I love this! Being a Protestant convert to orthodox I haven't seen many icon corners. Beautiful. My husband and I have been brought into the church on Holy Saturday this year. We really enjoy your videos and are blessed by them. We love your channel and love the humor. 😄 The light hearted nature of your videos help make orthodoxy more approachable to Protestants. God bless!
If you’re talking about Archbishop Dmitri, he has! My dad was at the re-burial or whatever it’s called. His body was uncorrupt. Also I got a blessing from him as a young child 😁
OMG this is so beautiful! I made one as well a few years ago. It's the most sacred place in my home. If my home were to catch on fire, I would salvage my prayer corner first, then my relatives haha just kidding. Thank you for sharing your prayer corner with us brother in Christ ❤
I agree about St. George. Those eyes are staring through you. It's a beautiful icon corner. Cheers from a Canadian Roman Catholic. I have many icons which I have written myself.
Lol, I just keep binge watching your stuff, I not only learn a lot from you but also need the laugh. I loved the commentary in the last minute, partly due to shared guilt of "prayer minimalism," lol
It's a lovely and charming tour with a very amusing quip for a conclusion. Also, I didn't know Atrus' study had an icon corner. You'll forgive me, the general musical atmosphere and the focus on the desk items just evoked Myst and D'ni for some reason.
Love the blue backgrounds and frames..... I am used to the red brown... Love your sense of humor.... I just discovered you, will make sure to watch all your videos.
I pray to have an icon corner like yours one day, it's beautiful and harrowing. I think my favorites are the White Angel and the gorgeous velvet one; I mean all are gorgeous but those struck me the most. Saint George's eyes too I couldn't even look at long, I struggle with eye contact in general and his eyes were so real! Thank you for showing us all this. I love the calming music too, what is it?
Have you thought about painting your own icons with acrylic paint as the medium? It would make a great medium if you intend to make an icon to pass down through the generations because acrylic paint takes an estimated 400 years to fade on direct sunlight or fluorescent light and if kept out of direct sunlight it basically almost never fades.
I see you have a King James with illustrations by Gustave Dore, my sister got me one for christmas , its absolutely beautiful. Which bible do you most commonly read? Do you read mostly the bible and church fathers, or do you find enjoyment in other works of literature also? Thanks for making another great video, its a joy for me everytime you upload something!
As a Catholic I have to ask my Orthodox brethren, why would you use the protestant bible edited by Shakespeare for a heretic prince? It was vandalised of many books and is a poor translation even if it sounds beautiful. I might quote it as I grew up in a protestant country where that is what we hear but to study the bible with that version? Only if there was not a good Catholic or Orthodox translation because I know where that came from, I do not know King James.
There aren’t many good orthodox English translations. The orthodox study Bible is good just because it has all the books. The English converts seem to use any translation that is credible.
The first icon in Russia is called the Almighty (Вседержитель , in Greek - παντοκράτωρ). You said that your patron saint is St. George, and I am from a city named after him and he is the patron saint of Groda. My city is called Yuriev-Polsky (Юрьев-Польский).

I think it's just once a bunch of people are pretty sure he's a saint, he is. Then Priests'll mention him, and their bishops, and then their Patriarch. If your dude is probably a saint, ask people about it. Pray on it. Maybe he'll be like Saint Nicholas and pop in, let you see your right. If not, no biggie. Typically a Synod meeting will be called to investigate, and as long as he didn't steal from the cookie jar while he was little and was good, he'll be canonised. Before Canonization, they are in the "Glorified phase", ie some think he's a Saint, including some priests etc, but the Synod hasn't made a decision.
