Jazz music is vast and i would still call this jazz at it fullest and most abstract. People saying it not jazz don't have a wide enough scope.

Halo ODST actually brought me here. I was struggling to find a genre befitting of "Deference for Darkness", but I think this works well. That feeling of calmness in isolation, a sort of abandoned, alone feeling.
Same here! I started appreciating jazz music more thanks to ODST, especially the dark kind of jazz like this that make you feel alone but calm and relaxed.

Honestly, I wanna see the ever lost film style of Horror Noir.
Its like Silent Hill meets Dick Tracie, maybe even some Sin City edge.
P.I. gets a case in looking for someone in a town that has a dark side.
Just like the normal silent hill, but with a guilt noir feel in it here & there.
Lingo and narration & everything, even a slight monochrome cinematic edge to it.

Yeah it’s hard to say if it qualifies as jazz or a sub genre of jazz or more likely a subversion of jazz using some jazz like techniques. I dunno. I don’t know what else to call it though, so I say darkjazz I guess. But it doesn’t really remotely resemble miles Davis or Chet Baker in any conceivable way except that some of the same instruments are used.

Not sure what genre of dark jazz this is, but it sounds nothing similar to most bebop, swing, jazz-funk, and ragtime which I usually listen to; it's definitely ambient.

There's a sense of both peace, and conflict in this music. Like you're entering into the fulcrum of a large event in your life. It pulls your heart in different directions and sends shivers down your skin. Music is yet another form of expression, and sometimes, more effective than words at conveying meaning and symbolism for those who know how to listen for it. In light of these observations, I would say that this music is like those moments when you have so many things to say, but not the right words to say them with. And that's deeply, beautifully expressed. Encore.
