I don't follow this sport, I honestly have no idea who this man is or why this was recommended to me but holy crap this is impressive. Love the discipline and determination, good luck Lionel.
You are doing everything you said you would do this year (high volume swim, wind tunnel, four races and Kona). Sticking to the plan. Excited to see the results of your discipline and hard work. No Limits!
Last time Lionel raced Tremblant he flatted out of T1, replaced the wheel and then with 4-5 minutes down to the lead, caught them at the half way point on the big climb back at La Conception and then arrived in T2 with a 2.5 minute lead. Let's go Colonel, time to smash them again.
Lionel - thanks for being such a Legend - so open and honest - your comments on learning to feel your body - to not deny yourself and to trust the process as you continue to listen and feel your way forward is profound - 🙌🙌
I fully concur with indoor training especially on the bike. No wind gusts while doing efforts, no massive time wasted in non-targeted zones. The trainer is just such a beauty, so much more efficent when it comes to workouts. Though probably not so good to the eyes :(
No traffic, able to set consistent power, I can ride when it’s pitch black outside or 100 degs. I get the best workouts on the trainer. Riding outside is a lot more fun, and the time definitely goes by faster though.
Lionel’s talking like he now has the wisdom and confidence of a multiple Ironman world champion and Olympic gold medalist…wonder where he’s getting that from…?🤔😂 Chapeau Lionel! 💪🏼
1) Talbot: Some questions to ask LS during these could be about nutrition and hydration. Especially during a pure training video like this. We're always interested. 2) One thing I've noted is that Lionel has a very specific kind of hunger AND confidence leading into Tremblant every year. He always has this attitude but it seems accentuated before Tremblant specifically. And his results are proof... Excited to race way behind you on Sunday.
Great video! Lionel spitting facts. “This doesn’t matter. What matters is race day.” Love this version of Lionel 💪 and wishing him success in the future.
I don't see you train 24/7 but it seems when you train indoors like you say you do this much, seems like your the most successful with it. I texted this to you before,it seems the indoor Training especially in the beginning when you hit successfully is your sweet spot and key to good performances. It also seems you have tried all other aspects of training ,but the indoor seems the best. Great job and cheering for your Kona goal this year!!
No f**king about this time - re nutrition, hydration, taper, etc - I hope you do yourself justice and come away satisfied with your performance. I will be rooting for you as always!💪💪💪Best of luck🤞👍
Can’t wait to cross you on your way back on the rd117 while I’m on my way up 😂 Getting back on the course after I got hit by a car on my bike during training 2 weeks before last year Tremblant is a big W for me 😅 Go get them!
Good Luck Lionel! I would have been pumped to get a glimpse of you while I was out on the course. I am registered to race Mont-Tremblant but injured hamstring and calf muscle 4 weeks ago and do not want to miss USA Nationals Competition with the same injury. So I am not even making the trip up to Canada. Thanks for your inspiring videos.
I did the IM there a few years back and loved the bike. He's going to have a ball there. Mont Tremblant was also amazing in it's support of the race. It's a must event, too bad the IM is gone. Racing in Quebec has a different flavour and I would love to see what he would do in a drag race like the Esprit. Hope race day goes well, fingers crossed.
I am excited to see what wonders this season might end up revealing. I bet everything is planned around Kona this year though but you of course have to qualify first 😄
Tunnel testing to the test on the race course. What was the CDA - 2.1? Let's see if you really can produce those numbers this weekend with all the adjustments you made in Germany. I expect a win of 12 minutes of second place. Don't bring excuses for this and that. Lionel is my man for KONA!
For someone new to all this could you go over your indoor setup? the bike setup etc equipment wise and links to where to purchase the products? I would greatly appreciate it.
Would have been great to hear more on heat adaption and indoor training. If training is training, and the time/power is not relevant, might as well use it to prepare for hot/humid conditions, no?
But why do so many aerobic sports professionnals go train in altitude and/or where it is very hot? Like you said in this vid, I understand the endurance to heat comes from the aerobic level fitness, but isn't better to replicate race conditions here and there while training? Jerome from Quebec.
I also have the same doubt. You are essentially overtraining if you do altitude plus heat, your heartrate will be out of the roof without the benefit of withstanding long volumes of exercise. So you will lose the altitude adaptability training and just do high effort even in slow runs.
Kinda feel like he should be running and riding in his tri suit as well inside...you cant ride and run bare chested during races.... makes a difference even inside with evaporation of sweat off the skin. Plus wonder if he's ever been looked at for exercise induced asthma? Absolutely love these videos 😊
I realise a large part of this is your body just being used to it, but do you have any tips on not getting saddle sores when spending so much time on the bike? Feels like no matter how much I train it still hurts! (And yes, I’ve had a good bike fit) keep up the amazing work!!
lol it's funny how lionel is slowly coming back to what mikel iden was trying to get him to do. if only he could actually listen and stick with something for more than a few months at a time
Don’t deny yourself Lionel, you have the ITU world championship title and 2no Samorin world titles not too shabby along with over 30 70.3 wins and IM wins🤷🏻♂️ A career many would like you may be chasing other titles but you’ll still go down in the history books as one of the greats
@@adamreebs he's just such an extreme personality. Every 3 months he has a new revelation, changes his whole mindset and claims it was obvious to a novice. Everything is matter-of-fact to the extreme. The use of "I don't care", "doesn't matter", etc. If I were to make a skit mocking a triathlete stereotype, I'd be Lionel.
I dont understand. Indoor training with everything being controlled, doesnt that avoid the issue of being able to handle racing in the heat and getting good at bike handling in real world conditions?
Crazy...I joined triathlon life just because to amazing feeling to be outdoors. He became a tri lab rat? Crazy! Time to move back to cold weather temps! I moved to Maui and training became near impossible because the heat.
He doesnt ride 3hrs EVERY day. Sometimes he does 2hrs. Sometimes he does 1.5hrs. Dont think its a good message to send out to aspiring athletes, saying "i do 3hrs everyday".

