Google "interframe vs intraframe" and check the first image. Basicly, IPB is is interframe, where 5 out of the 6 frames rely on information of the first frame, meaning less data needs to be restored, but editing with it is a bit harder on your computer (doesn't mean you will "feel" the difference while working with it, but it CAN cause a laggy experiance), because the software can't handle each frame individually. ALL-I is intraframe, which means every frame is "stand alone", which costs more bandwith per second, but it's easier on the editing software/your pc.
A good comparison to look at ipb difference is looking at water (not running so fast it's blurry anyway) drop a rock in a clear glass and film it both ways you'll see a difference.
Great video! With respect to your question about the low-pass filter (AKA anti-aliasing), I think it accounts for a lot of the sharpness similarity between the R6 and the R, despite the 10MP resolution difference. I have a 1DX3 and 1DX2, and the 1DX3 is MUCH sharper because of the new low-pass filter tech. Having said that, I heard somebody from Canon (can't remember who) say that the low-pass filter on the R6 isn't exactly the same as on the 1DX3, but I'd bet that it's a quantum improvement over the R.
@@n0f4ke74 The X2 didn't leave a lot of room for improvement, but the X3 definitely takes the AF with the OVF up a notch. The face tracking is better and I trust all the focus points, so it's easier to frame tighter and have more pixels on target. The smart controller is also helpful. If you switch to live view, the AF is even better, especially because of the wider coverage and eye-AF. However, if you're going to use live view, you might as well go mirrorless with the R6 or R5.
@@n0f4ke74 Live view AF is always better than AF with the OVF because it gathers the data directly from the imaging sensor instead of a separate AF sensor that has to be calibrated with the imaging sensor via autofocus microadjustment (AFMA). The coverage is also much greater, so never any need to focus and recompose.
I guess the resolution point is a harder point for me to take because I come from the standpoint of a fashion and beauty photographer and retoucher. From a retouching standpoint, more resolution does a hell of a lot for me in allowing me to better target things that need to be removed/edited/etc and mess with less of the image overall. For studio environments with strobes especially (which is my primary workspace), differences in resolution can be rather pronounced in my experience just on the strength of the details I can capture with a higher resolution sensor.
There are always people who really do need the extra resolution and it sounds like you’re one of them. I just think A LOT of people are talking themselves into something they do not need
I have noticed that most people that are using the R5 and R6 right now that are experiencing overheating issues don't use the battery grip. I go back and forth with my EOS R with and without the grip. Does anyone think that using the grip might alleviate some of the overheating since the battery area would be somewhat hollowed out and there would be more surface area to dissipate the heat?
Any update on the overheating issue? I’m considering buying the R6, I record usually 4K at 24fps. Some say it doesn’t overheat at 24fps with the new updates, while others such as yourself, say it does. So has there been any changes on that since you recorded this video? Thank you!
It's weird tho, I was thinking about it, and I can't recall a single time they had mentioned canon in any of their videos, it's like canon doesn't exist to ltt, the have had videos with red, sony and even fuji in their channels but not a single word on canon, so I don't think they'll ever do a watercooled canon r5/r6 :(
@@bojangbg It would still be funny tho, imagine if they don't even have to watercool it and they can fix it with some thin copper heatpipes keeingr the weathering canon would get so burned
Hey, the A7III overheats at 4K (basic 4K as it doesn't have anything over cropped 30 fps) and that was kept secret for all these years. In fact, all of the Sonys have overheated in 4K (and they never had 4K 60) for years but it was kept secret. Daniel Schiffer just admitted this issue a couple days ago in fact.
I discovered you from your 5DMKII vs 7D video and your 50mm comparison video. Hard to believe how far the camera world has come since then! Excited for this new direction from Canon for sure!
This is an excellent video! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. As a stills photography camera, the R6 looks awesome. A superb Canon camera with great colors, impressive dual-pixel AF II, IBIS, and an intuitive, responsive touch screen. As a video camera, I feel the R6 is lacking. The overheating issues take you out of your production flow--and that's the opposite of what we want as content creators. I was hoping to switch back to Canon this time; it looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer for something better suited for my needs.
Thanks Tyler; as an R owner thinking of trading my 5D3 for an R6, I really appreciated your picture quality comparison between the R, and R6. EOS R Swipe bar - love it; set up for 0/5/10 times magnification when using my manual focus Zeiss lenses. Sure I use the focus guide, but for some shots you just gotta check. Yeah I swipe accidentally once in a while - but with magnify it's immediately obvious; - no accidentally changed exposure parameters. Look forward to more from you.
