I know its only touched on here foviated rendering is insanely cool. A great way to have a perceivably higher fidelity graphical result by leveraging the excess compute to track your eyes. Tried my friends psvr 2 and baffled by the screen recordings versus the in headset experience
Excited to see your full review for the Vision Pro! The specs seem top-notch and the build quality is pure Apple. Curious about your opinion on Mac vs PC after full immersion.
@@T-ki3dp I mean. He loves it. He does not like everything outside of the headset. The ecosystem and included accessories. He just loves the headset itself and the technology and innovation it brings.
Stereo does wonders, lol. There's no spacial audio or dolby atmos coming through youtube. In fact, youtube doesn't support any basic surround audio, as it's all encoded in classic 2.0 stereo.
Oooh, one of the things I've been liking about the Vision Pro reviews and unboxngs is we get to see more behind the scenes of many channels, like seeing exactly what Linus sees on this set. Yes I know there've been other videos that do that too those were all kinda meh cameras on handheld devices. This is the first REALLY clear view of the setup AS Linus sees it.
Yeah I’m not an apple user so I’m not interested in terms of buying one but love em or hate em apple really does make products mainstream and as a VR user the more people who use it the better off for everyone
This is my only Apple device and it hasn't been a problem. Just had to make an Apple account and it just works from there, even iMessage and Facetime, which I didn't expect.
@@colindavidchi really doubt a $3500 vr headset is gonna go more mainstream than ones like quest and rift, even if apple is behind them. This is only for apple and tech enthusiasts.
Also, that actually uses VR a lot. The problem with the reviews that first appeared was that the reviewers were people who did VR but weren't VR enthusiast and i saw a lot of things that they clearly doesn't know about the current state of the market.
@@luckylanno Why you didn't expect? That device should never depend on other devices from same company like iphones, ipads and especially at that price point
In a decade or so, it would be nice to see midrange VR with displays that good but also benefiting from other progressive improvements (eye/hand/body tracking, foveated rendering, etc.), and a practical AI assistant (like, actually behaves like a useful assistant, intelligently interpreting verbal and written commands and dealing with 99% of mundane tasks. Such an AI would really be the future of convenience and productivity).
@@zachb1706 And also qualify as being 'midrange' in price (I'd put that around $1000 US at most). They're just being controversial for the sake of it. There are other super premium headsets, some that do certain things that the AVP isn't as good at (or just plain doesn't do), but they aren't cheap, which was a big part of my point that they conveniently ignored. Some of them cost a fair bit more than the AVP to boot.
Foveated rendering is definitely a cool trick for performance, but I hope an accessibility option will exist to disable it since people like me who have central vision loss rely on our peripheral vision to see things. I could imagine making that area even blurrier would kill the experience for us.
@@markclayton8977 Not really the only thing that's actually good is the low latency. Unless you're a follower of the apple ecosystem (srsly one of the worst religions out there), then I can see why you can't look at this objectively. Also did you mean the new era of displays? cuz the computer that's inside uses technology introduced in 1985.
the coolest thing for that virtue Mac display is that it is completely wireless, and yet the picture quality is just absolutely insane, wanna see if it works offline.
How Linus is with this headset is the beginning of the peak of the VR age 😂 Even if this obviously has existed, how Linus is in this video is a pre-represent of the real world of how most people would be using this headset and others and already have. I was laughing pretty much the whole time.
You already can. Live deepfakes exist. Apple has great security so unless you take someone’s physical device you aren’t getting their digital avatar. The voice would still require a live AI adjuster to complete the illusion.
