be a bit noisy on other cars I've driven.
@@BalazsDrSchäfer hi, yes I did, it's amazingly better than the 18 wheels, I'll keep the 17 for summer also. It's clear that 17 are for comfort and 18 for grip and sport senzations (if you can live with them).
It is a nice and great presentation or talk from the person well explaining the features of the car in a very nice and quiet way I really appreciated him 👍
Exactly the car i am getting at the end of the month, Jim. Currently own a FK8, but when my dealer asked me to test drive the EHEV i was very impressed. Not only did it have some punch, but the handling was very impressive taking corners with no body roll and no understeer. Also the Advance comes with a nice 12 speaker Bose and panoramic roof plus other goodies. The 0-60 has been timed at under 7 secs which is pretty impressive. Icing on the cake, mpg 55-65.
I bought one yesterday, and on the test drive I asked the salesman about the 0 to 60 time as it felt much faster than the published figure, he just looked at me and winked, which says it all.
Had mine since September last year in blue, got the advance trim. Great car and good handling, carwow did a 0-60 in 6.7 not to bad at all. Enjoy your car.@@pillred5974
I've had mine for a good few months and it's absolutely brilliant, fortunately I got mine back when the list price was £36,920 all in with the premium blue colour 😂
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru To be honest I hadn't seen the blue in the flesh until it got delivered, it needs to be seen to be fully appricated for how good of a blue it is easily the best option colour wise
Thanks Jim. I'm glad Honda are keeping up with the pricier opposition 😍🤩 I do love that colour too...I even have to acknowledge the blue is better than what a red might be...but only on this occasion 😉
We've had the civic hybrid sport in crystal blue metallic since the end of June and its a brilliant car. Economy and performance very surprising. As others have said the prices have increased already!
What’s the ground clearance on this car like? Seems a little too low. Can it mount the kerb when parking in marked bays. And what about high speed bumps? Do you need to drive carefully, especially when the car is fully loaded?
I've owned mine for 8 months now. Yes, it's quite low and I've scraped the tarmac a handful of times when entering/exiting steep driveways. The suspension is fantastic, especially at speed. Really well engineered. Brilliant around corners, too. The low ground clearance is an occasional minor annoyance for me. Other than that it's a seriously excellent car. I even managed to transport a new 65 inch tv in the back with the rear seats down. Simply cannot do that in a Mazda3 or Audi A3.
After 8 months, I am finding that longer distance driving has become much, much less tiring because of the seamless drive train, the radar-activated distance separation, lane sensor and the ability to control speed with the flick of a singe finger. Oh, and the torque off the double electric motors is astonishing.
Looks a great car Jim. Ive ran Hondas for the lasy 15 year's and i can honestly say they are the best cars I've ever owned. Just switched to Toyota because Honda stopped manufacturing in the UK. Its just a me thing that i like to support companies that actually manufacture in the UK.
I have a new crv hybrid with set up as the Civic can you stop the car leave it in drive or reverse and just switch off the power button mine seems to put it into park when you do this am I doing something wrong. This was the system I used in my Peugeot 3008 when shutting the engine off
Totally agree with everything said but wish Honda hadn't increased the price recently... By the way I think it's synthetic leather - which is usually better than real hide.... The blue is very nice and best appreciated on real life..
One of the best none performance cars on the market today. Shame about the price. Its 41k new which is eye watering for a civic, and still 35k with a few miles on it in advanced. Which is more than it was new at release! Its gone up 5k
It seems that all car testers have to wave the left hand around and stare at the camera. Not really keeping safe and a driving test fail. A good commentary though 9/10
I got into one and I didn't like the materials and especially the seats. It's so hard to make good seats, because you always have to sit in them... And a fine armrest, for example, as if you have stones in your elbow on a long drive.... 😮pfff
I have this car in the same colour. I must say, it’s very, very good.
It really is an awesome car! 😎
