Then double up on the windows too! The striped curtains would make a nosey officer knock on your van and have nosey neighbours reporting your van during the next lockdown. And yes it is coming!
Will, you need a hi viz jacket and hard hat on show in the cab so you look like a builders van. Nobody would question it being parked on the road then.
If you made your bed vertical, you can have a bathroom + toilet in the back area. The bed you can put it on the right side of the van facing the kitchen, and make the bed can be flip to the wall.
I completely understand your excitement at having a bin. I was camping 5 years without one and when I finally gone one it was and still is the best thing ever
I loved this video. Keeping it real with the park ups. Good to see you get kicked out then find somewhere else to sleep. And great to see that you can go on trips when you’re building your van. Oh how I wish. Looking forward to the next one.
You know your van is really taking shape. Hope you solve the leak. I think IKEA would’ve kicked you out even if it was the voyager. Your van has so much more potential and is already more comfortable with space and the ability to stand up. Can’t wait to see it finished
Do yourself a very basic kitchen before you go away on a longer trip, it'll make cooking & cleaning up easier & you can always change it once you decide to finish the build

I looked up the rules for quiet hours and it seems it's 11pm to 7am at least in my area as noise is a local council issue. My neighbor sparked up a concrete saw cutting slabs in his drive way at 7.15am one morning a few weeks back. This is why I wish I lived in a van. Don't like the folks next door no problem. Just fire up and go somewhere else. It's not so easy when you've got a mortgage and everything tied up in bricks and mortar.
It is interesting to see what boondocking in the UK/Europe is like, compared to here in the states. but with that in mind, it is getting harder in some areas, mostly the eastern part. I'm looking forward to seeing where you are off to next!

1. Learn the height (and width) of van to avoid an "11 foot 8" incident. (Watch the vids on utube) 2. Get TWO good locks on steering wheel. I had my Tranny stolen, now I have a large crossbar lock across steering wheel, PLUS a thick bike chain wrapped around seat bolts and through steering wheel. A lot of bother? No, each one takes just ten seconds to fix in place - much less bother than if van is stolen, believe me. 3. I usually park in residential streets - so long as you don't block driveways, adhere to any parking restrictions, and generally don't disturb, then all should be ok. And don't forget to lock yourself in before you turn in for the night. Great video 😄
It's a good idea if you're frequently changing vans but I know my new van is 1.9m tall and my work van is 8'6. Other work van is 9ft. Please leave the van at that state. It gives you something different from other vloggers. I mean just a few more stuffs but the semi-finished look is so awesome.
I thought I was subscribed I didn't realize it wasn't until you popped up in my feed. You can make that pillowcase/ curtain a lot more like a blackout if you slip a piece of cardboard or reflective insulation inside of it. I think a lot of Van dwellers and stealth campers are early birds which is one reason I'm not a very good stealth camper I don't go to sleep until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. That first bar that you went under was a height bar if you touched it then you wouldn't fit under the roof but it is always a good idea to know exactly how tall you are. If your solar panels are your highest part you can lay a board across them and measure from the board to the ground. If your roof vent is the highest point you can do basically the same thing but you need to be able to prop the stick up level. Of course you can also measure how tall you are at the solar panels and add an extra inch or two for the vent and then add an inch or two for safety sake or for your own sanity.. lol.. I watched several other UK van channels, they tend to park in what I would call rest areas but I think you call them layups or layouts as well as the usual places we do over here like medical facilities/doctor's offices, barrister / lawyer offices, shopping plazas like the one you ended up eating breakfast in (I smother my sausage egg and cheese and mustard to hide the taste of the egg) museums and places like art galleries. Over here most people don't walk to the bar/pub and if they drink too much they leave their vehicle so that's usually another good spot.. places that use vehicles like yours, plumbers, roofers etc their yard may be locked but you can often park in front of the office
Hi Will, I’m not sure which video I’m watching but you asked why people watch- I am an avid camper but have only recently started going more often as my children are now 4 and 6 and both will Be going to school soon- I recently converted my citreon grand C4 picasso as a solo camper and it turned out pretty good, but although I used IKEA shelves on the flat as a bed frame as width and height were good i think it’s still to heavy- thinking about a pine child bed frame from IKEA as I’m under 5ft, I like watching as I’m getting the bug and may end up Converting a van- I have an ALLPOWERS battery, a water pump and tankless water heater and basically everything you could want in a van without the van. You’ve plain things really well and if there tricky parts it’s good to watch, I also Like getting ideas of places to park up - even the little tip on trying to park somewhere as flat as possible. There are some places up in Scotland I’m looking forward to trying- I also hot tent camp- wood burning stove inside tent but as a solo female camper I don’t sleep well as I don’t always feel safe- unless I’ve time to be in an area to see how busy it is and kind of people that go.
If you have reregistered your van as a camper van your less stealthy as security can do a plate check and will see it's a camper, big if you don't then they might be less likely to church as they think it's just a regular van
The cheese is always stuck to the wrapper 🤣 thank you for making me laugh, made me feel better about my first-time camping, I created a monsoon while smacking a massive water bubble in the awing, tidal wave over everyone drying towels
One great place to stealth camp is in a motel parking lot, one of those big fancy places with a big parking lot. There is a lot of room, and no one pays much attention to a vehicle parked a little ways away from the rest of them (but, not too far).
I have slept in the layby, by the recreation ground, that you first stopped at. I used to work nightshifts in London stopped there for 'fourtywinks' on the way home one morning, woke up at 2pm in the afternoon!