@@bensemusx I was thinking of a scenario in the future where there’s a data breach and photorealistic scans of millions of people’s faces get stolen. But you’re right. It’s not like there’s an open ecosystem for that data to be used with. So Apple’s security wins. The perks of a closed ecosystem.
I got to play with Apple Vision Pro last week. Overall, I thought it was pretty cool! I noticed it has a cooling fan on it too which speaks to the power of the hardware. Good product, could maybe use a little refinement for those who are used to traditional VR headsets. For me, I did have a small accessibility issue with the headset, where I was having difficulty with eye tracking as a result of having muscle issues with my eyes that prevents me from always moving them in unison. The headset would get confused when I would use one eye to focus on something, or look in certain directions where movement can be problematic unless I really focus with both eyes. It did not get confused when I'd close one eye, or when I'd move both eyes in a normal fashion, though. Didn't have a ton of time with the headset but maybe there is an accessibility setting buried someplace that would help out.
Probably the only Apple product I've ever been excited about! Really hope other companies finally learn from this and give us a good premium headset that's polished and not just a gimmick
I just started getting 3D blu rays to watch in VR. My quest pro will do a great job for now until i get a headset with this kind of display. Hopefully from either valve or Samsung.
the foveated rendering is something I've noticed in a lot of the screen captures from other creators. however, you are the first to actually mention it when discussing the headset.
Im excited for this device to become significantly cheaper, or for other companies to start making alternatives. I think the Vision Pro could be really useful as a monitor / display substitute.
im literally waiting for it to go down in price and to be affordable and to have a good battery and fix some of the issues like it being heavy and ill get one
Being able to buy another product isn’t a good reason to have deficiencies in a different product. It’s a fair compromise from Apple’s part, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fair to take off points for it
I’ve used AVP for the past week with and without AirPods Pro and I can say without a doubt that the internal speakers on this are better than the AirPods Pro. Only full over ear headphones like AirPods Max or Sony XM5s would sound better than the internal speakers.
Lol 😂 -- on the Spatial Audio testing portion of the Video, I'm getting a surround experience using my Samsung Buds2 Pro whenever Linus turns his head. 😮
Well, its different kind of devices and different approach. Quests are still mostly for games and adult videos, and apples are for "spacial computing" with window persistence. So its not really a replacement. But i dont mind software update for my quest 2
@@Boxhead42 quick search showed that there's some kind of Quest App for MacOS. What's the use for it though? I imagine M2/M3 of any model wouldn't run VR games well enough. And Quests don't really support extra screen emulation.
Bluetooth mice work when using the Virtual Mac display, but only on the Mac portion. If you have a Trackpad, you can move the cursor between other VisionOS windows like iPadOS
The protector for the outerscreen is akso covering all the external cameras and ir blasters ect for tracking so it is important for youre experience too.
It would be really awesome to see a comparison video of a few of the top VR headsets that are on the market right now. Seeing how these compare to Meta's and Steam's for example would be what I'd love to see.
I appreciate the take on the price. I will absolutely be sticking with my Quest 3 and not spending 3.5K on a Vision Pro, but too many people get up in arms over it. On top of what you said, it's a first gen product that they don't want to sell too many of. This is for devs and wealthier enthusiasts. If they went the Google Glass route, only certain people would be able to buy it. And the price of that was 1.5K at like 1/20th the materials of the Vision Pro.
I’ve heard rumours that the bill of materials for the Vision Pro is around 1.5k. After you factor in manufacturing, shipping, software/R&D, taxes, sales, etc Apple is probably not making a lot of profit on this first generation.
except the GOOGLE GLASS was a BETA product only sold to be tested with sorry some of us have standards when it comes to multitrillion dollar companies selling us 3.5K products to BETA test it...

