I think that the best way to describe the internet generation’s obsession with vaporwave/synthwave etc is.. We’re trying to feel the nostalgia of a time we’ve never expierenced ourselves, so we create our own past. We’re distorting the existing past and forming it to our ways. We think about that past as a place without no worries, no negativity, an imaginary world full with bright neon lights and early CGI, because there can be no bad vibes in a dream world. And this music is all the emotions we feel put in to sound waves, making us dwell deeper in to the nostalgia trip. By listening to this we’re trying to quench our thirst for this time but we’re just fueling it more and more.
All of this makes so much damn sense. The mental illustrations we paint upon cerebral landscapes can be very much in our own favor, especially when colored with nostalgia.
Tbh I was born 2002, so I grew up with like, the inbetween of now and 90s stuff. I don't listen to vaporwave or like the art because of false nostalgia tho, I just like it. Granted, I share some of the real nostalgia, specifically with Nintendo 64, but most my child hood revolved around things that were more real 90s/early 2000s. (Stepmania, CN city bumpers on cartoon network, N64, Old CGI movies, I-spy computer games, lego racers 2). So I still have the equipment/programs of the time and I don't feel nostalgia really. It's really just fun. I like it :P

life is not always easy! but it is very beautiful my friend. i don't think music is an unhealthy way to cope with things at all! its an escape from the world and brings everybody together :) don't just use escapes as your only way of feeling better though, it may be hard to see the beauty of life when life is shrouded in a dark cloud of sadness, but as long as you have that image in your mind that life is beautiful, you just might not feel too bad anymore. remind yourself of the purposes to keep going and just use that to keep on living, give yourself things to make yourself happy and don't tire yourself out. best of luck to you

