    Will, great video. Batten,
    1. leave it as a length.
    2. The thickest edge goes next to the silver fence ( straight edge ).
    3. Use the push stick on the thickest edge next to the silver fence to finish the cut.
    4. Then drill holes as a length.
    5. Then cut the batten as desired.
This method will save a lot of time and hopefully saves you fingers.

Oh my days you screaming at the saw I choked on my tea 🤣 I've worked with power tools near since I could walk so I've maybe a slight advantage not sure my own van build agrees 😅 I done my ceiling the same as she's only a med roof but I'm a short arse so works for me to stand in. Wish my videos were half as good and entertaining as yours 🤣

Hi Will. You need to have the wider piece next to the fence so the waste falls away and you pass the piece you are keeping through with a push stick between the blade and the fence. Keep your fingers well out of the way. Van is looking good.

Carpenter Will, at it again! Good work dude, you got it done in the end! I have a fear of table saws too, the piece that you run next to the guide(fence) should be the bit you keep so your angle needs to be the opposite if that makes sense.

Hey Will, just a little tip when you next use the table saw stand on the side of the saw blade that the rip fence is on and this also gives you a smoother motion through the blade rather than standing side on, you have better control. Also note that the rip fence should be on the opposite side to your dominant hand to make it easier to use. So left handed stand on the right with the rip fence also to that side of the blade. Hope this helps

If you're ever going to use the table saw for other jobs where you want a cleaner cut (wood that's going to be on show), i would recommend changing the saw blade to one with more teeth and preferably one that's been lazer cut (instead of stamped cut). Hope this helps.

Hi will, really enjoying your build , some advice on your table saw, as everyone is saying waste part of the timber furthest away from the fence, rip your timber to width (on table saw) in long lengths before cutting it to length (chop saw ) &' hey Preston ' no missiles! , set the cut depth of the blade just above the timber thickness & one other thing, keep the crown guard on ......PLEASE !! Keep up the good work

Just for when you use it next you should be pushing the peice that's between the fence and the blade
The other peice is your waste material so the peice between the blade and the fence is in this occasion the Batton you are using for your roof. Can be good practice to use two push sticks too.

When you are using multistranded cable and screw on terminals, please use wire end ferrules. 20 to 25£ for set including the crimping pliers in amazon. The ferrules tie all strands together and ensure all of them take part in conducting the current. Lever operated connector blocks are also way easier to use than those screw types, also very affordable. edit: spring pressure on wires instead of steady pressure of the screw; copper will loosen over time with connectors you used.
Likely you are already hanging the curtains and deciding what kind of tapestry would be best in the library wing when you read this, but maybe with your next van project.

Will, it's probably too late now but you could have cut one full length piece of wood and put kerfs on the back side. Then the wood would bend when pressed upward and followed the curvature of the roof perfectly.
