Wow, I took a break from some of the dark ambient stuff. Popped back into this channel for the first time in a few months and this is what was uploaded TODAY. Awesome mix. Thanks.
It seemed like any other Tuesday to me; dark, stormy, the dim lights of the city glowing in the fog from the rain. I came to like nights like that, otherworldly yet familiar with a sense of calm. It was those kinds of nights where you could be alone with only your thoughts to keep you company. The rain pattered quietly against the window of my office, thunder in the distance. The small lamp illuminating the desk on which it sat, a haze in the room's air, and I, lounging back in the chair, hat lowered as I rested my eyes, listening to the quiet stillness. That certain kind of stillness where you don't know if you're feeling what you're feeling or hearing what you're hearing, or if you're even alone. A knock on my door. Unexpected, but not out of the ordinary. Jarred out of the stillness, I rose from my chair and bid the source of the knock a moment. I lifted my hat from my brow to it's usual respective position, and that's when I saw the source of the knock. Through the glass of my door, the dim hallway behind a dark figure; tall, dressed, sharp hat as like mine. Many gentlemen come for my help, why should this be any different? As I approached the door to allow the guest entry, I could see the figure pull a pipe from its large coat but the figure's face was still darkened. Here, I opened the door for the guest as a lighted match was produced, illuminating everything in the vicinity, including the face of the guest. Male, pale complexion, clean, aged slightly, and wet, from the weather, wondered I. I bade the guest entrance, to which he slowly entered. Water slowly dripping from the guest's coat and hat, quite a rain storm. I offered the guest a seat in front of the dimly lit desk, to which he silently seated himself. To my chair behind the desk I went, business to be done, as always. The guest sat upright as a board, straight and unmoving, calmly smoking his pipe as the smoke wafted into the air. I bid the guest to tell me his name, to which he responded quietly. For a time, the guest and I spoke, the guest's voice becoming more clear. Wanting my services, did he, many do, as a detective am I, a solver of things unsolved. The guest inquired if I would help to solve a disappearance that occurred some time ago. A strange case, it was; ruled as drowning, but no sign of the victim, only his clothes found near the shore. A bolt of lighting flashed, illuminating the entire office. Briefly, the guest's coat saw I, it was still dripping wet. Some time we had been talking, dry it would've been. I inquired about the guest's still wet clothes, to which he responded in a voice that defies description; as if sound itself was played through an old record player under a deep ocean. The guest rose slowly from his seat and began to remove his hat. Another flash of lighting, the guest's face now fully illuminated. Sunken in, eyes blackened, skin as dark and blue as the ocean itself; the drowned man! Awoken. In my office. Alone. A dream. Voices and a record player down the hall. Yes, these kinds of nights one can be alone with only your thoughts to keep you company in the stillness. That certain kind of stillness where you don't know if you're feeling what you're feeling, hearing what you're hearing, or if you really are alone.