5:15 to be fair, someone already did a drop test of the device, and it's pretty sturdy. the front glass and the speaker arms are the most likely parts to break, but the speaker arms seem to be easily replaced and the front glass is super durable. besides, i think the light seal actually does function as a "lens protector" in a way. it's just... also $200... so it's not very cheap to replace. but it is easily replaced
@@GameTimeWhy to be fair (x2), apple clearly doesn't expect you to be using it on the go, and i doubt that through normal use, you're going to be scratching the front glass much

If I remember correctly, about 15 years ago I got X11 window forwarding working from one computer to another. I believe it sent the data for an app to another computer and then the other computer renders is rather than effectively just streaming a video feed. I don’t see why Apple couldn’t do that so you could have individual windows from your Mac rendered by the Vision Pro. That said, what would be even better is if the Vision Pro could just run a version of MacOS tailored for XR.
I can’t afford it but kind of disappointed that brand doesn’t have some sort of cover for the Vision Pro. It would’ve been funny watching Linus go through the video with anime eye cover or something.
@@FarrelClement the resolution is awful tho no way you reading small text on that thing also it needs to be hooked up to whatever device you're using it's not really a computer
I hope review compares through the lens footage of photos or video of other VR, Quest 3 and Vision Pro since they don’t share same games etc. but videos and still photos can be compared. No other channel has done it so far 👏
I'll still stand by it. The Apple Vision Pro's software can be compared to the quest, but the hardware needs to be compared to the Varjo XR4. There are more pixels in the XR4 anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What if you just outsource the computer unit into a little device like the battery pack and connect it to the goggles itself? or have the computer unit and the battery pack in one, reduces the weight and size of the goggles dramatically.. would love that :)
The shipping delays started shortly after orders went live due to "demand" or short supply, so that's maybe why they didn't have one right away. And It's not in store in Canada yet. It also takes time to get all the info and write the video, film, edit, etc.
When you do screen sharing, it supposedly ends the foveated rendering and it brings down your framerate as a result, getting a bit choppy. It's smoother when you turn screen sharing off and it is allowed to render as intended.
So far I feel like it's worth it to me, as someone that can spend up to 12 hours a day at a computer for work/side projects/gaming. I am able to do everything I usually do from anywhere, with more comfort, and better. As a bonus, I actually feel like the headset is easier on my eyes due to the optics. It's also the only headset that I've been able to forget that I'm wearing. It's like a slightly uncomfortable hat, which is easy to forget if you're busy. *Sent from the toilet with the Vision Pro*
It's actually far, far worse on your eyes if you wear this for several hours a day. Since it will keep the focus distance constant the muscles in your eyes responsible for focussing will degrade even more than with regular screens (where you can change the focus distance by looking out the window for a few seconds)
hes completely out of touch and everyone has been calling him out on it ever since he completely turned over to the "dark side" and decided he no longer wanted to make good content but rather earn a lot of money. he doesn't know what a fair price for anything would be nowadays. guy is high on cracc coccc caine
Something I would like you to actually do in these is test the headset in a much darker room. Most people don't have studio lighting, which can significantly affect gesture controls and hand tracking.
Linus, can you construct a custom head device for the AVP? Something that puts the load on the crown of the head. Also, it should have the ability to flip the AVP up and down as well as make adjustments that push the AVP closer and father away so that the seal barely touches.
I'm partially agree with the price point. Do I think it is overpriced? Yes. But knowing how much R&D they spent on making the product, the price is understandable. I mostly dislike apple products because they are always over exaggerated their advertisement and their overpriced nearly the same products every year, but I have to admit their R&D is superb. And I have to say, the final result of the apple vision pro looks awesome.
The Vision Pro is going to be amazing for POV filming that's ACTUALLY POV and the camera operator actually gets to see what the end product is going to be like. This is going to be amazing for DIY guides that shows tutorial from POV and....other things that are also POV.
Could you please do a side by side comparison of the Apple Vision Pro vs Bigscreen Beyond vs Meta Quest 3? Display quality, comfort, interface, watching movies, playing games, etc? Thanks
RD money spending should not be a factor of laughable pricing, if the item sell well RD is well spent due to lots of buyers of the product , but apple wants upfront money just maybe they want to beat M$ in the top rank company add greed to please investors not costumer mentality
You the first reviewer that was very fair about the 35ppd, which frankly is pretty tame compared for Varjo 3 or Varjo 4. I've been super skeptical about the nut hugging with these reviews so far.
Looks really cool. I look forward to its battery being throttled next year and you being forced to by a new one when whatever it's cooling solution is fails miserably and tell you it can't be fixed when all it needs is proper airflow and a good cleaning.
Actually the only thing that can be fixed right now is the front glass and the headband. For everything else including the speakers the only option is a full replacement of the unit.
4:20 awesome! I hate the environment too! I have thrown away something like 20 usb power bricks and soon I'll get to put some more into landfill because they come with everything, it's a great feeling.
I got a quest 3 recently and was impressed by the pass-through mode (tbf my expectation was not very high because I try not to take very positive or negative things about a product too seriously). The vision pro at least on this video surpass my experience on the quest 3 by far. I'll probably never be using one since I don't know anyone rich enough to just drop money on it and I don't work at a place that would benefit from it. It just make me excited for the future of vr and mr headsets. We really need eye tracking to be default on all headset going foward imo.
Linus : is it expensive? Yes. Is it overpriced? No. A few months later : china analysts say vision pro costs 300$ to be manufactured. Apple : what were you thinking? We are not a tech company. We are a luxury company.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Hebrews 11:6

Love that Linus seems genuinely interested and has seen the ifixit teardown etc as well
Excited to see your full review for the Vision Pro! The specs seem top-notch and the build quality is pure Apple. Curious about your opinion on Mac vs PC after full immersion.
Go watch the wan show, he essentially reviews it in the first part of that. TL;DR; he hates it.

Didn’t realize the video encoding included the spatial audio till I saw Linus watching an HDR video with my Airpods Pro in
i think it also includec some sort of dolby atmos because i felt a very clear seperation too on my quad speaker lenovo tablet.
I was watching the video with a vr headset on and noticed as well
bruh it's just a stereo recording of the spatial audio in effect
Stereo does wonders, lol. There's no spacial audio or dolby atmos coming through youtube. In fact, youtube doesn't support any basic surround audio, as it's all encoded in classic 2.0 stereo.
which is highly annoying! i wonder when youtube is actually going to support dolby atmos. probably never, it's google after all..

i think virtual hands would work much better when fully immersed.
Linus reviews just hit different. They capture the excitement of someone who truly enjoys new tech, without giving off fanboy energy.
I've been waiting for this. I'm curious to see the full review from the perspective of someone not fully immersed in the Apple ecosystem.