Lionel and Paula for the win. Going to be fun to watch. 🙌
I have so much respect for athletes that train inside rather than outside I hate riding my trainer
A heroic effort for triathlon's greatest hero! Go get it, Lionel!
GO get it Lionel! it is yours!

Had a rough day at work!! So stoked to come home to a new Lionel Sanders vid!
Yep time to forget about work and go train 🎉
Always admired the work ethic Lionel. Wishing you the best of luck in your race
This is going to be the most anticipated bike leg in triathlon history!
Hahahahahaha.
Sports hyperbole is bigger than the universe.
Shaved Lionel is unstoppable on the bike 😤
well currently it's predicted 100% massive rainfall
I fully concur with indoor training especially on the bike.

yup but sometimes I question my life choices on the turbo

We talking or we racing?
unfortunately he has done so after every fallback in the last few years
I'm stoked to watch & cheer on Sunday. Not racing this year, and I'm stoked to just be able to follow on the sidelines.
Good. I'm 100% indoor also for the 24hour solo "A" race. Typing this on the trainer after threshold session in cool down. YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!

you stay humble and always stating that you are learning.... that is the frame of mind of a champion imo...!! well done Lionel
Your approach is inspiring as always! Good luck Lionel
Damn these videos fire me up!

There’s blood in the water !!!
Pumped for the race. Go get it!! ✊️

Good luck up there. Our local pro from the town right next door is there for the race this year. Excited to see how everyone places.
Love the pics on the wall in front of the treadmill and bike.
Nice ti see you at indoor training
Can't wait!! Will be cheering from the sidelines!

Talbot: where are you going to race?
Lionel: I learned to trust my body
Love it
wow looking at the wall poster, Jan is really a spirit inspiring icon, I am going to put one on my wall too.
Great psychological approach to a race👍
I am excited to see what wonders this season might end up revealing. I bet everything is planned around Kona this year though but you of course have to qualify first 😄
He's come full circle then... good luck!
I think Lionel epitomises the saying ‘often wrong but never in doubt’!
looks like you're eating your words now, huh?
I’m considering the 17 hour drive to go watch 😂
From where, Mexico? Jesus.
Not worth
DO IT!
Watch online while riding swift .. get your workout in
Hoping to get to tremblant this weekend to watch !
My legs have been feeling really sore recently and just trying to push through the pain and after watching this, it's making me reconsider 😅
Serás un Éxito! 💥👊🏽💥
Regards from Chile🇨🇱

lets goooooo
Love ya work mate 👍 ✌️
Would have been great to hear more on heat adaption and indoor training. If training is training, and the time/power is not relevant, might as well use it to prepare for hot/humid conditions, no?
Damn running on treadmill with a pic of Frodeno haunting you... good moto
Lionel... #BattleOfOntario2025 in Ottawa - LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN... Jessey, Cody, Jackson and yourself!
I think he has a race plan this year that he is sticking too.
But why do so many aerobic sports professionnals go train in altitude and/or where it is very hot? Like you said in this vid, I understand the endurance to heat comes from the aerobic level fitness, but isn't better to replicate race conditions here and there while training?

