So here's a topical little story I have. During my senior year of high school, there was this guy that I knew and had known for years. I considered him a friend though not a particularly close one. He was also in a few classes that I took and was even on my bus. Anyways, near the beginning of the school year, I noticed that he seemed to be an intimate relationship with three different girls at the same time. As I said we shared some classes and a bus so I was able to overhear some of his conversations and piece together that only one of the girls (whom also shared a biology class with me) was aware that he was seeing different girls. Flash forward a month and it became apparent that the other girls had found out about his misadventures. Incredibly, none of them seemed to particularly care and remained in an intimate relationship with him all while aware he was seeing others (he even apparently went on vacation to New York City during winter holidays with one of them). This continued until graduation. After high school I pretty much lost contact with him. I'm a sophmore in college now and a few months ago I was visiting my old robotics team and found out from people that did keep in contact that he was now in a polygamous relationship with two of the girls with the other having moved. So that's the story of how I encountered a real life harem protagonist. Just goes to show that Yagami and the Persona protagonists managing to woo and date multiple people isn't actually that far from reality I guess.
I appreciate hearing this story - polyamory isn't all that 'mainstream' as an idea yet, but I really prefer a happy ending where 'cheating' isn't as big a deal as it's usually portrayed. Some people really don't find it as big a deal-breaker as others do. Of course, it's better etiquette for all of your partners to know that the others exist before you start dating someone new, but still, the fact that it seemed to work out in the end warms my heart!

You know I would’ve been okay with rejecting Nanami if the reason Yagami gave was that she deserved someone better or more honest or something along those lines, and not just because he “didn’t feel the same way”. Also considering the fact Yukko instigated the whole thing...she’s no better...
This whole thing would have been better if Nanami saw through yukkos bull earlier and showed a level of maturity and expirience then on her own trying to honestly establish a real relationship rather than being tricked and manipulated every step of the way.

In case you have not noticed Nico, this is probably the first time that you have ever beaten a member of the Amon clan without using a weapon. In Yakuza 0, Kiryu's boss was too crazy for you to handle(couldn't even realize that there was a gimmick) and Majima's boss had overpowered stats. In Yakuza Kiwami, you were forced to use weapons because of Jo Amon's ridiculous counter move. On Yakuza Kiwami 2, you used weapons to counter Jo Amon's eternal forcefield (I am not counting the other Amon brothers since they were only really difficult on the missions of that game). Since Judgment forces Yagami to not have an equipment menu and Shin Amon did not have any weapons in his arena, you were forced to fight him bare-handed and had to truly figure out how to fight him especially since he has a move that can SEVERELY limit your healing items and extracts. In the end, this battle turned into a battle of wits as you had to learn which fighting style to use at which time and you had to use your EX boost mode wisely. It is an honestly fitting secret boss battle for a detective. Wait... Since Yagami beat an Amon bare-handed while Kiryu and Majima were forced to resort to weaponry in order to stand a chance against their opponents, does this mean that YAGAMI is the most powerful Yakuza protagonist (at least in one-on-one fights) in the Nico-verse?
Jobro not really, in comparison between health, Yagami seemingly takes more dmg or just has less health than kiryu when fighting regular enemies or bosses. If we take mortal wounds out of the equation, yagami still can get killed very fast if you are not paying attention to even the main story bosses (not just Amon). While kiryu does use weapons, yagami can die so easily in comparison. Maybe more reliant on skill than weaponry, not exactly more powerful.
Well, this Amon member is just the weakest. His two most powerful attacks are making you unable to pause and turning the game into a 5FPS input-dropping clusterfuck.
The Amon also does the same kind of animation when switching between his styles, that yamagi does. When switching to the blue he does the little spin and when switching to red he raises his knee. Thats a nice little detail they included there to hint you at the fights mechanic. What I wonder know is... Where did Amon learn these styles? Wasn't that supposed to be a selftaught style that yagami got from his father and perfected over the years? We don't know anything about Yagamis real father. Is he maybe a decendant from the Amon clan? That would explain why Yagami can absorb the energy that Shin Amon is firing. Very Intriguing!
I think it's easily explainable without mixing side plot and main plot if we take in mind Jo was able to replicate Dragon of Dojima and Mad Dog style ... in Yakuza 0, 1988. Thus I think that Shin just spectated Yagami's fights and replicated his style-switching gimmicks
Yagami comes back to Shin Amon after accidentally winning their fight on easy difficulty: Yagami: "Hey, can we fight again?! I wasn't hard the first time!" Shin: "...WHAT?!"
And in that game he somehow had learned how to grown in size so half-way through the fight he turns into a giant for no good reason (that was a weird game)
Stanley Cole depends, I want him to play it, but he was skeptical about when asked on stream. It’s 50/50 if he decides he wants to play a North Star game.
I hope he plays it on his own time so he can go at whatever pace he likes and just gets to enjoy it. It’s worth experiencing, but it wouldn’t be a high-view LP. I’d like him to do all the Yakuza games in the next few years, but I’d understand if he has to prioritize doing more popular series instead. He has bills to pay.

