This is a Review of the Apple Vision Pro from a photographer's standpoint. Can you edit photos and video while using the Vision Pro? Does it work for the now, or is it something that isn't ready just yet. Should you buy it as a photographer? And why does it change everything? This is my review.

Been a fan for many years, and I'm not sure if you've ever shared that you have Nystagmus. My son (11) has it too and I've never met anyone else who does. Can't wait to show him this and hopefully he'll see it as an inspiration. So thank you for sharing that! Oh and also, thanks for doing this video! For Gen1 this really is impressive. I didn’t even feel this way with the gen1 iPhone.

Can you see better while wearing them? I also have poor vision and cant see far but take my glasses off to see close. I am thinking since the screen is soo close to my eyes it will enhance my vision just by wearing them. Any thoughts?
Cool device. I find that a monitor over 27" in Photoshop causes me eye fatigue so I went down from a 32". It's not much more than a good edzo display, but I would need to check it's range and accuracy. Did you find the large monitor resolution was good and did you experience any eye fatigue moving around in such a large world. I use keyboard shortcuts a lot so I am not sure all the pinch and zoom would speed up my workflow. Will have to hit the store to try it. Great for movie watching. Thanks
I had a good laugh when you were going to try to Undo on your keyboard when you couldn’t see it, and when you pressed the keys, try the screen briefly went to black and then started a commercial and I was like “Jared what did you do?!”

I am an Apple fan and it's pleasing to see that there are not many out there who have disliked the tech involved to make the Vision Pro. It is the first gen and even now interesting to see how You Tubers are applying it's uses. The F1 video concept and another using it to use with the DJI Mavic looks awesome. Can't wait to see what others come up with.
That's because you are an Apple fan and YT algorithm will ensure you get recommended videos alike. There's plenty of negative reviews, especially from Meta Quest 3 fans

I don't think that's possible, but damn, that's a great idea!
In theory it is possible when the camera has an App. Since the Vision can use iphone Apps, it could work already.
@@HaggenKennedy well it can be done with Iphone and iPad. so i would have though apple would have put that into this.
This is version 1.0 for the Vision OS (they just came out with 1.1), so don’t expect everything you would like to be there right away. I would bet that in the June developer’s conference, we’ll see a lot more features for later in the year with version 2 of the OS.
The Capture One and Cam Ranger iPad apps both work on AVP.
Can I use this with my Windows laptop?

No, you can rest your hands on your lap, and the VP can still see your gestures.
why were you not able to see your keyboard? that would be a very big concern for me, as I would what to use my MacBook Pro in conjunction with the Vision. Please explain that it is possible or not to see a keyboard. Thanks for the great content as usual.
You can use mouse and keyboard shown here at 13:10. He just didn’t have pass through mode on for most of the demonstration (since he was on “the moon”)
You can see the keyboard in pass through, and in immersion mode, you can also dial back immersion until you can see the keyboard and still have “the moon” or any other scene in front of you. Dialing back immersion seems to be made for being able to see your keyboard! This is one of those fine details that makes this product so usable and user friendly.
Since it uses an oled display so how is burn in and brightness ?
Did you get your Zeiss prescription inserts with it?

what is the point of that outside diplay? Increase the cost?
The spatial video side is going to be amazing for anyone that has tried the demo I'd love to see other videographers take on special video because I think that's the craziest part how immersive it is
I love the idea of being able to work with some privacy when I'm in more public spaces, but I think I would miss my keyboard...especially when writing code. Can you use your physical keyboard while staring at the virtual screen? I'll have to try that out in a demo.
Yes. You can connect with any brand Bluetooth keyboard and also with the Apple trackpad. Of course you can use it with a MacBook as well.
Editing in lightroom is cute and all... but what I really want to see is the apple Vision Pro used as a "focus or preview screen" for a dslr. Can you get your peeps on that? Thanks in advance.
That is an intriguing observation. It would be an enjoyable gimmick to have a sizable window of what the DSLR sees, until the HMD becomes the DSLR that you wear instead.
Does this accessory work with any computer, or only those made by Apple?
I look at it as a very expensive, luxury accessory for an already very expensive desktop computer.