Absolutely love these videos 😊
Inside is all about cooling . While outside it's a lot easier due to wind and movement
I realise a large part of this is your body just being used to it, but do you have any tips on not getting saddle sores when spending so much time on the bike? Feels like no matter how much I train it still hurts! (And yes, I’ve had a good bike fit) keep up the amazing work!!
The lion will be back. Come on Lionel
lol it's funny how lionel is slowly coming back to what mikel iden was trying to get him to do. if only he could actually listen and stick with something for more than a few months at a time
I was there when you won in 2018!!
Don’t deny yourself Lionel, you have the ITU world championship title and 2no Samorin world titles not too shabby along with over 30 70.3 wins and IM wins🤷🏻♂️
A career many would like you may be chasing other titles but you’ll still go down in the history books as one of the greats
Come on lionel, lets get it!!!!
What a beast!
Ending the vlog with a zoom-in to Crowie is an interesting decision. Is this a foreshadowing to a Newton sponsorship?
We have come to the end of the drift phonk era and on we forge into the drum and bass
What’s your indoor cycling trainer setup?
If it works for the women's world champion and Lionel...it works for me! I love training indoors on the bike.
5:46 what is that, something for the air?
Humidity control, removes water from the air
Sometimes I think Lionel is playing a character
How so?
@@adamreebs he's just such an extreme personality. Every 3 months he has a new revelation, changes his whole mindset and claims it was obvious to a novice. Everything is matter-of-fact to the extreme. The use of "I don't care", "doesn't matter", etc.
If I were to make a skit mocking a triathlete stereotype, I'd be Lionel.
When is the date?
Yup yup!
With all his indoor training focus, Lionel should get the new Wahoo Kickr Run Treadmill... He's a Wahoo sponsored athlete right?
Is Jan working with you?
That is a open secret 😅
What would Jan charge? He would be expensive AF I would think being a legend. Like $1000 per month minimum
Why are you using the sports omnium indoor travel trainer and not a Wahoo Kickr?
which indoor treadmill do you recommend?
no kona this year?
Do you also do some weight lifting??
Lionel looking tight, tight like a 🐯
GD you are a beast
He’s focused
Are you going to do IM 70.3 Michigan again?
🔥🔥🔥
Mont-Tremblant isn't too far from Lake Placid, any plans to swing by and check out that course?
He is racing it in July...
Why doesn't he have a Kickr (DirectSmartTrainer)?
Do we know what socks those are going in the threshold shoes?
Get it done
bring back the green Lionel!
What treadmill is he running on?
I dont understand. Indoor training with everything being controlled, doesnt that avoid the issue of being able to handle racing in the heat and getting good at bike handling in real world conditions?
Anyone know the name of the song in the intro? 🎵
Dear Sam... is 3h + 5k + 5k?
What model treadmill is that?
name of songs?
Voices strlght and drifting by strlght
Shave the legs, shave the arms...but did you have to shave the head?!? We miss the crazy hair...but still luv ya, LS! 🤩🙏💪
Congratulations on the racoon tan line. Only a swimmer knows.
Whats the Music at 12.00?
❤️❤️❤️
What Bike Trainer is he using?
Looks like a Feedback omnium
💪
🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁
Why 2 iPads?
Anyone know what bike trainer he is using?
Feedback omnium
Crazy...I joined triathlon life just because to amazing feeling to be outdoors. He became a tri lab rat? Crazy! Time to move back to cold weather temps! I moved to Maui and training became near impossible because the heat.
Come down to Texas for a few weeks....then you will feel heat stress. ;) 74% humidity
why is he not in the t100?
Where have you been the last 6 months?
Winning is its Your time or not!! regargless of hard training and such!!
He doesnt ride 3hrs EVERY day. Sometimes he does 2hrs. Sometimes he does 1.5hrs.
Dont think its a good message to send out to aspiring athletes, saying "i do 3hrs everyday".