Great review! I'm using a 5d4 and this offers so much more that my 5d can't offer, especially on the video side. IBIS for photos and handheld b roll shots seems like a gam changer.
Hi, I'm a photographer first and videographer second...at what video setting will the R6 not overheat? Will I worry about overheating if I shoot in photo mode for a whole day?
@@stalman Thank you!...that's all I need to know. Still deciding whether to get the R6 or R5. I still use my 5D MK II which I bought back in 2008. I had saved enough money through the years to get the R5 or an R6 with a nice RF lens.
I liked the sharpness comparison test (R vs R6) but I would like to ask a question in other way: assuming using the same high quality glass will I notice the difference in detail and sharpness between A3+ prints coming from 30 megapixel 5DmkIV and 20 megapixel eos R6?

The R6 has amazing light rendering and thus colors.
Just want to state that you are incorrect about how the RAW mode is at a disadvantage because it uses regular c-log. You are mixing a few things together and I just wanted to shed some light on it. RAW is just that, RAW data from the sensor. It actually should not even be looked at as "video", because it is NOT video. It becomes video once it is compiled in your NLE, but before that it is pure data from your sensor, often in the form of raw images. You don't gain anything special from shooting RAW while using c-log 1, 2, 3, etc because c-log is a tone curve for video and meant for rec 709 video modes, like 4k all-i/ipb etc on the R6. So, you will see advantages in C-log 2, 3, etc. for video modes, which are the non raw modes. But when you are using RAW 8k video, you are in fact getting the highest quality from the sensor, there is nothing further that will make it "magically" better, such as c-log, etc. It is simply RAW data from the sensor in its purest form, simple as the that - you will get the highest dynamic range, etc. from the sensor when shooting RAW always.
I know what you’re saying, but Canon still regulates which tone curves you’re able to use when interpreting the raw data. So I suspect that there is enough information being captured to generate a beautiful clog3 image, but Canon would need to make it available for the R5 raw files in order to take advantage of that dynamic range potential. I also bet these sensors could handle clog3 in 10-bit modes but that’s just a guess
Literally been saying this for years, I LOVE high mp. But it's not needed, no one NEEDS it, your image could be projected on the side of a sky scraper and you couldn't tell the difference. It's even harder to tell when printed on paper
Does the R6 overheat while recording 4K 24? Cinema5D says that it does and the camera is basically unusable but DPReview says they recorded 4K 24 without any issues for over an hour. Canon also doesn’t list 4K 24 mode as one of the shooting modes that overheats so I’m having trouble understanding the consistency here.
8:38 I dont see any wobble in the corners here and its extremely stable. What settings were used. Was it with ibis on? Was there post stabilization used?
R6 ipb is in h.265 Codec, so even though it's smaller file size it's much higher quality than h.264 ipb from R. All intra for human eye is identical to ipb, however You can see the difference while use green screen or any other type of keying.
Does the Full HD 120fps really have a significant quality drop? Thanks. I want to ask since it's really hard to get some sample FHD 120fps of either the R6 or the 1DX III (which has the same sensor) to actually look upon.
Great video man! As someone who has used the R5 and R6 I’ll take the R5 just because the R6 overheats very fast and it becomes unusable and you’re forced to shoot in 1080P. In my testing the R5 in All-I never once over heated even in very extreme conditions.
That’s soooo crazy! Damn I have to hear more about that. For me, these are stills camera first and video second and i still prefer the R6 for that, but some of the video features on the R5 are really tempting me
Tyler Stalman Yeah I talked to Canon about it and it’s because the R6 is always downsampling from a higher resolution, basically the camera is HQ mode all the time whereas the R5 you have the mode to turn that off or on
That completely makes sense, and super sucks! I tried not to get too far into the overheating issues in this video because I barely had any, so I’m very interested to see other tests come in
hey! thank you very much, fantastic explanation!! I am a EOSR user and i love it except one little thing that no one talks about .... im a theatre photographer and silence is a must, unfortunately EOSR doesn't like some stage light (it gives me black lines on photos, it only happens in silent mode) Did canon fixed that issue on either R5 orR6? thank you
This is an issue with almost every current camera, including the R6, R5 as well as most Nikon and Sony cameras. The only one I’m aware of that can do electronic shutter without light source interference is the Sony a9
Tyler Stalman thank you ... but in general do you think r5 is build with photo in mind or video? I have played around with Sony A9 (photos a great, but the video is a bit on the down side for me...) and I’m still somehow prefer the canon cameras ...