Seriously, If Vaporwave gets anymore AESTHETIC the U.S. gov't might mistakenly label it a hard psychedelic drug or something.
These songs mean a lot to me, last year I was crossing the most strange places inside myself and this album was like my candle in the dark, it’s visual, it’s vibrating, it goes on places that i can’t put into words
A RUclipsr called Solar Sands made a video about Liminal spaces and used Bonita Camisa in one part of the video. That’s what brought me here, and I must say that this album is so strangely beautiful to listen to. It feels like it’s nostalgic for a time I really never lived, I don’t know how to describe it. Bonita Camisa kind of feels out of place almost, but not in a bad way. I think the effect of the song was to take you somewhere away from where the other songs brought you, maybe to a tropical island? I feel like that was what Windows96 was trying to get at but I’ve imprinted my mind with images of empty “liminal space” houses and such because of that Solar Sands video that the song just feels nostalgic and slightly reminiscent of a past that didn’t exist. The song kind of makes me just sink into my thoughts and see pictures in my head of liminal spaces while I listen to it. It’s quite a strange effect. So I guess, thanks to Solar for showing me that song because it is very beautiful and gives me feelings I honestly can’t identify. And thank you Windows96 for making this beautiful album. I listened to it this summer while I just played with my dog in my backyard and it was so beautiful to listen to.
It's funny, because Bonita Camisa means "Nice Shirt" or "Beautiful Shirt" in Spanish. Although it might mean something similar in portuguese since Windows 96 is Brazilian.
OOOH I lvoe liminal spaces which one is your favourite? mine is in the former soviet union its called KRABUSHANKEAVLOV in eastern novgorad oblast, urssia and i tihnk you should visit :)
It gets wayyy better lol, as long as you actually make an effort to improve yourself that is, that's the important part. I remember going for long walks away from the school during lunch cause I have nobody to sit with, or just feeling constantly anxious and sad. Look forwards to being a young adult, whoever you are
This artwork is amazing, this is what I have been looking for. I constantly obsess about my own artwork because I am never satisfied with it. It is on my mind day and night, it's like my head is being split open. I realize this obsession with mastering my craft has actually become unhealthy but I don't care about that. My salvation and my damnation are one and the same. Because when I am creating my art it feels exactly like this music, I'm just floating and completely lost in it. All my worries about work, school, family, friends, and the future all just go away for a short time. And for that brief moment I am taken back to my childhood where I'm sitting at my 1st grade desk and I'm putting my imaginations onto paper with a box of Crayola crayons. Back to a time where I could breathe in the air and everything was much simpler. I don't have anything else to say.
This album is an unbelievably pleasant experience. I honestly can’t pick my favorite song, but I think the final track is such a perfect conclusion with the interstellar, nostalgic feel.
Exodium transition to Venus aire is perfect. I liked to listen to this album to get to this part, smoke a cigarrette and feel sad... I no longer smoke... there's only one thing left.
I’ve listened to the whole album through several times. There is a deeply indescribable, dreamlike existential knowing that this entire work helps me come to terms with. I sincerely thank you for sharing this creation with us.
Time slips away so quickly. I remember back in 2009-2008, "Vaporwave" was just coalescing into a definable genre. I was halfway through university when it arrived to NYC, and it was so magical to experience. For many millennials, Vaporwave is a remix of what the world looked, felt, and sounded like during our early childhoods.
This is what I would consider to be true vaporwave, the different variable of intruments being used in such a creative way with the old school vibes. The sounds overlap eachother so perfectly and the synth sounds are not excessively used. I've listened to so much ''vaporwave'' where it's just the same basic 2 synth notes being repeated over and over, or the worst one yet; a normal song that's just slowed down and then gets slapped with the vaporwave label. I feel like Windows 96 definitely solidifies vaporwave as a genre, truly a masterpiece. at least in my opinion.
me: i want to die me after listening to enchanted instrumentals and whispers: i want to swim in a secret isolated cave with a shore and dozens of poplars with yellow-green leaves and grey trunks inside. blue faint light illuminating every corner, shading the cave in a way it looks like an endless void. violet mist covering the moss and rocks , creating an ethereal aura. water pouring through openings between the rocks, cascading like transparent curtains. crystals on the roof of the cave reflecting their colours to the mirror-like water. i want to float there until i feel nothing but total inner tranquillity. i want to get the closest i can to becoming one with nature
I have synesthesia, which means I naturally create images in my mind from, in my case, music. Basically, I can see music. This music is some of the most visually interesting I've ever seen, err, heard.
I was, of course, born in the early 2000's and have no firsthand experience with the 90's, however this music feels so nostalgic and makes me feel a sense of security
I really love how music makes me feel. I think that's why instrumentals always hit the best for. All the small ticks, pop, and winds with a scent of handpan.
Warming up my inkjet, watching it swing it's IKEA cabinet loose with the vibrations, and huffing the new cardstock fumes of the free AOL samples I picked out the mailbox. H *_Cranberry shag orgasmically caressing my toes, pastel lime green walls sedate my eyelids, and pink floral bathroom tile numbs my anus..._*
This phrase "nostalgic for the present" is truly inspiring. I want to live my life with that feeling, getting lost in the memories that are currently being made. Looking at the moment you are in with a colored lens. What's right in front of you is often more mystifying than anything else, if you choose to look closely.
@@DungeonClimber Yes, Thank you. That's exactly what I meant. You only have this moment, past and future are imaginary. When you see that, how sweet to be here now. Tbh dmt for some reason I feel strengthened this feeling given that it reaaally puts you in the present. Highly recommend it at least once. All the love to you my precious human.
Windows96 does an interesting job at vaporwave.. For example, Macintosh plus put us in that place by taking a dreamy song and making it a million times dreamier. 猫 シ Corp. puts you in that place by *literally* putting you there with sound effects, etc. Saint pepsi (not true vw, I know) capitalizes on the Japanese craze of the 80s/90s. But Windows96 creates these soundscapes from who-knows-what, and throws you into an emotional/mental/physical state of nostalgia without your permission. Unexplainable and impressive. 식료품groceries also has an interesting and similar way of doing this.
I play this song when i'm studying or when its rainy. This song helps stay calm when i start to get mad or panic. Thank you for making this, really appreciate it. :-)
This album is like a spiritual journey in the bizarre realms of your dreams. Very mysterious and nostalgic. I've been there myself. The album cover explains it all. One Hundred Mornings and Enchanted Instrumental and Whispers are by far Windows 96's greatest works.

