Which feature excites you the most about the Oticon Range?

Is the Bernafon Alpha not the same as Oticon Alpha?
Assuming the DNN is properly set, as in it is fully capable of being able to identify sounds in my environment, I may actually be more excited about the possibility of having the Moresound Intelligence on my hearing aids. Of course I haven't decided if I even want Oticon vs another brand.
However, I wonder exactly how it will determine what I would or would not want to hear. Let me give you an example. I work in an environment where I have to deal with loud Semi tractor trucks, or I will be in a building with annoying air/heating sounds, or machinery (like conveyor belts). Will it reduce those sounds constantly? Will it only reduce those sounds when a new sound that is more "important" or preferred appears? When I have to release the air tanks on a tractor, will it cut out the loud- air release sounds? I'll actually need that because if I can't hear it, I would assume there is no air being release.
How would that work against the wind blowing on the hearing aids? There are just too many questions regarding this before I could even accept it.
I like the travel charger: it's very useful even in non-camping situations. It's useful for charging in-flight, on the train, overnight trips, or during long, cross country drives. I like to know that I have a compact charger handy without the need for a direct power source.
Regarding purchasing Costco Hearing Aids: I don't have a problem with the cost of Costco hearing aids (In fact, I would prefer to pay much less for hearing aids.) Though, my concern is the standard of care provided by Costco's hearing aid technicians. I have both neurosensory hearing loss and conductive hearing loss. I think that only an ENT or Audiologist would have spotted this and made the necessary accommodations. I would rather pay more for the standard of care I have received than go for a quick assessment at a Costco (they only allot 45 minutes for their appointment and that includes testing, purchasing the hearing aids, and any adjustments.) I'd prefer not to take chances or cheap out when it comes to something as important and valuable (to me) as my hearing. Then again, it's a preference thing.

Just got my father fitted with the more 1's today. He can't believe the difference from his 7yr old widex. We are all super impressed with these and he's very happy. Thanks to this video we went there educated on the matter. Thank you again.

I have never had good luck with these hearing aids using Bluetooth on my Samsung Note 20 Ultra. Mostly only 1 side would work at a time. Good news, I just upgraded to Android 12 and I could pair the hearing aids like on an iPhone without the Oticon app. It's only been 2 days but it looks like my Bluetooth woes are over. Hi Steve, thank you for the feedback. That;s great to hear! Bluetooth with Android IS more complicated than with iPhones just based on the sheer number of phones out there and compatibility issues. Thank you very much for spending some time on the music handling capabilities of this hearing aid. No other reviewer seems bothered to do this. In your experience do you think these devices could handle the complex sounds from a pipe organ, such as long sustained notes, lots of deliberately emphasised harmonics, reed sounds (as contrasted with sine wave flutes) and very low frequency notes?
I have for almost three years the Phonak Marvel 90, which I like, but I tried the Oticon More for two weeks and I could hear fine details better with them. So I think I will get them next time. However, the price is very high even with some insurance coverage. Costco carries a version of Oticon under the name of Philips HearLink 9030. Do you know how they compare with the Oticon More 1?

That's a great question. Historically I've had great results with Starkey for musicians (our practice specializes in musicians' hearing aids). I have just obtain a oticon implant hearing aid...but while I'm streaming on mobile iPhone or my laptop ith my connect clip I'm still picking up the everyday sound as well as the streaming sound...is this correct.