1. Will Canon fix the digital Stabilization weird warping on the edges? Is it even fixable on a firmware update? 2. Gotta say something about the image from the r6 feels a bit flat. Like, subjects don't pop out. Something about the midtones...
Wow! Thank you very much! I just sold my EOSR and preordered EOSR6. At this moment, I haven’t received my R6. And now I am really anxious about my decision of switching from R to R6. Firstly, it is the overheating issue, which everyone is talking about. Secondly, I am a photo guy and I am always concerned about the low resolution of R6. Spending more money on a low resolution camera is really risky for me. But when I see your video, I finally get a clear idea about R6 and its capabilities. I chose the picture of camera2 and indeed I think the picture resolution is better. Happily, I camera1 is the R. Thanks to your video, I think I made the right decision to buy R6. (。・ω・。)ノ
Hey, I was wondering if you are using a gimbal for the vlogging bit at 8:30min in the video. It's just unbelievably stable for vlogging and if that's just the R6 I need to know (also which lens)? Thank you :)
I really want a better sense of how large of prints you could do with the R6. I know it's not black and white, but I want some practical insight. I am also very curious about the difference in dynamic range between R5 and R6. Those would be the biggest factors for me to decide if the R5 is worth the extra money for my use.
@@Qlicky That's what I would assume. Even if the R5 isn't as sharp or doesn't have the same iso low noise, resized down to 20mp should still outperform the R6?
@@StephenDesRoches From my experience, yes. At least in terms of sharpness. Having said that, the higher the MP count the less forgiving the camera is to user error and will expose bad lenses. I think R5 is overpriced for what it is, while the R6 hits the sweet spot performance/cost wise. Im a photographer though, and video stuff doesnt interest me one bit in these cameras. Ive never needed a file larger than 20mp in my entire photography career, especially when it comes from a ff sensor and a good glass.
Lower compression is easier to manage in post, colour correction and compositing. You should be able to push an image further with when grading with lower compression.
How long can you record 4k video on a EOS R before it overheats? 4k overheating IS a big deal. People go gaga over specs, but when it comes to real world video you need a camera with a cooling fan (I.E. a real video camera) if you plan to do long sessions of 4k video - something to really consider.
Great video! I'm glad IBIS works well @ 70mm. Would like to see how well it works for say, 200mm in video mode using a non IS lens. Canon has always been saying lens IS is better than IBIS for long focal lengths. A few comparisons in future videos would be much appreciated!
super excited for the R6, i dont care personally about video performance so the smaller files and better lowlight performance were winner for me! i played around with the R5 demo yesterday and man is it fast focusing even using EF lens.
I'm a 21 year old photographer who wants to invest in good gear now, for my full time job (somewhere under $4000 for camera +2 fast primes and some zoom + lights) it's a tough decision if to save a grand with the R instead of the R6 and then down the line one day I'll get the R5
I have exactly the same problem as you 😂 I doubt between the R and R6 also just for taking stills, the R is a great camera with that 30mp but the R6 has a 1DX III sensor in it and that's Canon's flagship camera... I love fast primes also, I think I'm getting the Tamron 35mm 1.4 via the EF adapter. (wich is sharper than the Sigma)
Do you have a problem with shooting video after using to capture photos for an hour? People complain overheat comes up after an hour if u want to switch to video from photo I think Canon should give a super 35mm/1.5x crop in the future update and hope it doesn't overheat
The people who complained about this, shot 1,100 stills in 1 HR using a 500mm and a 2x converter using Animal AF ! Any camera would heat up after that !
You mention the 120fps being softer on the R6. The 120fps with DPAF was the main reason I wanted the R6. Was disappointed in the 90D's 120 because it was too soft. Carp. Might have to go with the R5 now.
Hey Tyler, great video. In my experience with the 1dx mark iii (which is the same sensor as the r6) I have found the IPB compression really great for daily use, and the only time I noticed artifacting was when filming an interview with a subject that had a black shirt with thin white writing and it created some moire. I didn't find the same issues in all-I compression. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, the r6 looks like a great camera.