Edit: *I Mentioned this on your stream but this comment goes into more depth.* *Fun fact:* So the secret boss fight with shin Amon actually has a boss theme that is NOT a remix of fiercest warrior. The theme for shin is “The Last Assassin XIV: Symphony of the Judgement”. Personally, I think this theme is fire in a different way as the goofing music at the start which then shifts to the upbeat and crazy notes represent “hey, this boss looks ea... wait why is his health insanely large and why is he destroying my health?” It is very symbolical. The reason why the Roman number of 14 is there is to represent the 14 years the yakuza series came to be. I also want to correct my comment back in the Kiwami 2 lp, only yakuza ishin, 0, Kiwami 1/2, one spinoff, and 6 has fiercest warrior OG/remix. The other games had different Amon themes, Scarlett scar being one in OG yakuza 1 and remixed to be a different theme for some one else in Kiwami 1. Ishin came after 5 so when it came out, the theme fiercest warrior stuck around ,becoming a favorite in the series. The remasters of 3 to 5 most likely kept all their osts intact and untouchable unlike the Kiwami games so you will see the different Amon songs there that isn’t “fiercest warrior”

I think the lack of intimacy is more of a Japanese thing than a model thing because past games have people kissing and hugging, , but then again, most of it is in cutscenes, but if you remember in Persona 5 there were plenty of situations that called for a hug but didn’t, then there’s scenes in general were long time friends see each other run towards each other, then stop with no hug. Japanese fiction gave me the impression for the longest time that kissing in Japan is reserved for weddings only.

In the Amon fight, you could have broken the shield by doing a wall flip kick while in the style of the opposite color, which was a challenge in itself (he dodges them unless he's close to the wall/in the middle of an attack animation), but would've made the fight a lot easier if you succeeded. I had assumed that you needed to land the wall flip kick at least once to finish him off, but props to you for showing that it was still possible without it.
I've never realized the gimmick of the Amon fight and i was always in Tiger mode during all the fight. But since i was always in tiger mode and also did wall attack (who destroy his shield if you're using the opposite style) i destroyed him rather quick once i realized i could keep my inventory (if i managed to chain Heat Actions until he stop trying to steal my phone.
I actually beat Amon without breaking the shield because I didn’t know the wall jump kick breaks it, which is ironic because I used the wall jump attacks all the time especially the grab because it counters bosses deadly attacks but I did know about using Crane when the arena is blue and Tiger when it’s red cause a friend told me.

It's funny you bring up Ayane from P4G, because if you had picked the other Sun arcana in that game (Yumi from the drama club) and you were or were planning to date any of the other girls you'd get the ultimate guilt trip for rejecting her. Or you could be a dirty cheater. But basically it's a scene where your options are "Be an ass and leave" or "Be an ass and stay".
I feel like Amane fits Yagami the best out of the four because Nanami makes you feel like a piece of shit, Sana's too thirsty, and Tsukino has her weirdass brother. Amane, meanwhile, has a mystery, which fits Yagami to a T.
0:34 - Ya know, I learned more about Hubert from FE3H from that little comic strip than we've seen in all of Nico's LP of it so far! Of course, that's because we've not seen the Black Eagles route yet... But this makes me like Hubert a lot more! He thinks /politically/, asks whether his comrades did anything to /deserve/ to die, or if he can save them somehow, make them indebted to him, pull a P5-level escape for them, while being able to say to Edelgard's face that he followed orders... THIS ONLY MAKES ME MORE HYPED FOR THE OTHER RUNS, if Nico decides to do them... He's already over 100 hours in, if he DOES do it, it could be longer than P5 was!
Something that's unfortunate that Nico never did but I got to see in the confession scenes is that each girl had a very specific gift that if you give them, they would wear it. So for Tsukino she wears the White Pearl Earrings even in the cutscene.
I think rejecting Nanami was worth it just to see Yagami get sucker punched like that lol Seriously preferred Nanami's friend more over Nanami after that scene lol

