Tenho uma fabulosa coleção de carros da volkswagen.
Watching videos like this really reminds me of why I restore VW Beetles for a living.
We the same bro! Where are you out of?
That's a beautiful car and even more beautiful life story. Funny how cars are interwoven with our memories from the past. Just like family memories these vehicles deserve preserving. Well done Chris...we appreciate all that you do.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
OMG it’s a beautifully done job, Chris! I enjoy your videos! I must have owned more than 20 air cooled VWs in my life. My last one was a ‘65. It had a crazy ignition / steering lock on it.
I paid dearly for a New Old Stock Kolb steering column lock for it to bring it back to original.
Had a stock 1200cc. Only sold it because I moved. Chris, I worked with a retired NYPD Detective, John P. Finnegan. I think 9th precinct. He retired in 1986 and worked security in our hotel on Maui for 20 years. Worked under Guido, and Harold Hess, I think. Great guy. I bet your dad knew him.
Holy cow man! I will ask my dad if he knew him. 👍
Priceless 👍
It's beautiful.
Priceless!!
My great grandmother got a brand new black '59 after her husband died and left her with no income. They were both born in 1900, so they weren't even retired yet. I'm pretty sure the kids went together and bought it for her. She died in 1967 when I was 6 years old. I remember it sitting in her driveway, but I don't remember if I ever got to ride in it. It was such a novelty back then because most people in my family drove big V-8 cars. Don't know what happened to it, but it sure would be great to still have it in the family!
Awesome looking car!!! 😍 What's not to love in this story... tnx
What a wonderful "Feel Good" reveal... When he opened the decklid and paused for the slow open in case it would hit the bumper,..that's a true VW owner. She's a beaut Clark!
Haha! saw that too!
One hell of a gift to give to anyone! 🤩🤩 🌟🌟👍🍾 Restored to perfection!
Great job Chris, THAT"S what it's all about.
Thank you!
Great job! That color is amazing! Glacier Blue..got it thanks!
It's beautiful!
LOVE THIS
Awesome,
Let this be a lesson to all those who think walking up a stack of milk crates suffices as talent. Source, restore and tune these old Beetles and develop it into a business and you will have found the definition of "talent." Stuff like this makes me smile 👍.
Thanks so much man, very nice of you.
Love the reveal!
Great job. These are the best stories. Keep it up
Exelente trabajo los felicito. Saludos
Masterpiece!
After watching this video I'm trying to decide which of my kidneys I should sale to be able to afford a car like this....
Wow. What a great video. Gorgeous car, first rate restoration. Put a smile on my face. Thanks.
This is a wonderful video Chris. Great cars bring out great stories.
Absolutely beautiful job, Chris
Beautiful car chris really special to the family they bought it new in 1958 you have done an incredible job well done love your videos
Just fantastic Chris! I was born in '58.
Oh sweet! You need one then!
@@classicvwbugs Yes, we all do! Pretty much the same looking bug as my '64. Same size windows. Plus my 1st car in '75 was a '64. So I am good!! Cheers to you and Pops!
We all know you do this for a living, it's your business. But we can also see your true passion for bringing back classic beauty and bring family's even closer. Every project is different but they all have a story. You put all the pieces together and make it happen. I love that about you Chris. Awesome restoration. Keep it up 👍
Hermes thank you so much my friend, super nice of you.
Oh, Chris - this video is incredible. A family keepsake, beautifully edited. Thank you for all you did for our car. We are looking forward to date nights and family drives with the kids and grandpa giving rides to the grandkids. I tingle when I think of the memories to be made over the next few decades. Thank you so much.
You guys are so welcome!
Isn't Chris a wonderful man?!

"It never looked this nice when we were dating."
"Well, it did because you were in it!"
Love it!
That is awesome! Very nice work.
So beautiful. Amazing work and an awesome story.
This one is delightful. It looks so wonderfully original. I much prefer to see them that way. My first car was a 1958 one in the UK with a factory opening roof. Beautiful restoration job. Thanks so much for sharing it.
Great reveal! He’s a happy and a happy family. Lots of smiles per miles.
Exactly, can't help but be all smiles in this video!