So just got mine I have about 4hrs into it and maybe I missed a step but I can’t connect my iphone to it in any way not via Bluetooth not via airplay not in anyway I thought they could do that? Also the special videos you record on the iphone how do you view them on the headset????? Thanks to anyone that can help
Also my passthrough video feedback is super super blurry like you can’t even read a traffic sign lettering is that normal? Apple Store guy said that would clear up with the calibration and it hasn’t. I have 20/20 vision

I got mine yesterday. It’s certainly something from the future compared to other headsets. It does feel like a beta still but I’m here for it and will enjoy the ride.

Is the resolution high enough to make the pixels disappear? I have used different VR headsets and while they are sharp, seeing pixels or the screen door effect is distracting. I imagine the blur outside of the focus point helps but can you still see the pixels or is it getting to the point of true "retina display" where higher resolution wouldn't be any better?

Did you try using it as an "external monitor?" The Viture One makes an interesting "EVF."
Super cool device but if your primary use case is having "a display on the road", there are way cheaper options.
Why would anyone use this in a car?

Would it be cool ? I think it would be a cool experience to edit like this I could see myself laying down editing and listening to music . But definitely not too interesting to buy for me at least
Was this your first VR experience?
As a traditional photographer, I wonder if you consider "spacial video" a gimmick? No mention of it here, but a major feature of the headset. I assume you can capture 3D stills and view them as well. Didn't you have a video on a 360 camera? Can you view those recordings? What about editing them? I am just as interested in stereo photography as flat photography and would like your thoughts. Perhaps when these types of headsets become more common, 3D video and photography will be less niche.
A gimmick the way color was, and well, photography itself was. movies, Tv, etc.
My arms, shoulders and neck started to hurt just watching all those movements required for a basic edit. I like the concept but I think editing for more than a few minute would be exhausting. Maybe some sort of compatible control module like a loupedeck?
it's not an issue at all, I am using my mouse and keyboard as if I was using a desktop the same way.

The way the head straps changed the shape of your hair reminded me of Frieda from Peanuts who always went on about her naturally curly hair.
Jared. You can use your apple watch to unlock your phone instead of face ID. You can enable it in the face ID and passcode in the settings.
Apple Vision Pro: is the only way to create content with the new iPhone 15 Pro’s or can you use something like the Canon VR lens that goes on to the Canon R5?

try other vr or ar or mixed reality headsets there are programs that could do multiple displays and of you like you can play games on them when bored
As a photographer, videographer, and software engineer who lives in a van, I'm seriously considering getting one of these. Seems like a great tool for my lifestyle. But that price tag. Ooof!

Thank you for the video. I won’t be buying it (I’m old) but my oldest son has it. He’s a trainer at Apple and he’s teaching new users and other employees how to use it and train others. I’ve actually had face time calls with him and they are really interesting how can see his “desktop”.
He’s also using it to create video productions. I think so far everyone has been really impressed with what they are able to do with it when using it for real work and not just playing games. Take care.

It's absolutely amazing. The more I use it the less I want to work without it
Remember that this is AR and VR. If all you’ll want is AR then some sort of glasses will work, when good ones come out at some point. None of the ones I’ve tried currently are good. But if you want the VR for entertainment, games, etc., then glasses won’t work, and you’ll need goggles. That’s because of the light from the environment. VR requires dead black inside, but glasses intentionally allow the environment to enter with light coming in from the bottom, sides, and maybe even the top, so they won’t work. I tried the Microsoft HoloLens for that and it was terrible. By the way all of the industrial AR/VR headsets I’ve worked with are goggles too and heavier than this with most cabled to a powerful computer with worse resolution and slower response time. They also cost twice as much often enough for the higher end models and then the added cost of the computer. So just keep that in mind.

You sound like as if VR had already reached its limit like all the flatscreen devices or something while it's still in its 2% potential and Apple does something that other VR/AR doesn't so is still a very new experience plus better marketing

I have a billion idea for the Vision Pro and for any other VR headset. Advertising! Have apple open the headsets to receive limited advertising, imagine getting an ad for a product you like and being able to see the product in real 3D rendering format. This is the future. As a business owner, I would pay more than what I do on fb to reach those customers.

