    Here you have some comments. Going into the race I had Gustav Iden as my favorite. This was based on his race in Bahrain, and of course from ITU. He ran a 1.07 in Bahrain. And he is one of ITU's strongest cyclists. That means he is a better cyclist and runner than 70.3 guys (sorry ironman fans). Iden just had one bike. He did not choose a road bike, it was the only alternative. But he said that he knew he could get aero on it. He had to borrow wheels and a helmet. Regarding biking the hills without bottles, he lost then due to bad dottle cages. It was not a strategy. In the end, he had the second-fastest bike split (1s beck from RVB), but he had legs left and easily outran the rest.
    I was mostly shocked that so-called triathlon fans did not have Iden in their top 3.

      Thanks for the comments and fair play for calling it! He certainly should have been up there that's for sure.
      I know he had one bike, but if that course had been a more traditional 70.3 one I suspect it's unlikely he would have raced at all with it. I did see he had a back bottle early on too, but I also think losing that wasn't a bad thing.
      That was a stacked field and although he was likely to be in contention, certain aspects really worked to his advantage to enable the win.

    On that course I really think the choice of an ultralight aero road bike was spot on, but in the end Gustav was simply the fittest.

    That was really good Chris. Interesting to see the impact of Eden’s shoes.
    I’ve often wondered if a road bike would be a better choice sometimes on a tasty bike course for lighter riders where the weight of the bike is more of a hindrance

    Nice one. Like the swim GPS idea. That motorbike at the end of the bike wasn't very clever, shouldn't really have been there. With such a strong run though I don't think the result would have changed. Obviously that RVB decent shows disc brakes just slow you down!!

    This bike was really easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

  • @blinzi69

    nothing wrong with riding a road bike with clip-ons - if you can maintain a comfortable and aerodynamic position there is absolutely no difference between this and a triathlon bike. Ive seen people hitting better CdA on a road bike than they do on a tri-bike even - lastly it all depends on how your body fits on the bike frame. actually think triathlon bikes are just marketing at this point lol - on a budget you can easily upgrade a regular road bike to a triathlon geometry so you dont have to buy another bike - clip ons, saddle mount and rims will do the job.

    • @pureperformancecoaching3377
      @pureperformancecoaching3377  2 года назад

      Yeah agreed. I do think it depends on the road bike model too. We tested an athlete with draft legal extensions on a Cervelo S5 recently and the numbers were incredibly good. The venge in the video and the S5 are obviously top end bikes built with aerodynamics in mind. The main point in this context is how well it worked out on this course.

      @@israel_started_it_ALL_in_1947 nah mate your wrong here, he made a great video and the hat thing is a pointless and easy mistake that doesnt affect the race analysis at all. also the swim thing was another easy mistake as you can barely see who is who in the water.