While testing it I felt like there must be cases where there compression shows up but it’s just hard to find them. The biggest difference (which I forgot to mention) is how IPB slows down your computer
Tyler Stalman ya overall it’s pretty rare that it happens and the files are super small. For my editing setup, my iMac Pro can’t handle the h.265 codec in all-I or IPB, so I usually just go for IPB since I have to make proxies anyway. Are you editing the h.265 natively? Or proxies?
hello Tyler ! I have the eos R + 24/105F4L Im use it only for photo in amateur mode. Im still think to go in R6 for the IBIS and new sensor ecc , but im not scure for the some bags may have the new one R6. What you advise me ? its a good choise to go , or loose money ( more 1000€) for the changing ! thanks
Amazing review, great points. The only thing I noticed right away when you upscale the resolution of the R6 is that you get that tiny bit of "pixelation". Resolution is the less important thing nowadays. Strongly considering get a 12mp as a main camera for stills now
With regard to overheating, I had a Sony RX100 Mk5 that could overheat before I even got to press record. My workaround was to use stills mode with a 16x9 aspect ratio until I had to start recording when I would switch to movie mode. I wonder if there is a similar workaround for the R6 or is it as easy switch from 1080p to 4k?
So... I watched carefully, and I didn’t understand why I would want this camera over the r. Less pixels, bad gripping, overheat issues, soft 120 (so I will shoot with the 720p and that’s it) and no better bit rate. Except for the stabilization, why would I prefer it over the R?!
10 bit over 8 bit, WAY better controls (this counts for more than it seems on paper), much better autofocus, dual card slots, faster photo performance and virtually the same image quality in stills.
I use the Bar for ISO ... the problem that is most people don't read the manual and they don't know that the LOCK button can ..... yes Lock the Bar and the front adjustment ring on RF lenses so you don't adjust them by mistake. also if you want to adjust and you have forgotten that its locked the work LOCKED comes up on the display . but yes I too would like to have seen the top screen on the R6 I just want to say a big thank you for this video it has made up my mind about pixels , as going from the R like you I was worried about dropping 10 , but also that top screen Dam they make it hard if it wasn't for the price difference
As a former Canon shooter who has been rocking Fujifilm cameras for years now, the touch slider on Canon R has always interested me since the launch of the camera. Was it really so bad/underutilized/inconvenient?
For stills is this is mos def a good buy. For video I still have questions. For IPB vs ALL-I, is there a difference in how easy it is to edit the footage? Especially in something like 4k60 10-bit? The overheating to me is quite a bit of issue because there still seems to be so many unknowns of when it actually will pop up. And that’s even with the documents Canon has supplied on that because the camera can continue to get hot even when not shooting video or even just shooting photos. Thanks again sharing your experience on the camera. Looking forward to more!

I’ve been using this camera for a couple weeks and you don’t need more than this to be a “professional” photographer. Camera is wild!
did you say A7S3 on menu system response 🙄 so i will be waiting for tomorrow video
That felt like a mistake due to no one having that much experience with it yet
9:44 the 10-bit refers to the color depth, not to be confused with Raw bit-depth that determines dynamic range.
Thank you!
Tyler x Linus Tech Tips collab: We watercooled Canon's R5 & R6 !
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 This is hilarious... They'd make the cam work
It's weird tho, I was thinking about it, and I can't recall a single time they had mentioned canon in any of their videos, it's like canon doesn't exist to ltt, the have had videos with red, sony and even fuji in their channels but not a single word on canon, so I don't think they'll ever do a watercooled canon r5/r6 :(
@@Marcos-ee7nt because Canon became irrelevant
@@bojangbg It would still be funny tho, imagine if they don't even have to watercool it and they can fix it with some thin copper heatpipes keeingr the weathering canon would get so burned
Hey, the A7III overheats at 4K (basic 4K as it doesn't have anything over cropped 30 fps) and that was kept secret for all these years. In fact, all of the Sonys have overheated in 4K (and they never had 4K 60) for years but it was kept secret. Daniel Schiffer just admitted this issue a couple days ago in fact.
R6 supports APS-C mode for 4k60 and this allows to record a bit longer.
Does this mode avaliable for 30/24fps? And if yes, does it help with overheat
Are you shooting with the R6 in all of the shots where you are walking through the rocky area? (Example) 6:21. If so, what lens were you using?
All the gimbal shots are on the R and so are most vlog shots. When they’re sitting at the computer, that’s all R6
0:21 20 frames mechanical shutter? I’m pretty sure that it’s 12 frames in mechanical and 20 in electronic. Am I wrong?