It's unfortunate you didn't figure it out but you can break his shield with the a running wall attack, but great job figuring out how the fight worked.
The gimmick of the Amon fight was suppose to involve you changing stance when Amon changes stances when energy projectiles are launching at you they would heal you if you and Amon switch to matching stances. Oh never mind, Nico figured it out on his own, the only lets player I can think of that can do that on heir own.
OH MY GOD!!! I can't believe you managed to cheese that boss fight. So Nico, what was happening in that boss fight was you were suppose to match your fighting style with whatever fighting style Amon was using. The reason you weren't taking damage at certain points was because you were using tiger style when Amon was using his red fighting style. You were supposed to switch to crane style whenever he switched to his blue fighting style and that's why you were taking massive damage at certain points in the fight. This fight took me hours to beat and yet your powers of bullshit somehow allowed you to beat this boss despite not knowing what to do. I clearly underestimated the powers of bullshit.
I don't think you watched the end of the video. He realized that he accidentally changed the difficulty, so he did the fight again and Nico realized Amon's style mechanics.
Oh... Sorry I was so excited when he won the first time that I paused the video, but now I see that he redid the fight. I didn't even notice the game switched him to easy mode, I hate it when games do that by making it a quick pop up when you're mashing the retry button.
Amon's whole "Your reign probably won't last a year!" jab is probably in reference to Yakuza 7, as it's set a year after Judgment, meaning that Ichiban is more than likely going to be fighting an Amon to become the next King of Kamurocho.

Yeeeeah, it'd be nice of there were more physical contacts between you and your love interest by the end. I mean the closest one you had was Nanami (ironically enough) who hugged you out of her stress and fear after being kidnapped by her stalker. But knowing the writers of this game they still ended up imposing their social decorum (a bit like FE3H, obnoxiously enough) by having them reduce intimancies in the format of addressing each other casually on a first name basis. Ugh, which personally sounds more like what you'd do after a good job interview rather than a romantic relationship. I mean I get the whole physical contact not being a culturally comfortable format in Japan, but if you can get Kiryu and Kaoru making out hard on a building as they faced imminent death, you could afford a freakin hug for judgment, people.

In case you have not noticed Nico, this is probably the first time that you have ever beaten a member of the Amon clan without using a weapon. In Yakuza 0, Kiryu's boss was too crazy for you to handle(couldn't even realize that there was a gimmick) and Majima's boss had overpowered stats. In Yakuza Kiwami, you were forced to use weapons because of Jo Amon's ridiculous counter move. On Yakuza Kiwami 2, you used weapons to counter Jo Amon's eternal forcefield (I am not counting the other Amon brothers since they were only really difficult on the missions of that game). Since Judgment forces Yagami to not have an equipment menu and Shin Amon did not have any weapons in his arena, you were forced to fight him bare-handed and had to truly figure out how to fight him especially since he has a move that can SEVERELY limit your healing items and extracts. In the end, this battle turned into a battle of wits as you had to learn which fighting style to use at which time and you had to use your EX boost mode wisely. It is an honestly fitting secret boss battle for a detective.
Wait... Since Yagami beat an Amon bare-handed while Kiryu and Majima were forced to resort to weaponry in order to stand a chance against their opponents, does this mean that YAGAMI is the most powerful Yakuza protagonist (at least in one-on-one fights) in the Nico-verse?
Jobro not really, in comparison between health, Yagami seemingly takes more dmg or just has less health than kiryu when fighting regular enemies or bosses. If we take mortal wounds out of the equation, yagami still can get killed very fast if you are not paying attention to even the main story bosses (not just Amon). While kiryu does use weapons, yagami can die so easily in comparison. Maybe more reliant on skill than weaponry, not exactly more powerful.
I don't think Shin is as strong as Jo. The latter's just absolutely busted when you compare their sheer power.
Well, this Amon member is just the weakest. His two most powerful attacks are making you unable to pause and turning the game into a 5FPS input-dropping clusterfuck.

