The years just fell away... I remember hearing this on the TV as I was on my way out to play a gig. The kids, my wife and I were spellbound! Now the kids are in all 4 corners of the globe, my wife died and there's only me "on stage". To say this brings back memories would be an understatement. Simply beautiful ...
One of the most beautiful voices I have heard. The lady was born to sing !
I saw this on saturday and Nicki Evans was fantastic, she did a wonderful job ^^
And Barbara Dicksons voice is just..beautiful :)
I saw this on Friday evening! And oh my God! How good is this!
Deep yet light enough to get us to laugh at some of the antics.
I saw the Lady who was in the X Factor Finals play Mrs. Johnstone yesterday, and she was absolutely incredible!
Blood Brothers
Wow, how lovely. From one Dickson to another I'm glad that you and the group are very good. Brava!
Loved the 'Blood Brothers' musical
lovely song love it barbra dickson sings it lovely
Ah big hair, beautiful voice, beautiful. song, beautiful lady. What's not to like?
Beautiful!
I watched the latest one by Niki Evans and Stephen Palfreman when I was in London. It's awesome!
Good music, strong emotions, but tragic story though
amazing!!!
chilling!
I was expecting to hear Mrs. Lyons interrupt her with, "They're born! You didn't notify me!"
Mrs. J: "Well.. I... just.. couldn't I keep them for a few more days, please? Please? They're a pair - they go together."
Mrs. L: "My husband's due back tomorrow, Mrs. Johnstone. I must have my baby! We made an agreement - a bargain. You swore on the Bible!"
Mrs. J: "You'd better... you'd better see which one you want."
Mrs. L: "I'll take..."
Mrs. J: "NO! Don't tell me which one! Just take him.. take him.."
I've listened to the original cast album so many times, this song seems wrong without it. Barbara Dickson was the original Mrs. Johnstone and the best, as far as I'm concerned.
oh wow melanie c is going to be playing her in london this year! I dont know much about the play but i hope she can pull it off.
This was a studio recording for a Channel 4 series called "Ladybirds". On the programme, at the end of the song, Willy Russell walks on stage and says "Crap"!
I know it doesnt sound very discerning, but I have seen Barbara, Helen Reddy, Kiki Dee and Lyn Paul all play this part, all good (toss up between Barbra and Lyn who was the best on stage)! This show is so 'English' and packs such an emotional punch, I take all my American friends to see it when they visit London (I also saw Stehanie Lawrence do it on Broadway). Pity it looks so cheap on stage - Bill Kenwright must have made millions over the years.
Great
@TheWestendboy
No he doesn't - I've got the show on video. What's interesting is why you would say that?
He did say - jokingly - crap after Barbara's performance on the South Bank Show programme devoted to him.
Yeah Niki Evans!
She was so perfect for that part :]
Mel C was brilliant at singing this!
No! She wasn’t brilliant. Brilliant is when you have a unique gift like Barbara Dickson’s voice....not when you have an ok voice and sing like a karaoke performer