I’ve watched both videos on the Opticon More and Phonak Lumity. Really informative. Certainly more information than either Audiologist has offered. Can you help me choose between the two. I have moderate hearing loss. Have difficulty with background noise. Need the telephone feature. Music or waterproof not a big issue. Which would you recommend and why? Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you for a very informative video. I am new to HAs and just had my first evaluation and this particular doctor recommended the Oticon More 2 (as that is what my insurance will partially remit for). Accordingly, she told me the Oticon More 1 would be full out of pocket and more than I'm willing to pay at this time. I have moderate hearing lost in one ear and slightly worse in the other. Anyway, my question is about the More 2 as opposed to the More 1. Generally, what I understand is the More 1 is fully automatic and the More 2 step down in features requires a manual adjustment if entering into a different sound environment. Is this the case? Also, I am considering buying only one for my worse ear now and then purchasing the second one maybe in a year should the technology advance even more. Your thoughts on that? Do these Oticon offer firmware upgrades to existing models to keep up with technological improvements? Thanks for any info you are willing to share.
Hey Mtjag, I'm so pleased to hear your positive feedback, thank you. It's a great question and really depends on your lifestyle. I imagine it's possible to do a trial of the hearing aids with your audiologist, which is essential to understand if they're going to cope with your difficulties, so that's where I would start. Oticon do regularly bring out firmware updates with the most recent only being in the last few months. You'll always hear better with to hearing aids over one, so if it's possible I would go for both. Plus you'll miss out on certain features with a unilateral fitting. I hope this helps. @@HearingTracker that helps quite a bit. My biggest fear is buying both ears now and then having a great upgrade within a couple of years and having to buy another set then. Just looking at capital outlay and best use of funds allocated to this. My wife wants me to get both, but I just didn't think I needed both right now. Those features you alluded to on unilateral fitting, are these reliant on two HAs in such a fashion as linking them, or is it just the "stereo" effect and having my brain adjust faster? I bought some really cheap ITE amplifiers a few months back and noticed how confusing it is to have just one in as the sound is "different".
Matthew, Very informative and precise review of the Oticon More technology. I currently have the OPN S1 Minirite T (BI-CROS) configuration with my current HA and like them so far. They work very well for what they provide and are the first set of hearing aids I've ever owned in my 63 years. I am tempted to demo the More devices, but like any technology purchase, I would probably like to wait until all the bugs are worked out with such a massive change in the chip set, as you spoke of in your video. Am I looking at that wrongly, or does Oticon thoroughly QA/test their new technology where that's not a genuine concern?
Hey Mark, I would like to think that it’s thoroughly tested before it comes to market but there are sometimes bugs. They’ve been remedied now with firmware updates so I think you’re safe. Matthew
One thing I don't see many people talk about is using the Oticon TV adapter attached to your computer, using Teams, Zoom and other online meetings is excellent, l'm a trainer for a large healthcare provider and am in meetings most of the day. My home office is much quieter because I don't use traditional speakers most of the time. I wish you could adjust the time out on that device, but otherwise it works amazing.

@@HearingTracker I use a Blue Yeti hooked up to my computer. Much better sound and hands free. Students and colleagues have no problem hearing me.
I have the first ones out ,love the Bluetooth feature, but it whistles terribly and can't turn them up, apparently this problem was a issue with the first type and has now been resolved ,wish I could get the latest ones as this drives me nuts!

Hi Matthew, many thanks for this really informative review. I'm going to be changing from my old OPN 1 to the new More 1 hearing aids next week and I'm excited to see how they can improve my soundscape. I have a couple of questions:
1) If I wanted to show people a video on my phone or play music for others to hear, I used to turn off my hearing aids (by flipping open the battery lid) so that the iPhone would play through it's speakers. It seems more fiddly to do this with the More 1. Is there any easier way to make my iPhone play sounds through it's speaker or do I need to disconnect my More 1s every time?
2) The travel charger looks interesting and useful for when I stay away from home. This charger isn't on the Oticon website for some reason. Do you have a cost for this item? I assume it's expensive, because everything with Oticon seems to be expensive...

1. You should be able to press the sound source button in the top right of the screen which allows you to choose between your hearing aids or iphone and you shouldn't have to disconnect them each time.
2. The travel charger was due to be released in the Autumn of this year however has been delayed until spring 2022 due to the global shortage of chips. Well be sure to post when we have an update so stay tuned.

When you place the hearing aids in the charger, does it automatically default to the original settings despite having manually changed some of them during the day?
Hey Kathleen, yes you're right. With any hearing aid when they're put in the charger and removed it essentially resets the settings back to the default programme set up by your audiologist. Thanks for watching, Matthew
Does the Oticon cros only transmit to the good ear or does it also transmit to the damaged ear? Is it possible for a hearing aid to convert a low tone to a high tone which I can hear in my damaged ear? Very detailed video. Thank you.

Mathew, my name is Mark and I have a few questions relating to the Oticon More line of HA's.
Since 2017, I have worn Oticon OPN1 with 105 acrylic, skeleton style ear molds. I have a steep sloping high frequency loss starting at 1000hz (-20db) to 8000hz (-100db) bilaterally. This loss was caused by working in a heavy artillery battalion and frequent aircraft transportation, helicopters mostly, while serving is the US Army back in the 80's.
After watching a few of your videos, I discovered that the OPN S model really improved the feedback problems encountered on the OPN1 model.
I have always struggled with feedback problems with the OPN1's but they are otherwise superior in sound quality (especially music) to any of the other HA's I have tried over the years. My audiologist has frequently made new ear molds to try and address the feedback, but it continues. So, I just put up with it, because they are great otherwise.
My audiologist saw me this past Friday and suggested upgrading my 2017 OPN1 HA's with something newer. I am considering the Oticon More model 1's, with 105 receivers.
#1) Do you think the feedback problem be improved moving from the OPN1 to the MORE1's?
#2) Has the feedback technology on the MORE1's improved since the OPN S HA's?
#3) Am I able to use my existing 105 receivers on the MORE1's, or should I have them remade and keep the other HA's as spares?
#4) On my OPN1's, and an older Samsung phone, I had to use a connect clip, to hear my phone conversations. I now have a Samsung, Galaxy S22+ Ultra with Android 12 OS, and would like to hear music and listen to phone conversations without a connect clip. I don't mind holding my phone like a microphone so that the other person can hear me.
Can I accomplish that with the MORE's and my current Android phone, or should I get a connect clip as well?