Apple makes Linus look like a blurry Daniel Radcliffe.
So like other better headsets that have existed for years?
@@ydid687 like? What standalone headset has the capability of the AVP.
Is it just me, or does Linus's persona look like a Roman emperor?? 🤣
Foveated rendering is definitely a cool trick for performance, but I hope an accessibility option will exist to disable it since people like me who have central vision loss rely on our peripheral vision to see things. I could imagine making that area even blurrier would kill the experience for us.
I don't think it can be disabled because that would just create a performance problem.

the coolest thing for that virtue Mac display is that it is completely wireless, and yet the picture quality is just absolutely insane, wanna see if it works offline.
How Linus is with this headset is the beginning of the peak of the VR age 😂
Even if this obviously has existed, how Linus is in this video is a pre-represent of the real world of how most people would be using this headset and others and already have.
I was laughing pretty much the whole time.
8:23 That's going to be a bit concerning when the avatars get more realistic. You can steal someone's face..
You already can. Live deepfakes exist. Apple has great security so unless you take someone’s physical device you aren’t getting their digital avatar. The voice would still require a live AI adjuster to complete the illusion.
If you have any kind of photo of someone you can already do that, it will get easier and easier though
Yea....that's already something that could be done years ago...
This is just a gimmick. Try it. It's better than ps5 VR i own, but still VERY far from robust 8h/day working device.
The 3D model of Linus in the headset instantly reminded me of Daniel Radcliff esp. in the last HP movie where they use CGI to make him look older.
I just started getting 3D blu rays to watch in VR. My quest pro will do a great job for now until i get a headset with this kind of display. Hopefully from either valve or Samsung.
He should host wan show with it, he'll be able to see merch messages and topics all at the same time😁

14:23
Being able to buy another product isn’t a good reason to have deficiencies in a different product. It’s a fair compromise from Apple’s part, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fair to take off points for it
The speakers aren’t bad solely to sell AirPods.
I’ve used AVP for the past week with and without AirPods Pro and I can say without a doubt that the internal speakers on this are better than the AirPods Pro. Only full over ear headphones like AirPods Max or Sony XM5s would sound better than the internal speakers.

The sales will soar when more people realize the $500 system does a lot of the same. Apple users and developers will still stick with Apple tho
@@smittyvanjagermanjenson182 Serious question. Can you use the Quest with a Mac?
Well, its different kind of devices and different approach. Quests are still mostly for games and adult videos, and apples are for "spacial computing" with window persistence. So its not really a replacement. But i dont mind software update for my quest 2

I can't really see the 3k dollar advantage over the Meta TBH
I’ve heard rumours that the bill of materials for the Vision Pro is around 1.5k. After you factor in manufacturing, shipping, software/R&D, taxes, sales, etc Apple is probably not making a lot of profit on this first generation.
except the GOOGLE GLASS was a BETA product only sold to be tested with

5:15 to be fair, someone already did a drop test of the device, and it's pretty sturdy. the front glass and the speaker arms are the most likely parts to break, but the speaker arms seem to be easily replaced and the front glass is super durable. besides, i think the light seal actually does function as a "lens protector" in a way. it's just... also $200... so it's not very cheap to replace. but it is easily replaced

£3.5k on a vision pro or £3.5k on a new gaming pc…..yer I ordered the pc 👍🏼
I can’t afford it but kind of disappointed that brand doesn’t have some sort of cover for the Vision Pro. It would’ve been funny watching Linus go through the video with anime eye cover or something.

OMG I can't stop laughing. The persona of linus looks almost exactly like my boss except for the crookedness.
Is it just me or Apple's goggles were mainly purchased by reviewers and people who desperately need attention?
I hope review compares through the lens footage of photos or video of other VR, Quest 3 and Vision Pro since they don’t share same games etc. but videos and still photos can be compared. No other channel has done it so far 👏
The persona scan of Linus looks surprisingly accurate. I wonder what the side by side with 1.1. will look like.
What? It looks like a distant cousin.
I'll still stand by it. The Apple Vision Pro's software can be compared to the quest, but the hardware needs to be compared to the Varjo XR4. There are more pixels in the XR4 anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
15:00 poor Linus , his eyes and face are screen burned
What if you just outsource the computer unit into a little device like the battery pack and connect it to the goggles itself? or have the computer unit and the battery pack in one, reduces the weight and size of the goggles dramatically.. would love that :)
I know that Apple doesn't send LTT review samples.... But do they deliberately delay the shipping to them as well?? It came out a week ago!
It’s because they are in Canada, I believe.
That’s false as you can clearly see blurry spots when Linus isn’t looking, so some sort of foveated rendering still happens
I can't get over the idea of being encapsulated in the isolation of the moon, and just hearing Linus' voice off in the distance
Linus looked a little like a poorly AI generated Mr Beast with the face scan avatar.

Something I would like you to actually do in these is test the headset in a much darker room. Most people don't have studio lighting, which can significantly affect gesture controls and hand tracking.
