JEDS559 it does not. I just dip my transducer in the water when I get to where I'm fishing and get the temperature quickly and then I'll stick it in the duct seal for the rest of the time. It's simple
This saved me more than $40! I had like an $80 mount in my cart and stumbled across this video right before ordering. This is so cheap and simple, thank you!
The high cost of specialized transducer mounting components roadblocks simplicity. Simple solution. Good job to the original poster. And, to you for reposting. Good job.
I've seen a few ask where to get the nipple and cap, any hardware store will have it but it will be in the "irrigation" section where the sprinklers and stuff are not the plumbing section. Also it might be a good idea to slide a rubber grommet over the nipple topside before screwing down the cap just for added waterproofing. Great video!
This is one of the best ways to mount a transducer on a kayak that I found on youtube! However, I fish on rivers and low water levels might be an issue when going over rocks.
That's so fantastic. Just imagine I spent 300 dollars on my new fish finder and now i have just 10 dollars left i was thinking how am gonna install the transducer😂😂😂. Thanks bro
Its funny...we come up with these great complicated DIYs and I'd say this is the easiest...not to functional when it comes to removing it incase of rocks or whatever.but simple and fast..thank you for sharing. 👍🏽👍🏽
Thats It, We're Goin Fishin! Sure does. Now I’ve got to save up for an actual Garmin Striker and battery but at least I won’t have to blow cash on a transducer arm and I like this way better because everything is out of the way. Thanks again from a new subscriber in Australia 👍👍
make the pipe and connecting nut adjustable. one extremely important thing to using a transducer is for it to be level, obviously, so when you get it in the water or how your kayak sits in the water, you will want to adjust it slightly to make sure it is level for better images. also make sure it isn; in like a bubble stream or behind a ridge that catches air, or it'll knock your readings off. you could even make a larger pipe, so 6-12" with a sliding lock clamp on it to raise and lower your transducer however you wish out on the water.
Brilliant man. Absolutely Brilliant. I've spent so much on accessories and I really needed a simple solution. I hope this will work on my Lifetime Teton Angler. I'm sure it will. I rarely subscribe but you've earned it.
I have a Lifetime tamarack. I love this ideal but, was concern about the transducer hitting on something like a rock because, it does not have any protection like the one on the reddit post. how is it working out for you?
@@greatlakezgirl649 it’s working really well! I did a review on my Lifetime Teton and at the 9:40 mark of MY video, not this one, you can see how low the transducer sits. I’m so happy I mounted it through the scupper hole. 😀👍
sure am glad i found your channel i am in the process of installing a fish finder on my kayak and i am to the part about the transducer and like you i think $50 is crazy for the tranducer kit so im am going to go the same route you did and save save save.
I'm contemplating on doing this or use my mounting holes on my pescador pro but idk if the holes go into the hull thus promoting possible leaking or id if the holes are walled off and sheltered from the hull to eliminate that issue
Good idea, give you credit for creativity. Wouldn’t work well in most kayaks up north here in New York salt because we beach launch with rocks and sand that transducer would be ripped out fast. Maybe in a lake or something.
Thats It, We're Goin Fishin! Interested, I may just give it a test what do I have to lose but a few bucks on a nipple. Would make my life that much easier as opposed to a side arm which would be in the way. Thanks again!
I’ve been designing something like this in my mind and then found your video here. Yours is a simpler method than what I was thinking. I have a concern/question though. Other videos I’ve watched insist that the transducer must be parallel to the water bottom. From your video it appears to be canted a few degrees. So - now that you had this on for a few years, does it work well at that canted angle?
jeremy quaas I got both pieces at my local ace hardware. If you don’t have an ace, I would go to a hardware store and show them the pictures. Wish I would’ve made the picture links for you guys
I've heard this question a lot. If you have a kayak that does NOT have a scupper with a recessed scupper transducer location (some kayaks come with a scupper already recessed on the bottom just for this) then you will just have to be careful when launching or landing
@@ThatsitWeregoinfishin K thanks for getting back. Just a bit worried we dump it on the ground when loading it on and off. Anyways let u know when we crush it LOL
Good idea, but the first rock or log you encounter will see you replacing that unit . Also no good for pulling up on a beach to often.............like I said, good idea but not practical.
How do you guys have your transducers mounted?!
Thats It, We're Goin Fishin! You don't like Led Zep do ya?
I used duct seal and stuck it to the bottom of my kayak inside my back hatch. It reads perfectly and no drilling or anything required
@@jeffree6996 yea but does it read the water temps?
JEDS559 it does not. I just dip my transducer in the water when I get to where I'm fishing and get the temperature quickly and then I'll stick it in the duct seal for the rest of the time. It's simple
I’ll tell ya when I get one lmao