good evening, I’ve recently started wearing HAs earlier this year and my audiologist recommendation was Oticon More MiniRite R as she was very pleased with the technology it produced. I’m 28 years old with severe to profound hearing loss. The HAs is amazing when picking up natural sounds around me however it fails me when I need it for speech clarity and background noise cancellation (even over the counter service is still troublesome for me and from soft spoken individuals). What’s your recommendations that I should bring up with my audiologist before I visit their clinic for my current prescription? I.e. should they do REM test, should they adjust the device settings to have a better fit for my lifestyle? Thanks in advance doctor!

I have been using the more hearing aids for a few months. Only promblem i have is that i do not get a solution to the distorsion that sounds like a short burst flutter on higher frequency and in confined spaces such as in a car. Audi adjusts feedback etc. but no improvement.
Anybody found a solution to this rel. uncommon problem?

That's an interesting question and I have come across this with patients before. It's worth your audiologist taking a look at the coupling to your ear and the feedback manager. Thanks for watching.
This is an artifact of Oticon's Open Sound Optimizer, which applies modulation in several frequency bands to preemptively head-off feedback. It can be quite audible on certain types of sounds that are similar to the "pure tone" caused by feedback. In my experience, the More is considerably improved over the OPN S in this regard, but the artifact can still be quite audible and I think is something that Oticon could stand to improve further.
The relatively new (requiring a firmware update on older More devices) More Music program in the More is also helpful for musicians in particular, as Open Sound Optimizer artifacts tended to be more frequent with music, and this program turns down the action of the OSO so that it is less likely to be triggered by "pure tone"-like sounds in music.
This was so informative. I wonder if this brand has the most naturally sensed voice from the wearer. In the past my voice felt mechanical.

I have a question that I cannot get an answered. I have talked to my audiologist and Odicon Customer Support. My audiologist has said that the More 1 is about $2000/pair more expensive than the More 3. When I asked Odicon "What do I get for the extra money?" They talk about extra channels,better programing, and other technical stuff being better. In essence the More 1 is the better product depending on my hearing loss. The problem is they cannot really enough for me to decide why I should spend an extra $2000 dollars. I have no way of judging if I need they extra flexibility of the More 1. There is also the question of the speakers. There are three types and I do not know if I should get the better speakers. Can you help me understand what the differences mean in real life?

I have SSD and normal hearing in one ear. I’m trying the More 2 so far I’m very disappointed because I still cannot hear clearly on my deaf side and when I’m listening to RUclips or streaming to my hearing aid. Help… my audiologist didn’t even mention the cros system. It is normal to just have one hearing aid, when you have normal hearing in one ear??

Thanks for the video. The More was recommended to my 91-year-old Mom. The audiologist did not cover what level 1-2-3 would be best for her - but simply showed her the price difference. While she has an active lifestyle for 91 it is what I would call a quiet one. For her, would there be a real difference in her hearing experience between the different levels.? Or best to save some money and just buy the basic level? Thanks!
Hey Steven, thanks for your note. I think the more important question to ask is why you're being recommended a 'More' when this was superseded by the 'Real', which itself was even more recently superseded by the 'Intent' family of hearing aids. I hope this helps, Matthew
I’m new to wearing hearing aids and am within my trial period with the Phonak Paradise Life. Your thoughts on the comparisons between the Oticon More and the Phonak Paradise? For example Phonak has hands-free and motion detection etc. But is the More more clear and detailed? What do you think? Recommend?

Thats a great question and they are two premium products from manufacturers that are both at the top of their game at the moment. There are pros and cons of both of them, which are hard to answer on here. Check out my video on Paradise and hopefully this should help. I may do a comparison video at some point if you'd find it useful?
I'm on a trial with Oticon More rechargable version and the sound is indeed much more refined than with other aids I've tried (Starkey - one year, Resound - 4 years, Phonak Paradise - tried and not worked well for me, not sure why). It's not loud at all, just normal and very natural. All of the disturbing sounds that were hurting by ear drum and triggering me aches in my head, neck, spine, hands, just dissapeared now. I'm a hearing aid user with a severe hearing lost in my right year and profound in my left one. I hope this reviews is helping out people as I was really struggling to find some good reviews from other hearing aids users to help me find the best for helping me with having a normal life. @@laurady thank you. This is very helpful. Sadly, my audiologist doesn’t work with Oticon and my resources are limited for providers that are on my insurance. However, I will stay with the Phonak and definitely watch the progress with Oticon for my next pair. Thank you for taking the time to reply!