Imagine if you could have your cameras, viewfinder display Bluetooth connected to the Vision Pro, and then you would no longer have to have the camera right up against your face in order to see what your camera sees. Now you could put your camera really low or really high in a situation, where you don’t have to look directly through the viewfinder to see, frame, and capture what it is that you want to see.
Well this makes me want to shoot film.

Unliminted battery, desktop pc in a contact lenses form where you can connect any bluetooth devices on it, it can also track your whole body and face. I hope we have a wizard and magic by then

This thing is a game changer but not in its current form. Amazing tech but it needs to be lighter, smaller and cheaper. Sign me up for Vision Pro 2.
It sure is a next level tech but it still have something that is pretty much a cons like in other VR/AR such as comfort of wearing it, narrow field of view, lack of apps that is built from ground up for it (which can be improved the more devs working on it)

If you use a pinching motion on the price of Vision in a virtual space, you can shrink the cost down to zero. But to do that you have to purchase the Vision first with the special Pro Pricing pack, plus 5 years of apple care.

It's Hilarious how many comments are similar to those that I heard when the iPod came out, then when the iPhone came and when the iPad came out and of course when the apple watch came out. basically a lot of short sighted people looking at products from the mypoic lens of their limited experience and understanding. As usual this is clearly a new paradigm and people who are taking it lightly will end up on the same side of history as Nokia, Blackberry, Windows Phone, Zune, Palm Pilot, etc etc etc... so many companie and devices reduced to dust by not considering a clearly new pradigm carefully... I susppect a lot of folks will be converted as new apps, user experiences and interaction designs come online from developers and entrepreneurs... These are not comparable to any other vr headset on the market just when you consider these have an mac level computer in them. I also suspect highly specialized fields and users will benefit greatly from these (engineering, doctors, paraplegics, first responders, etc.)

I love Apple. As an artist, I have used many of their products to create art. They make great tools. But I still don’t get think the vision pro will be anything more than a niche product. Even when versions become smaller & cheaper over time. Maybe for gamers. But who wants to put one of these things on to create? Or for general use. I just find it even more isolating than the iphone is. It totally shuts you off from the world. I can’t imagine being around friends or family while wearing one of these. I prefer real life where I can actually look into someones real eyes.
Honestly meh, this wouldn't improve the work flow. It's cool, but I doubt this will replace using a mouse on pc.
As a Quest 2 user, for a first gen product, the Apple Vision is impressively small.

I believe one day we can play games without a controller, keyboard and mouse. We can play games just using our thoughts. Probably 20 years later from now on?
I would never use a VR to edit photographs or videos. I own 2 VR which are the playstation 4 VR and oculus VR. So far, they are only great for gaming and meditation and nothing more. Watching a movie on it is pointless. Doing meetings is also pointless. And i would never use it to edit media content. After 30 mins of usage, the VR can get heavy on your head and you start to sweat from it. I can't imaging editing media for 2+ hours on the headset as your hands will also get tired from moving it around too much. Vision Pro is a great gaming headset along with the playstation VR and Oclulus VR.
Now I understand why Apple not wasting time on making a foldable/bendable phone and go for something big instead like vr and ar. That is a right move from Apple even thought never were a fan of any of their products
The technology is interesting and impressive in many ways but pretty much every practical application I've seen of it thus far sucks and seems like way more hassle than a different way of doing it
Jared, you can use your Apple Watch to unlock your Apple computer and I believe the same for your iPhone.

It might be cool but I can just imagine the marks on my face it would leave, the sweat, and general discomfort of having this stuck to my head for long periods.
Coming from the Quest 3, my reaction was 'Man this is heavy, I feel like a twat having this cable/power brick and then.....its uncomfortable and then....and then.....My glasses don't fit (which is laughable) and then 20 mins later, I'm bored.

Quest2 and 3 can do this if you connect to a decent PC

No, they really can’t. Only the Quest Pro has proper eye tracking.

couple the goggles with something like a tourbox and you are set for ease. No need for the keyboard
