Mrs johnstone Only mine until The time comes round To pay the bill. Then I'm afraid. What can't be paid Must be returned. You never, ever learn, That nothing's yours, On easy terms. Only for a time, I must not learn, To call you mine. Familiarise That face, those eyes Make future plans That cannot be confirmed On borrowed time, On easy terms. Living on the never never, Constant as the changing weather, Never sure Who's at the door Or the price I'll have to pay Should we meet again I will not recognise your name. You can be sure What's gone before Will be concealed. Your friends will never learn That once we were On easy terms. Living on the never never, Constant as the changing weather, Never sure Who's at the door Or the price I'll have to pay... Mrs lyons They're born, you didn't notify me. Mrs johnstone Couldn't I keep them for a few more days, They're a pair, they go together. Mrs lyons My husband is due back tomorrow, mrs. johnstone. I must have my baby we made an agreement, A bargain. you swore on the bible. Mrs johnstone You'd better see which one you want Mrs lyons I'll take... Mrs johnstone No. don't tell me which one. just take him, Justtake him Living on the never never, Constant as the changing weather, Never sure Who's at the door Or the price I'll have to pay, Should we meet again...
A fantastic performance but no one could do this better than the first and the original Mrs J - the incomparable Barbara Dickson. Chosen by Willy Russell and the winner of an Olivier Award for her performance she starred in the wonderful original Liverpool production which was dark and menacing - a world away from the anaemic Bill Kenwright revival which, unfortunately, became a template for subsequent productions. Blood Brothers owes much to Will Russell’s passion for folk music - the whole narrative is written in the traditional folk ballad format - so Dickson’s own background in and passion for folk music gave her performance a unique and extraordinary quality.
Oooh I much prefer the way Bill has adapted it!! Just my opinion but I think the music arrangement and set really bring out the true atmosphere of this story. Also Barbara D was very good but acting through song has improved a lot over the years from other various mrs Johnstone’s. Lyn Paul is the icing on the cake I think when it comes to the acting and voice in my opinion. I do love listening to my record of Barbara though hehe:)

Goosebumps...memories of when I saw the show a few months ago. She is the best Mrs J by miles!!
Simply the best Mrs J EVER!! So pleased I got to see her numerous times in this role.
A voice like an Angel that small yodel makes her stand out above all the others! Pure vocal and acting class.
I saw Lynn perform this years ago and she is the best. Great song.
I saw her in Blood Brothers at Rhyl Pavilion. I was totally moved by her performance, just brilliant! 😊
Saw her last year in November on her last tour. She was amazing and only seeing it once she is my favourite mrs johnstone
LYN - the BEST Mrs. J. EVER !
HOLY SHIT I SAW HER IN BRADFORD PERFORMING THIS.
She was the best!
Good voice, better, has become deeper over the years..
Mrs johnstone
Only mine until
The time comes round
To pay the bill.
Then I'm afraid.
What can't be paid
Must be returned.
You never, ever learn,
That nothing's yours,
On easy terms.
Only for a time,
I must not learn,
To call you mine.
Familiarise
That face, those eyes
Make future plans
That cannot be confirmed
On borrowed time,
On easy terms.
Living on the never never,
Constant as the changing weather,
Never sure
Who's at the door
Or the price I'll have to pay
Should we meet again
I will not recognise your name.
You can be sure
What's gone before
Will be concealed.
Your friends will never learn
That once we were
On easy terms.
Living on the never never,
Constant as the changing weather,
Never sure
Who's at the door
Or the price I'll have to pay...
Mrs lyons
They're born, you didn't notify me.
Mrs johnstone
Couldn't I keep them for a few more days,
They're a pair, they go together.
Mrs lyons
My husband is due back tomorrow, mrs. johnstone.
I must have my baby we made an agreement,
A bargain. you swore on the bible.
Mrs johnstone
You'd better see which one you want
Mrs lyons
I'll take...
Mrs johnstone
No. don't tell me which one. just take him,
Justtake him
Living on the never never,
Constant as the changing weather,
Never sure
Who's at the door
Or the price I'll have to pay,
Should we meet again...
no one to touch her
so sad