Okay but can we talk about how sweet that walking around in the forrest footage looks?
i like when you said “ she is all kinda of partner to me”. lol
I discovered you from your 5DMKII vs 7D video and your 50mm comparison video. Hard to believe how far the camera world has come since then! Excited for this new direction from Canon for sure!
Wow that was ancient history now! The old 5D and 7D were great at the time but would feel painful to shoot with now
@@stalman you could gift me your old cameras if it's not trouble Tyler 🥺
There have been no overheating issues at all with photos, and in the whole course of shooting this video it didn’t overheat. And 1080 is always safe
Or would you be able to print 24 by 36” prints from images coming out of EOS R6 without using softwares like gigapixel ?
How you get that awesome dynamic range??.. everyone else on RUclips has white skies.
It's just finding decent lighting, nothing special about using the camera
Not to mention the focus capability beeing the new world standard and twice faster fps than the eos R. And ye that IBIS looks fantastic. I am going to get the R6 as soon as it gets to stabilised price (like 2000 instead of 2600+). Also that 20mp gives the best dynamic range we have ever seen on canon which match the sony's DR. OH and finally the great Canon colors are back with the R6 and R5. The eos R and RP are way too creepy for me (greenish and too much of hard blacks for me). The R6 has amazing light rendering and thus colors.
I hope you make a video comparing AF performance using the EF to RF adapter, particularly the EF 24-70 2.8 using Eye AF.
Does it have the AA FIlter? In some websites it says they say it does and in many others they say it doesn't.
Loved the video. I am curious if you are able to dual record video on the R6? Thanks!
Want to know this myself. Plus what the 1080p quality is like.
Does it come with a Tilta fan?
anyone hear or have updates on overheating with the R6? I want to pull the trigger on it but the overheating is concerning
I tried not to get too far into the overheating issues in this video because I barely had any, so I’m very interested to see other tests come in
@@mondobytes Is that something they can fix in post with firmware updates?
@@mondobytes So R5 line skipping will not overheat so is that means it will be not as sharp as HQ?
My question is will either camera over heat if you just take photos. I wasnt sure if that was possible or not.
No, only in 4K video modes
hey! thank you very much, fantastic explanation!!
There is a DNG converter beta! You should try converting from raw to dng. Worked greatly for my R5. :) Hope it helps!
I think the R is the Camera you want for the price...and 1080p looks really great on the R and you can use the 4k crop to get more out of your lens.
The ergonomics on the R6 are a massive upgrade, it really is much better user experience
I'd like to see a sharpness comparison in reverse and resizing the R or R5 down to 20mp.
You can try using the comparison tools on DPReview. There is a slight difference with the R5 at 100%
Bigger image will generally always come out sharper when resized.
@Tyler Stalman
I am planning to buy my first camera for Instagram photos and videos.
Which camera do you suggest?
Gimble for your walking shots including the commercial? Great vid as always.
Yup those are on a gimbal. Most of the hiking shots are R on a Ronin
2020 and we’re still debating megapixels. Kewl.
For prints, 300ppi is the standard. So the r6 isn’t an option for photographers who want to make sharp big prints.
Louis F sure bud. How many big prints have been made with cameras like the D700?
My question is: With near pitch back/ low light photography, will eye-lock on AF on the R6 still work with F2.8/ F4 lenses?
Stalman! Your lighting looks amazing in the studio portion!
Did you use the R6 to film the Squarespace plug walking in the forest? That footage looked so rock solid, gimbal-esque.
Can you change your video settings to c1-c2-c3? Like 4k60p to c1 and 1080p120fps to c2?
The R6 has All-I after the next firmware release (rumored)
Even more importantly... CLOG3 which will raise dynamic range to over 14 stops.
What I love about the Canon is its incomparable menu responsiveness and sensitivity.
How long can you record 4k video on a EOS R before it overheats? 4k overheating IS a big deal. People go gaga over specs, but when it comes to real world video you need a camera with a cooling fan (I.E. a real video camera) if you plan to do long sessions of 4k video - something to really consider.
I’ve never had the R overheat, or any other camera before the R6
Hi can I ask you use which camera to vlog inside the video?
Great video! I'm glad IBIS works well @ 70mm. Would like to see how well it works for say, 200mm in video mode using a non IS lens. Canon has always been saying lens IS is better than IBIS for long focal lengths. A few comparisons in future videos would be much appreciated!
super excited for the R6, i dont care personally about video performance so the smaller files and better lowlight performance were winner for me! i played around with the R5 demo yesterday and man is it fast focusing even using EF lens.