Awesome reveal! Great job start to finish. I feel great after watching this video.!
So cool thank you!
Wow. Great video Chris. Loved the bridge/lake drive they took. When you come down here you'll never see those beautiful leaf colors in south Florida. Have to come north Florida Tallahassee to Jacksonville area to see a little of that.
That's ok, I'll fly up to see it the two weeks it lasts.
Amazing video Chris and an amazing project. So nice to see a group people so emotionally happy with the outcome. VW’s do this!
They are awesome.
Beautiful… you guys did an incredible job on the restoration.
Thank you!
I had a 58 Bug back in 1969. Had a sunroof. My wife was in the front holding our new born son in her arms and my three year old daughter stood between her legs. We all went to Woodstock in 1969. Never made it because the traffic and we wound up pitching a tent on the side of the road. The car brings back such memories.
It's so nice to see a car restored and back to the family in the condition it was originally purchased. They also are a nice family and well deserving of the car. Imaging having a car in the family from new....unheard of these days. Well done guys, done a wonderful restoration and thanks for sharing the family story about the car.
Thank you!
That was awesome. U guys do great work 👍 tons of smile's

Awesome...bet a reaction like this makes all the hard work totally worth it!
Totally
muito lindo poder ver a autenticidade e beleza do que um carro antigo de família pode proporcionar a história entre gerações. parabéns pelo trabalho que possibilitou isso. feito com amor e carinho
1958 was the first year for my beloved 1958-early 1964 "Herbie Generation" cutie bugs. I never had a '58, but my dad had a '60, painted ceramic green like the one in my thumbnail (one off year for that color). And I had a turquoise '61, a red sunroof '62, a white sunroof '62, and a blue '63, and a non-QT '66. I decked out my white '62 like Herbie, '53s, stripes and all, and took him to Vintage VW shows in 1982 and 1983. I won 2nd prize in the '58-'64 "square window" division in 1983. Those ('70s and '80s) were the days!
That was my first car . 1958 VW Deluxe with sliding sunroof metallic blue . In Oxford Uk . My bumpers were different . No over riders . Never let me down in 9 years. In those days we Ggave a wave when an other one passed 🤚Greetings from Canada . You could be waving all day they were every where . PS the wind sheald washer worked from the spare tire pressure. And semaphore turn signals. No one forgets their first car .🚙
This is awesome, love it!!!
One of the best to do it. #Vallone
Thank you bro!
@@classicvwbugs My dude...
Muito bom
Did you get a porche generator in?? 12V in a Moule engine
Exactly yes!
@@classicvwbugs where did you get the regulator???
@@andymaurice7693 Standard regulator, it is a dummy unit, the real 12v regulator is under the back seat.
Thanks for posting this - I was curious about how it would turn out. What a gift for the family. I'm also curious about the comment about the spare tire - can you give more detail (the spare is a different tire than the other 4?) can you give a link to where you bought them from? Thanks for being such an inspiration as well as full of help & info for those of us trying to do this on our own.
A 165 Radial tire has a tough time getting into the spare tire tub of a beetle, it is just a lil too wide, so we put a bias in there so it can fit. Bias was original to beetles in that time period. You can get them from either jegs.com or summitracing.com. Thank you so much!
Beautiful car. Great job Chris. what is this color. I cant clear you pronounce. Is this an original beetle color? is this metallic color
Glacier Blue was a one year metallic VW color offered in ‘58 only.
@@bridgetkenworthy1878 thank you😊
That car is part of the family.
Awesome
The exhaust tips look low, shouldn’t they be closer to the apron exhaust cutouts?
They are fused into the muffler, it is sold like this from wolfsburgwest.
So freaking cool! I love 58's! Are the sun visors original or repros? Would you say that this is a concours car?
Yes very close or at concourse level. Sunvisors, one is an original, but not from this bug, it was one we had in inventory.
Hi Chris. I just acquired a 1958 that needs restoration. What's an rough estimate on a full restoration?
We start at 75k
Some people just don’t deserve this kind of thing. Dude seems more concerned that things aren’t the same vs. the fact that he turned your worthless rat bug into an amazing vehicle. Just act happy dude.
