So cool to see this. I used to run the Maui Princess back in the late 80's - early 90s. And I sailed a Hobie 16 to Oahu from Kaanapali in gale conditions in 1975. Also sailed across the Kaiwi channel over 500+ time (tugs, ferry, my 40' boat). I'm stoked to see all this energy entering the Pailolo (slap you silly channel). Geev um boyz and galz!

Mahalo from Maui! I hope you only used the jib on the 16' Hobie upwind run to Kaanapali. You have lived it, Stoked to see you appreciate what they are achieving
! Amazing to see the speed in real time.

@@tonymenze Downwind reach from Kaanapali to the Alawai in Honolulu. Pitchpole outside Kaunakakai - land - reef the main, ditch the jib - and then across the Kaiwi with 35kts. Malolo hitting us in the shoulders and face. Skittering down-swell, almost unable to round Portlock but for a wind-shift. Good fun days.

Is there a story behind the two participants waving their arms near the end?