@@chr0mep0p What can I say? Sometimes I can get a little lost in the aesthetic ocean that is Vaporwave. It was late-night when I wrote that, and my mind was numb to it. Lamao. Seriously, If Vaporwave gets anymore AESTHETIC the U.S. gov't might mistakenly label it a hard psychedelic drug or something.
@@ianian4162 I know that feel too well lmaoo
"I never really wanted to be anything, I just wanted to be. It seems that's not really allowed." - I forgot
I listened to it this summer while I just played with my dog in my backyard and it was so beautiful to listen to.
wait me too- that's why I am here as well lol
That’s how I got here too, m very happy that I did :]
bonita camisa is inspired on brazilian bossa nova
It's funny, because Bonita Camisa means "Nice Shirt" or "Beautiful Shirt" in Spanish. Although it might mean something similar in portuguese since Windows 96 is Brazilian.
OOOH I lvoe liminal spaces which one is your favourite? mine is in the former soviet union its called KRABUSHANKEAVLOV in eastern novgorad oblast, urssia and i tihnk you should visit :)
just secretly cried while eating a salad at my school lunch, this helped my anxiety
It gets wayyy better lol, as long as you actually make an effort to improve yourself that is, that's the important part. I remember going for long walks away from the school during lunch cause I have nobody to sit with, or just feeling constantly anxious and sad. Look forwards to being a young adult, whoever you are
was the salad good?
must be some spicy salad
@@konan8353 Very true.
Hang on, it will be just a bad dream soon enough
I can feel the beat in my brain and it sounds like its echoing throughout my mind. unexplainable feeling.
i can't be the only one getting earthbound vibes
At 7:55 ish
@@jflaoeal It's the whole time for me honestly. The way he uses droning synths sounds very reminiscent of the Earthbound soundfont.
@@wish-pieces nah i def hear it too. its the bendy-ness of the main melody in the first song for sure that does it for me
is this why i like this so much lol?
BRO IS DIS ERFBOUND????
I love that
did you also listen to Make Art Not Content?
the opening of deep swim gives me chills every time dude
bro same its my favorite on this album
in the words of someone who recommended this to me, this is top tier "backseat avant garde fucking music"
I no longer smoke... there's only one thing left.
do you know the sample of venus aire?
😢 good luck with getting happy❤
You are probably the best vaporwave artist. You have taken the genre and made it something greater.
Don't mind me, just scrolling down the comment section reading really wordy comments about the meaning of vaporwave.
This feels like laying on the yellow grass with a light purple sky at sunset. Is a very specific feeling...

@Cottonheaded Ninnymuggins and everything appears as it is, infinite.
Love all of Windows96's music but this album hits in a very unique way and is by far my favorite
10:04. Omg, that Venus Aire track left me speachless. One of the best pieces of souns I have ever experienced, thank you!
Y'all can't imagine how this piece of art make me feel..
I love how otherworldly "Bonita Camisa" sounds. The deep rumbling throughout its entirety is especially great.
It translates to nice clothes
Is sad the fact that you know that all this vaporwave comments will go to oblivion, and no body will remember it. *Oblivion Wave*
Everything will go to oblivion eventually.
I just got to the weynon priory in elder scrolls 4 Oblivion
I love these types of playlists for studying. It gives me good vibes without distracting me!
I didn’t even know this type of music still existed but now I’m obsessed 😩
Thanks to this album, I experienced feelings that I had not experienced earlier in my life. This is real art.
"Hazy Trip" is the most special track to me.
Deep Swim and Venus Aire are my favorite of all of Windows 96 tracks.
me: i want to die
me after listening to enchanted instrumentals and whispers: i want to swim in a secret isolated cave with a shore and dozens of poplars with yellow-green leaves and grey trunks inside. blue faint light illuminating every corner, shading the cave in a way it looks like an endless void. violet mist covering the moss and rocks , creating an ethereal aura. water pouring through openings between the rocks, cascading like transparent curtains. crystals on the roof of the cave reflecting their colours to the mirror-like water. i want to float there until i feel nothing but total inner tranquillity. i want to get the closest i can to becoming one with nature
This is very specific, you should write or draw something dude
Imagine how fucking dope it would be if this was a level in a 3D platformer...
you should write again

I have synesthesia, which means I naturally create images in my mind from, in my case, music. Basically, I can see music. This music is some of the most visually interesting I've ever seen, err, heard.
Alex Mowry same here...this music, specifically WINDOWS96 really ties all my senses together in such a wonderful way
Can you explain exactly what you see?
*Best.

I love the album covers they match the music so well

I was, of course, born in the early 2000's and have no firsthand experience with the 90's, however this music feels so nostalgic and makes me feel a sense of security

I really love how music makes me feel. I think that's why instrumentals always hit the best for. All the small ticks, pop, and winds with a scent of handpan.

Beautiful album. Transcends the genre in quality.
THIS IS SO NOSTALGIC IT HURTS!! It understands me. It presses all of my buttons.😊😭😊
It makes me feel nostalgic for the present.
Wow this is so relaxing and not distracting at all if I want to put it on doing homework or writing. Love it!
I see this album and one hundred morning as one, they are the perfect combination of wind96, my two favorites
식료품groceries also has an interesting and similar way of doing this.
this genre would still be good like even after a million years in the future
I play this song when i'm studying or when its rainy. This song helps stay calm when i start to get mad or panic. Thank you for making this, really appreciate it. :-)
This album is like a spiritual journey in the bizarre realms of your dreams. Very mysterious and nostalgic. I've been there myself. The album cover explains it all. One Hundred Mornings and Enchanted Instrumental and Whispers are by far Windows 96's greatest works.
Happy birthday "Enchanted Instrumentals and Whispers" 🎈🎉
