PART 1,2&3!! PREGNANT & FILTHY JUDGE BOYD FURIOUS WITH JAIL

  • Judge Boyd's courtroom temperature just rose a few degrees. She likely saw a sight that enraged her - a pregnant inmate, brought in from prison for her court appearance, clad in filthy clothes. But the worst wasn't over. Upon closer inspection, it became evident that even the supposed cleanliness of a standard prison sheet couldn't be relied upon. This blatant disregard for basic human decency, especially for a woman in such a vulnerable state, likely ignited a firestorm within the judge. You can almost hear the booming voice ready to express his outrage at the prison's failings.

    This woman is a prime example of the problems with America's mental health system. She has an issue being compliant with her medication regimen. Being homeless does not help the situation, either. I have a feeling that her father has washed his hands of her. At 30 years old, she should be flourishing instead of failing. Without proper treatment, she will be stuck in the system until she dies. This is why we need more inpatient mental health beds and better services. She needs medication, stability, regular routines, therapy, etc.

      There is lots of help out there. IF someone doesn't want the help then that is their choice and have to deal with the consequences. Are you saying the government should for people to take medication by force?

      You can write all those lovely sounding talking points but unless you support force feeding patients meds, it’s not going to get you anywhere with these young mental health patients. Even if I were, or society was, in favour of such a thing I’m not sure how you would find them or mandate they show up for medications. One of the most enduring issues for these young patients is non-compliance with a medication regimen. There are a number of reasons for that fact but these patients very soon get on the treatment merry-go-round, admission in a profoundly disregulated state, facility reinstates medication regimen and they’ll have a few short days of in-house counselling, once again under control and able to articulate that understanding and promise blah, blah, blah, discharge. Over and over. And by young I will emphasize that this time frame continues easily into forties and fifties. I’ve spent an endless number of hours securing placement for such patients only to find that two days after they occupied their new home situation they absconded never to return. Staying on medication properly means no drinking, psychotropics have a variety of not so fun side effects and it can take effort to find an effective combo, a process many of these patients won’t stick around for. They can cause impotence, a side effect hardly likely to appeal to young people. Group home situations, which are probably the best early living situation until long term stability can be established, have rules and this population doesn’t work well with rules. They become very soon habituated to the system, they know how it works, what they have to say to get out if they end up on a hold, AGAIN. There are a certain number of mental health patients who truly need to be in long term mandated care. Closing all the long term facilities was a bit like turfing out the baby with the bathwater. For the rest, under current mental health laws, I see no viable solution for the majority of them.

      The system talks a good talk about helping people, but when it comes down to it and they have to spend any time or money on it, they blame the patient by saying she did not ask for help. “She must ask for help or we can do nothing.” People in this condition are often treated as broken and disposable. It’s disgusting.

      Trustees do the laundry. If they are giving out dirty items, they are doing it on purpose. It’s the kind of thing that a base human with a tiny bit of perceived power will do ( see POLITICIAN )
      This woman is being judged by her peers, lol.
      Bottom line is, if you can’t do the Time, don’t do the Crime. She should have clean clothes and bedding, absolutely, and when The Judge noticed the clothes in this state could have tattled on the treatment she receives but she did not.. she simply seized the opportunity presented to her by the judge and expounded on it a little. Well Done.
      That’s a move by a good survivor. We are all survivors, some do it without going to jail though.

      she picked jail because she has likely realized that being outside of jail and still being responsible for other people including her kid is actually harder. Being on the outside and not having a job is HARD for a person in this situation. Being homeless in Texas has to be hellish. She doesn’t have a job to afford food. She has a court ordered probation officer…which most people don’t understand is not free. She is required to go to a bunch of classes and take courses in order to meet the court’s criteria…but she would actually need to travel to those locations…which is difficult to do when you have no home and no transportation. This would be the obligation for at least two years, where if she failed she would have to return to jail anyway, and rack up more charges and court costs.
      The positive of just going back to jail is that she could be released in 10 months instead of 12 and would not have any other restrictions once she got out. In a lot of ways, this can be better if you want to be released with a completely clean slate. Not great options, but I understand her choice.