6:04 there are magnets that get activated only after a twist, and deactivated with "un-twist". Google 'em. What would be a better long-term solution though are magnetic strips sawn into the perimeter of the blackout blinds. By the way, that roof leak needs to be sorted as a priority No.1

Just catching up on your wonderfully entertaining videos. I'm from the states (Pittsburgh, PA) and that steering wheel lock is called a club. it is a real joy watching you ninja camping. i can see that you are learning . in one year you will have it all sorted. then you will write a book and we will gain knowledge from your experiences. either that or you will end up in nick for being a vagrant. but no worries keep making them videos. thankyou and good luck. p.s why does your vent in the van sound like jet turbine engine. i am sure that the black out curtains will follow. also if you dont mind me suggesting. get a council reflector jacket put it on the drivers seat. and get a builders helmet and put it on the passenger side seat. make sure it has old tar stains on. then people might think that its bob the builders van...or patricks road building van.. embrace your surroundings blend in .
Good video, big thumbs up from deepest Dorset 👍 I would have thought there is far less chance of getting bounced pulled up in an urban street than in a private car park 😂 In my neck of the woods we often have the odd van stay overnight and it wasn’t till I started watching your channel I started to take a second look😂😂. So I doubt very much my other 20-30 neighbours would think twice! And as long as you choose that “house for sale plot” or high hedge blocking you from the house I recon you will be golden👍. ATB mate, regards from deepest Dorset.
Had a mpv like the one you started off with (VW variant), went to a high top van like you, then went back to a mpv mainly as a high top van really does limit you on where you can go. Did consider a low top van, but vans in general just stand out too much now that every ones boondocking since Covid started and everyone and their dog is converting vans, they attract too much attention... Fair play for sticking with it though!
you should get a big curtain behind the van seats so you can pull it over when you are settling in for the night then it blocks the light from being seen.
that's my neck of the woods! I would have thought the b and q carport right beside the ikea one would have been better, as there's more of a reason for a van to be randomly parked up for a while. Similarly the cinema too, would be open late for sure
my best nights sleeps were in the back on my Galaxy but i did use ear plugs if it was too noisy. you should check out the peak district, i just got back from there and i saw plenty of amazing places to park up for the night.
Gated facility is the worst place to stealth camp lol, that's like an orange hiding in an empty basket. Also you don't seem to have a curtain that separates the driving seat with the main room...

Awesome video will! Great to meet you good luck with the build!
I don't understand how you can be so funny without trying to be funny its amazing
Eee love these videos.... Make me chuckle! So much seems to wrong around you.... I mean I know van life will have its issues but still
As payback to ikea I think your next visit to the store should include an act of intimacy in one of their beds 😂
I wonder if you could mount a small TV on the side of the van , for the footy ?
...in time for the World Cup
Scotland and Wales is so beautiful. Devon is too. 👍 the van is awsome 👍
Have you thought about black out curtains. You need a pair to go behind the seats. Try to remember your old set up. You were spot on then.
it is a real joy watching you ninja camping. i can see that you are learning . in one year you will have it all sorted. then you will write a book and we will gain knowledge from your experiences. either that or you will end up in nick for being a vagrant. but no worries keep making them videos. thankyou and good luck. p.s why does your vent in the van sound like jet turbine engine. i am sure that the black out curtains will follow. also if you dont mind me suggesting. get a council reflector jacket put it on the drivers seat. and get a builders helmet and put it on the passenger side seat. make sure it has old tar stains on. then people might think that its bob the builders van...or patricks road building van.. embrace your surroundings blend in .
thanks for the tips I'll grab a high vis
Loving these videos will keep up the good work on the van build you should name your van Mary as the number plate :)
Will, get some hippy rugs. You can shake off dirt outside your home and wash them as needed x
On second thoughts you might slip when cooking 🧑🍳 bad idea lol 😂 xxx
When you going to sort the leak out Will?
hopefully asap
Keep up the great work from down Under
You are SO funny! I like to use transparent plastic boxes for storage as well. They are practical because you can see what is in them.
Your videos are so fun you're a legend all best to you! 😊👍
I love all your stealth camping anyway could you please be versatile with your lunch/dinner menu and please prepare your breakfast too 😅 hugs😘
I'll see what i can do
Will that lock goes the other way with the longer part near windscreen so u can’t turn wheel it will hit the post by window xx
Northumberland Will, you’ll love it 👍
that's my neck of the woods! I would have thought the b and q carport right beside the ikea one would have been better, as there's more of a reason for a van to be randomly parked up for a while. Similarly the cinema too, would be open late for sure
Great video, nice to see you staying in some places I recognise!
Loved the video. Just happy to see you getting out and about. 🙂
my best nights sleeps were in the back on my Galaxy but i did use ear plugs if it was too noisy. you should check out the peak district, i just got back from there and i saw plenty of amazing places to park up for the night.
Gated facility is the worst place to stealth camp lol, that's like an orange hiding in an empty basket.
Also you don't seem to have a curtain that separates the driving seat with the main room...
Thank you so much for your videos! You really help cheer me up! Your the best!!!😃👍
When are we going to see you in Torbay in Devon! Some lovely quiet places so you can sleep well. I have a coffee with your name on it at our local cafe in Paignton.
You not got a Guy Richie part yet? Lol. That new van is positively a Palace compared to the old girl!
Good to see you're doing well :)
