Kerry I did my 500 Sport without finding it necessary to remove the plastic panel. The top nuts on the strut mounts are easily removed and replaced with an offset box wrench.
Yes just pop the two end clips and jam a folded towel or piece of wood in to hold the plastic panel away to give more space, this guy made a so so job even harder
Great video. I need to do the strut mounts on my '12 Sport and don't feel like paying $400 in P&L, this will really help. Maybe I'll drop in some Koni's and H&R springs after the winter.
I have to do both front struts on my 2013 Abarth. do you know if the struts are the same as the fiat 500 pop/lounge struts? I have a spare set of those laying around. I just don't want to effect the ride of my car because I'm trying to cheap out. haha Any feed back would be great. Thanks
Matthew your Abarth struts are Koni and are very different in performance than any of the other 500’s. I have a 2012 Sport with stock struts that I plan to replace with Abarth (Koni) struts.
Thanks Bud! I am just starting the Mods on my '13 Abarth.. You got some good videos! I am thinking about documenting mine on here too.. there are not too many videos that go in depth.. Thanks again!
I feel your pain. I used to work on planes and this happened all the time. And the worst part was because of air worthiness regulations, you can't really leave it there if you can't find it or it's too hard to get. You ALWAYS gotta find it. The cramped bay of the Fiat brings back bad memories lol.

I have a 2016 500 trekking and it’s making a noise when i hit rough pavement, will it be the shocks? It has 50k miles
Thanks will do!!
The upper strut mount ( aluminium ) you mention they're aftermarket ? Where exactly did you get them can you let me know thank you .
When should i replace shocks/Struts?? My car is only 3 years old
Nice, comprehensive video. Torque specs would be nice to have though for the reassembly.
Looks like you didn’t need a spring tentioner to remove them from the front shocks. Is that right?
I didn't need one but don't stand over the top of it. Stand to the side.
I gotta do the shocks on a 2013 500 pop they are the stock ones will I need a shock compressor to take them out the spring

We're you having a clunk from the front suspension? Thinking I may have a bad bump stop/isolate or strut mount.
Jounce bumper.. cold weather will kill them making the clunk noise.