The woman actually had a pair of shorts on that the judge couldnt see under her oversize t shirt hanging over her. She was in court wearing the exact same clothing ahe was wearing out on the street when she was arrested. The jail said inmates didnt get jail issued uniforms untill after they had been there a set amount of time. I do think that was a stupid policy and the jail changed that policy afterwards so that every inmate gets issued a jail uniform right after they see the magistrate or judge and they are issued a bond that they cant pay or they are held with no bond. But it made the news and you can look it up online where the jail fired back and showed the woman had the same shorts on that she was wearing out in public when she got arrested and the judge and lawyer couldnt tell because her t shirt was pulled out and over the shorts.

      Government-run mental institutions were houses of horror for the patients, so well-meaning activists got them closed, also asserting that mental health patients needed the freedom to make their own decisions. Now in many states an adult with mental health issues can't be forced into treatment unless they are shown to be a danger to themselves or others. So they can be off meds, lose jobs and housing due to erratic and/or destructive behavior, and be lost on the streets, and nobody can do anything for them. I've seen it happen to close relatives of mine; the illness makes them THINK they're fine, and there's nothing anyone can make them do.

  • @lostineggsaisle
    @lostineggsaisle 3 месяца назад +7

    This is a huge problem in our jail system. In a lot of jails there are guards that either flat out don't want to do their jobs or they get a job as a prison guard so they can mistreat people. They look at inmates as less than human and they jump at the chance to deny them something. Some of them will let women sit in their own blood for days before they'll give them a hat or a tampon. They will go inmates one uniform, one pair of underwear, one hotel room size bar of soap, one travel size thing of toothpaste, and a miniature toothbrush. That might be all the hygiene products you get for a month. Privately run jails are the worst offenders. Of course, you can buy extra hygiene products from commissary, but if you don't have family to help you and you don't get any money you're screwed. At least in prison you're given an opportunity to work and earn a few cents a day to put back for hygiene supplies. In jail you have no options.
    I don't understand how humans can treat other humans so horribly. Yes, the people in jail did break the law. Most of them did anyway, but a large percentage of them are in there for a non-violent drug-related crime. They haven't hurt anybody. They don't deserve to be treated like animals or worse than animals.
    I see a lot of people saying "do the crime do the time", but doing the time shouldn't consist of being treated in humanely. The people that say this obviously have never been in a situation where they had people looking at them like they were less than.
    I really feel like everybody should have to do at least one day in jail just so they can see what it's like. There isn't one person on this planet more than one mistake or one false allegation away from a jail cell.

    Is Judge Boyd blind? This woman is in obvious need of mental health intervention. A year in jail even if over half of that is JSAT doesn't really help her it only delays the inevitable situation of another homeless person in need of mental health being out in the streets and committing crimes of an ever increasing seriousness in order to survive. Just sending her to jail and fining her $4000 which she obviously doesn't have does not serve this defendant nor does it serve the community.

      A lot of people with mental illness like jail because they're healthier in there. I was in jail for a period of time and it was really structured. Even though there were a lot of people it was not chaotic. They have breakfast time, wake up, classes, lunch, activities etc. dinner, downtime then lockdown. Some pods are worker pods that have trustees that work. For many that's the only structured life they've ever had in their lives.

    • @Katfishforrent
      @Katfishforrent 3 месяца назад +1

      Jail is not the only stable place for her. There are mental hospitals/mental health facilities, that she could and should be staying at. Jail is doing nothing for her, but delaying actual treatment she needs, and possibly making her mental health worse. I do kind of believe she should serve SOME jail time. Just as a consequence for her poor decision. But intentions matter, and she is clearly not a criminal, acting out of Malice. She is mentally unstable, and made a stupid and dangerous decision. The punishment she has received is too harsh for her crime, and is setting her up for continuing failure. It's not fair.

    There are so many comments about needing mental health facilities. These facilities are expensive. It could cost between $150 and $350 a day per person. Even more if there is violence. Everytime a governor wants to raise taxes to pay for things like this people dont want to pay it usually because it is charged through property taxes and people cannot afford an extra $50 per every $1000 of home value. Those costs are passed on to rentals too. No one wants to pay more.
