Very Good - I bought a fake off Ebay. The strap posts were not threaded - just pushed in with some kind of adhesive keeping them there. Also, had a single 2025 battery instead of dual 395 batteries. Found this all out a year after I bought it and the battery died.
Just for those out there who dont have the real watch sitting next to them. What this watch is from is called "The grey market." Its when the manufacturer illegally makes product ether after their contract was canceled or through back door sales. The way to catch ALL grey market products is the pieces of the product that are patented in house by the company. In this case you can see that everything is a little too accurate, that means they had the original molds and schematics, but not the quality to manufacture. The smaller and easier to go cheap pieces are the dead give away... Paint, metal quality, buttons, screws, rubber, ext.

It would have been nice to have a real compass in the room to compare with both watches for genuine accuracy.
Imagine the effort required to create a copy of the fake tin can it comes in then add the effort to create such an accurate copy of the watch with all of the plastic mouldings and internal electro-mechanical parts and software.
A huge effort indeed, so there must be a huge profit worth earning here.
Just a pity that such brilliance couldn't be best directed at producing something to compete with Casio, rather than merely imitating it.

Look how sharp the second hand moves on the real one. On the fake one, you can see how the second hand sakes, it's specially noticeable from 55 to 00.
The second hand isn't synchronized with the dial second on the fake one also. Clearly disturbing!

I unfortunately ended up with a fake (i got my money back and got rid of it) but if you've ever owned a g-shock before you will be able to tell from the tin alone.
Just watch how the second hand bounces around on each tick on the fake one and how form the second hand moves on the real one! We need more videos like these calling out all the fakes! Thanks!

Also if you try to look the time tilting the watch the number will show a shadow when the real watch stay solid regardless of the angle you try to view time.
You can compare second hand watch pointer - on fake when it moves you see that it jumps before it stops ( you can compare it on 5:43 ), on the original stops precisely.
The song at the beginning almost made me go straight for luminox or something else.

Heads up for all, if you are buying one from Japan, it will come without a warranty card. The manual book will be in all Japanese in a sleeve with the warranty for Japan only.
The packaging would be different as well.

@@traviswalker8933 Nope, the G Masters sometimes have the more luxury box. Some retailers still pack it with the standard slim black box.

The fake one on the last compass test was more accurate. They both started pointing lower right but the original one ended up poinint straight down at you.

Based on the facts, the original wins. However, I can't help but feel that in many other ways...the fake actually wins. The attention to detail that the "bootleggers" put into creating a mimic model is honestly quite astonishing, but of course...fake is still fake. Overall, excellent comparison, especially for the general public who have no idea that these types of fraud are exteremely ninja-like.

Hi, recently I have owned my new gshock mudmaster gg-1000-1a3dr. Do you know any difference between gg-1000-1a3cr and 1a3dr???
Im not really sure about the tag and the manual, coz I got my g shock straight from a casio showroom, the tag had the feature list and the bar code and the manual was same as what you showed in the fake one, but the rest was as same as what you showed in the real one

I have the exact same watch.. and I am relieved to find out that mine is the real one..
how can you confirm the real compass is accurate? just saying. I found my protrek wasn't that great with the sensors. I tested it against a real compass and my kestrel weather meter which had be calibrated.

May I ask how the fake feels against the original? cheap or do it feels sturdy as the original one and how are the weight against the original one also is it metal buttons on the fake one to?
If you notice the gear where it indicates which mode you have on the watch it moves faster on the fake while the real moves smoothly

Don't forget to look for the raised edge around the mode dial on an original. That fake one was flat.

For me , a gshock seconds hand should hit the markers all the time every time and that fake isn't doing that which is the biggest giveaway for me

There is just one thing you missed. The colored circle around the compass on the fake G-Shock is thicker thank the colored circle on the real G-Shock. I point this critical factor out only because if the fake watch is on display, an individual would be able to tell right away.

Lol. I have a fake g shock I bought for only $6.. It's surprising that it actually lasted for 5 years and still working pretty well.. Already replaced the battery once but it's amazing how it's actually still working.. Gshock is just so good that even fakes are reliable.

The main giveaway is the fake doesn't hit the second markers and has serious bounce in the hand. The real one is bang on.