Awesome solution!!! My scupper holes are in recesses next to the keel so it'll even stay safe from most stumps and rocks!!!
That’s great, I’m in the same position of trying to not shell out any more $$$. Thank you and Reddit OP for sharing this!
I’ve been looking for a transducer arm and seeing what you did makes 100% sense

DAY1fishing ! Thanks! It works pretty good and has a couple battle wounds from pulling out of a couple spots, but I don’t mind it!
I tipped my kayak over and siliconed it in place and it works great, rests up inside better also.
Dude you are a lifesaver. I’ve just brought a new kayak and my budget is pretty much drained. Thanks👍👍👍👍👍
No problem! I was in the same situation! Stuff adds up so fast

you just saved me probably $100 from buying a rail and mount and have to drill more into my kayak. Tight lines man!
Hungry Like The Wolfe no problem! Glad it helped!
This is seriously so great and simple! WIll be doing this 10000%, thank you for posting such a to-the-point vid!
Holy crap batman!!! I would have never thought of this. Thanks

From your point of view you are correct, from mine not so much. Still a good idea if you stay away from to many beach landings.
Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve got the same yak so this helps out a ton. Thanks!
Ravarra Glad it helped!! Just be careful and don’t forget that your transducer is right under the yak when loading and unloading! Tight lines!!!
Lol me too
Always appreciate DIY projects, thanks for sharing!
DIY is the way to go to save some money some times!

Racerx NY what kayak/fish finder are you running?
I have Malibu 2XL with a trolling motor and a lowrance FF.
Just finished the project and now I need to mount FF. I also have a Hobie Revo, but the transducer is built in.

You’re able to maintain a water tight seal coming up through the scupper?
Looks great but does water not come up through the sides of the pvc while out on the water?
That got me to subscribe, looking forward to more

Wow that definitely seems dead simple.
Do you take it out after every trip when transporting the kayak?

@@ThatsitWeregoinfishin I've got a Old Town Topwater 106... Has a great space underneath for the transducer...
what happens when you drag your Kayak up on shore
Tony Stites not gonna lie, my transducer has some marks on it, but I usually try to pull up to shore and then onto a cart
That was the first thing that came to my mind I dont want to damage the ducer
Awesome video! I left a like :)
Fusion Eleven thanks!!
this is great except that the transducer sits below the bottom so if you go over a rock it might get hit pretty hard or caught up.
When launching the kayak do have any issues with scraping the transducer on the ground?

Dale White Thanks! I was gonna make some rod holders out of pvc, but a buddy gave me a couple extras he had laying around!
Will transducer b accurate up tight to kayak like that
Jonathan wise I think it’s ok, as long as it doesn’t sit too high under the yak. If that makes sense
Good shizzle, my nizzle
I love it - thanks!
what direction does the transducer go front or back
Mel Nelson I have the flat side pointing to the back! What transducer do you have?
@@ThatsitWeregoinfishin Same one you show.

Hell yeah man!
Why not just rig a u joint out of pvc and stuck in the rod holder by the side?
That’d be a waste of a rod holder
Excellent!
super cool😄😄👍👍
Lynn Kao Concert Pianist/Singer/Composer thank you!!!

probably out of money from paying the tattoo artist !
Something like that!
Rrrrrip
This would be for LAKES ONLY. NOT for our rivers.
Your transducer is not straight down so it will not read right
One stump/rock
