    Very good video, I did ride the course 6weeks ago and leaning now towards using my Road bike this September. The climbing is a bit more comfortable and the control much better down the technical descents. I don't think you do re gain much time over the 20k flat section if using a tt bike. Well, I better get used to my Road bike then.....🚴‍♂️💨

    Too many variables changed from day 1 to day 2:- bike type- suit type- helmet type- bottle position- active cooling vs. sweating- knowledge of the courseOnly one parameter did not change: testing in public traffic with all hazards and impediments to bikers.An age group member of my tri club will use his road bike. So will S. Kienle as he announced in his YT channel.The tip of Roy to bike this course as often as possible is hardly feasible for most participants (except the locals).

    5 watts gained is perhaps even less than putting the bottles behind the seat (I saw your aero video and you talked about 11 watts for the bottles alone). So you would be in clear advantage using a light road bike set up correctly here.

      Even you could use the disc on a road bike

    So the triathlon/TT bike was faster, and also 5W less power needed to be faster... Yet the recommendation was to use Road bike (??) Imagine this conclusion comes more from "comfort" or perception of climbing factors, but numbers tell a different story... Or did I not interpret the test correctly? Thanks for putting this together by the way! Very helpful... My main takeaway here is that you got 2 flats in 2 rides... CRAZY! I will def re-think my choice of tires based on this :)

      Hey Ricardo, the wattage come from Garmin, so i am a bit carefull there, also Adrian rode a bit more agressive with the aerobike because i know the course better, i will credit him about 45-60s for this, conclusion comes from less weight, more agressive breaking and cornering - but if you know the course well you will be faster... whish you a great race...

    Please note: emptying 2 bottles produce the main part of the reduced weight (87kg down to 82.8kg)

    • @RoyHinnendotcom
      @RoyHinnendotcom  5 лет назад +1

      The liquid went from the Bottles into his body, from there it was used up for his performance...

    • @fiddleronthebike
      @fiddleronthebike 5 лет назад

      1.5 kg is not the main part of 4.2 kg - and then what goes from the bottle into the body does not change the overall weight

    Hallo Roy, ich denke auch, dass das Rennrad hier bergab mit gesperrter Strecke noch viel gut machen kann.

    • @RoyHinnendotcom
      @RoyHinnendotcom  5 лет назад +2

      Yes I would and I would ride the SLR from now on until the race, place your Bottles behind your back, ride save tires with milk.

    For such a technical course, what about using my Cervélo P2 (2017) which comes with Di2 shifting, but modifying the handle bar to that of a road bike and also the seat angle a little bit further back, to go towards that 74 or 73 angle ? With Di2 I could shift from both the road bar STI shifters as well as the clip ons.

    Hi Roy, I've notice on the data extraction it shows 1220m and 1224m gain versus the 1367m mentioned on the race map.. that's 143m difference which is quite a lot considering. Any thoughts on that?
    Cheers
    Robert

    What do you mean by "putting the milk" inside the tires?

    • @seulebrg
      @seulebrg 5 лет назад

      I am assuming they refer to putting sealant (typically white colored) into tubeless tires. The sealent, as the word would suggest seals the small holes in the tubeless tires during a ride, thereby reducing the likelihood to get punctures.

    • @RoyHinnendotcom
      @RoyHinnendotcom  5 лет назад

      is for sealing a cut of the tire! you put it in before you race...