What are your thoughts on the 28-70 f/2 RF lens?? I’m thinking about biting the bullet and buying one.
People complain overheat comes up after an hour if u want to switch to video from photo
I think Canon should give a super 35mm/1.5x crop in the future update and hope it doesn't overheat
The people who complained about this, shot 1,100 stills in 1 HR using a 500mm and a 2x converter using Animal AF ! Any camera would heat up after that !
Are you hand holding while walking ? Or is there a gimbal ?
You mention the 120fps being softer on the R6. The 120fps with DPAF was the main reason I wanted the R6. Was disappointed in the 90D's 120 because it was too soft. Carp. Might have to go with the R5 now.
I never tried it on the 90D, but it’s not crazy sharp on this one
Or proxies?
@@stalman do you know if tilta r5 cooling module will also be supported on r6?
I did it natively for this video
I wouldn’t trust the module on either camera. If you need to use this camera in a way that causes overheating, it’s not the right camera for you
hello Tyler ! I have the eos R + 24/105F4L Im use it only for photo in amateur mode. Im still think to go in R6 for the IBIS and new sensor ecc , but im not scure for the some bags may have the new one R6. What you advise me ? its a good choise to go , or loose money ( more 1000€) for the changing ! thanks
I think to avoid the heating. You can use a cooler with a hole in it for the lens to stick out. Throw some of those blue ice gel in the coolers.
Amazing review, great points. The only thing I noticed right away when you upscale the resolution of the R6 is that you get that tiny bit of "pixelation". Resolution is the less important thing nowadays. Strongly considering get a 12mp as a main camera for stills now
Thats when the A7SIII = Superior release its beast tomorrow.
I use the Bar for ISO ... the problem that is most people don't read the manual and they don't know that the LOCK button can ..... yes Lock the Bar and the front adjustment ring on RF lenses so you don't adjust them by mistake. also if you want to adjust and you have forgotten that its locked the work LOCKED comes up on the display . but yes I too would like to have seen the top screen on the R6
I just want to say a big thank you for this video it has made up my mind about pixels , as going from the R like you I was worried about dropping 10 , but also that top screen Dam they make it hard if it wasn't for the price difference
You test the image quality on JPG file ??? I'm a little confused -.-''
Because when cameras are first released the software to process raw files isnt available yet. It problem for every review

As a former Canon shooter who has been rocking Fujifilm cameras for years now, the touch slider on Canon R has always interested me since the launch of the camera. Was it really so bad/underutilized/inconvenient?
I just NEVER use it. I don’t even have any commands assigned to it
For stills is this is mos def a good buy.
Hi there and thanks for the review! Very useful. Quick question;) At 7:05 when vlogging in the forest, that is the exact look that I am trying to achieve. May I kindly ask you for details, such as Camera, Lens, Gimbal if any? Thanks a lot and best of luck
The way you grade is just on point 👌
Can you tell me what camera holder you are using for your backpack?
R6 actually shoots way sharper 4k 60p than the r5. Watch Tony's video.
It's not 'way' sharper. Noticeable only when pixel peeping. Doesn't matter in real world unless one screw up the framing and stabilization so badly.
@@gamerjack5612 nah dude it's pretty dang sharper.
It also beat A7siii for 4k60
Sharper than the A7SIII as well.
@@gamerjack5612 Yeah, some RUclipsrs pixel peep way too much. Resolution isn't as important for video as it is for photography... but the Sony Hype machine has people believing it is... Gerald Undumb compared the R5 and A7SIII for some odd reason, and in photos he downrezed 45 MP and 12 MP to instagram size. Like wtf? Might as well downrez video comparisons to 8 bit 720p since 99% of videos end up on 8 bit RUclips, highly compressed and watched on tiny smartphone screens.

Got mine recently and been playing with it. My verdict: Amazing photo camera, that has very good 1080p (with the 10bit and 422 and all). But I wouldn't consider it a real 4K camera though due to overheating issues. If you go into it with that perspective, you won't be disappointed. I'm just not sure that we should have to pay this kind of money NOT to get useable 4K in the year 2020. But if photo is your main thing, this camera is suberb!
It seems even "photography" (forget about the videos) on R6 causing overheating. Was super excited about the R6 but now I have some doubts on it. I dont know if this can be fixed in upcoming months by Canon!?!?
Who has said the photography causes overheating? Any way you use the camera will raise the temp and reduce record time in 4k, but I haven’t seen anyone get an overheat warning for stills