@@laurady I started with Oticon More, and now I’m using the phonak Paradise on my second trial. With Oticon I did not experience the harsh sound that people used warned me of, before your brain gets used to it. Then I tried Phonak and I can’t wait to go back to my Oticon. Everything feels loud, harsh and metallic. I can’t understand my kids when they are whispering in my ear, and I can’t well with loud noises around. The most notable change is that I was outside in the yard and I heard an ‘alarm’ sound, that then I realized it was a bird. With Oticon this was one of the things I noticed the most, hearing the birds again in my garden. Very large difference between one and the other in my case. I really think this new AI technology within Oticon makes a difference. I hope this helps to others.
Matthew - ive been using the OPN for the last 5 years. They now require microphone replacements as there is 1 mic on each unit not functioning. My audiologist is suggesting I step up to the MORE1 instead claiming the tech is superior. But is it enough of a jump to warrant the spend? My biggest struggle is hearing in noisy environments (restaurants & bars, etc...). Do you agree that an upgrade from OPN to MORE makes sense and is worth the $6 spend as opposed to the $1k fix? For a pair of Oticon More 1 costing North of £4k why is there no 'Normal' Bluetooth capability.. is there a cheaper alternative to the Connect device? I hear the TV fine but spend more time on the computer watching 'Hearing Tracker.'.. and a few others😋

I believe the original reason for using the low energy form of bluetooth was to preserve battery life and up until recently it was the only way of having bidirectional bluetooth streaming with the phone picking up the users voice and the hearing aids producing the sound.
The connectclip is the only real option unless you're watching directly from a phone/ipad.

Hi I found your video very informative. Had Oticon More miniriteR fitted last week. Have hissing noise in all programmes and have not had to turn the volume down on my tv. The only programme I notice a difference on is P3 the music sounds better. Am waiting for my audiologist to make contact remotely as there has been an issue signing up to the remote app. Resolved now but still waiting. Have consigned the hearing aids to their box for now. At initial fitting I told audiologist I could hear hissing noises he just turned them down and said the brain will adjust. ???
Hey Maggie, thank you for taking the time to feed back. I think a follow up with your audiologist should overcome some of these issues. There is an acclimatization phase with any hearing aids, so there will be some time before things settle down and become normal. Thanks for watching, Matthew

I have the Mores for a year now. Best digital aids I had until now. HOWEVER, in the area of connectivity, Phonak wins with miles ahead. Connectivity of the More with android phone is cumbersome, limited to just a very few phones and very buggy whileas in my testing period with phonak/unitron they were very reliable at this point. Also, the roger family of devices beats the phonak devices for connectivity (tvconnector, remote Mic, etc.)
Of only I could get the oticon more with Roger devices and Phonak bluetooth funcionality.

I have the Oticon More 2R, but I rarely use them because their bluetooth is limited to phones or Apple products. My computers, laptops, tablets, TV, Amazon Alexa, don't work with them and it is too much trouble. I will wear the left one sometimes and just leave my right ear open. My Doctor told me they were Bluetooth so I thought they would connect to everything bluetooth. $4,200 waste of money.

Being a Android phone user the update for the latest Oticon update that supposed to address the Bluetooth issues was sent out to Samsung and supposed be released in 2022 in the USA. As best as I could determine that has yet to occur as of this comment. The hearings by themselves work well enough. The Bluetooth function for me are very limited at best. Failure to fix / correct the Bluetooth limitation is the single reason I will not purchase Oticon hearing aides in the future. I briefly considered purchasing an Apple IPhone . The Android phone meet my needs better than the Apple products.

That's outrageous! If that is a London high-end clinic price, I reckon it would be cheaper to take your custom to a reputable dispenser in the country and use just some of the savings on rail tickets or petrol!

One of my Oticon More 1 only 6 months old, haven't been abused stopped working, flashing orange in the charger. I've been trying with no luck to get the manufacturer to repair this defective hearing aid which cost thousands of dollars. So far I'm not impressed with the quality or customer service.

There's an adjustment in RUclips settings where you can slow the audio speed down. At .75 it is much more listenable.
There are also subtitles, I use them and actually speed up the audio to 1.25 most of the time.
