I loved this episode the first time I watched it. I think the pacing is SUCH an underrated strength - the shorter season just means that episodes are on average carrying more of a burden of finale establishment, and nothing this season has felt so rushed it ruined the episode for me, but an episode this solidly crafted does just maintain my suspension of disbelief and emotional investment that little bit more. I like Dr Who best when I only start overthinking when it’s done! The second time I watched it, my boyfriend’s son watched along with us. Dancing being eww icky cooties aside, he seemed to like it the best of the season so far. I felt quite emotional about it, because his experience was clearly just that it was a fun and exciting episode with cool characters and “weirdly cute” villains, and it feels important that kids are getting to see gay love interests and more emotionally expressive male heroes as just another option in the full range of normal cool stuff.
Great review! You have my sub:) I absolutely loved this episode, it became my favourite in this generally strong season (only opening episode was weaker in my opinion). I loved Jonathan Groff and his character and I will be mad if finding him won't be the major plot point in the 2nd season! Especially that Jonathan would like to return. Both him and Ncuti had so much chemistry from the first moments on that balcony that you could almost see sparksm And let's hope when he's back he and Ncuti will sing a duet because lack of Jonathan singing was the only flaw I saw in that episode.
Thank you, and welcome! It would be great if season 2 is the search for Rogue, then they reunite fully at the end of that season and Rogue joins the TARDIS crew full time for season 3. I agree this season has overall ended up pretty strong, I just wish they had done literally anything else other than Space Babies for their opener.
I honestly have no clue. There are so many possibilities. I love you went through a bunch of them. I just hate that whenever I hear her name that evil song pops in my head - "There's always a twist". 🤯
Great segment about one of my favorite and certainly most heart-warming of Gatwa episodes! Glad to have found your channel and subscribed! Never fear, the ring the Doctor got from Rogue will surely ultimately lead him to Rogue in the unknown dimension! At last, Ncuti has hit his stride and found his inimitable iteration of the Doctor!
My current theory: The One Who Waits is Rogue. And we are going to get at least a few episodes in the next season (if not the entire season or even part or the entirety of the 3rd season) before that reveal.
Ooo, good theory! That makes sense and would be a dramatic and potentially tragic twist if they pull it off right. Alternately I suppose it could be a subversive misdirection leading to a happy ending. I dig it!
I agree, and this episode made me cry too. However although it felt appropriate here I think the doctor crying in every episode is getting overdone (it would have had more impact here if he didn't cry at every episode).
Yeah it’s definitely in danger of losing its impact , but I feel like this episode in isolation warrants it. I actually thought it was every episode too until I went back to cut the montage. I don’t think he cries in The Devil’s Chord, 73 Yards, or The Giggle, unless I missed it. It certainly feels pretty frequent.
Love this season but this was absolutely my favorite episode so far. The Kylie bit in the spaceship, the villains, the emotions and the KISS! Love it.
It really was an awesome episode 😄
I always said I didn't care for Bridgerton because it wasn't gay enough so this episode felt very correct haha
Cool of Doctor Who to scratch that itch. Maybe the real Bridgerton will take note.

I totally agree. I think this will have a very positive impact on a lot of young Whovians 🙂

@@theKtransmission S2 The search for Rogue. Delightful! Count me in! That's another sub, for what it's worth.
Another great review! I was loling so hard at "is Susan Twist.......... Susan....?" 🤣🤣🤣
Yay! I had a lot of fun making that sequence. Who do you think Susan Twist is?

Thanks, and welcome! I certainly hope so. They make a great couple. Ncuti is definitely killing it this season.
Indira Varma was devilishly delightful !!
She is so good in this. I love a good scenery-chewing villain.
@@theKtransmission Oh, I love her, and I'm impatient for S2 where she will appear regularly, I expect.
best.....review....ever!!! you got a sub from me!
Aw thanks so much, and welcome!

Super review! Loved this episode, my fave this season. Thought Indira Varma was superb.
Yay, totally agree! She was a lot of fun in this.