The Amon also does the same kind of animation when switching between his styles, that yamagi does. When switching to the blue he does the little spin and when switching to red he raises his knee. Thats a nice little detail they included there to hint you at the fights mechanic. What I wonder know is... Where did Amon learn these styles? Wasn't that supposed to be a selftaught style that yagami got from his father and perfected over the years? We don't know anything about Yagamis real father. Is he maybe a decendant from the Amon clan? That would explain why Yagami can absorb the energy that Shin Amon is firing. Very Intriguing!
I think it's easily explainable without mixing side plot and main plot if we take in mind Jo was able to replicate Dragon of Dojima and Mad Dog style ... in Yakuza 0, 1988.
Thus I think that Shin just spectated Yagami's fights and replicated his style-switching gimmicks
Yagami comes back to Shin Amon after accidentally winning their fight on easy difficulty:

*Fun fact:* So the secret boss fight with shin Amon actually has a boss theme that is NOT a remix of fiercest warrior. The theme for shin is “The Last Assassin XIV: Symphony of the Judgement”. Personally, I think this theme is fire in a different way as the goofing music at the start which then shifts to the upbeat and crazy notes represent “hey, this boss looks ea... wait why is his health insanely large and why is he destroying my health?” It is very symbolical. The reason why the Roman number of 14 is there is to represent the 14 years the yakuza series came to be.
I also want to correct my comment back in the Kiwami 2 lp, only yakuza ishin, 0, Kiwami 1/2, one spinoff, and 6 has fiercest warrior OG/remix. The other games had different Amon themes, Scarlett scar being one in OG yakuza 1 and remixed to be a different theme for some one else in Kiwami 1. Ishin came after 5 so when it came out, the theme fiercest warrior stuck around ,becoming a favorite in the series.
The remasters of 3 to 5 most likely kept all their osts intact and untouchable unlike the Kiwami games so you will see the different Amon songs there that isn’t “fiercest warrior”

I think the lack of intimacy is more of a Japanese thing than a model thing because past games have people kissing and hugging, , but then again, most of it is in cutscenes, but if you remember in Persona 5 there were plenty of situations that called for a hug but didn’t, then there’s scenes in general were long time friends see each other run towards each other, then stop with no hug. Japanese fiction gave me the impression for the longest time that kissing in Japan is reserved for weddings only.

In the Amon fight, you could have broken the shield by doing a wall flip kick while in the style of the opposite color, which was a challenge in itself (he dodges them unless he's close to the wall/in the middle of an attack animation), but would've made the fight a lot easier if you succeeded. I had assumed that you needed to land the wall flip kick at least once to finish him off, but props to you for showing that it was still possible without it.
I will say my respect for Yukko shot up with that "Forgive you? How about /fuck/ you!" and punch.
I've never realized the gimmick of the Amon fight and i was always in Tiger mode during all the fight. But since i was always in tiger mode and also did wall attack (who destroy his shield if you're using the opposite style) i destroyed him rather quick once i realized i could keep my inventory (if i managed to chain Heat Actions until he stop trying to steal my phone.
I actually beat Amon without breaking the shield because I didn’t know the wall jump kick breaks it, which is ironic because I used the wall jump attacks all the time especially the grab because it counters bosses deadly attacks but I did know about using Crane when the arena is blue and Tiger when it’s red cause a friend told me.
As for me Mafuyu is the true waifu for me in Judgment. Madoka is pretty good too but don't wanna dog Yosuke.

I feel like Amane fits Yagami the best out of the four because Nanami makes you feel like a piece of shit, Sana's too thirsty, and Tsukino has her weirdass brother. Amane, meanwhile, has a mystery, which fits Yagami to a T.
0:34 - Ya know, I learned more about Hubert from FE3H from that little comic strip than we've seen in all of Nico's LP of it so far! Of course, that's because we've not seen the Black Eagles route yet... But this makes me like Hubert a lot more! He thinks /politically/, asks whether his comrades did anything to /deserve/ to die, or if he can save them somehow, make them indebted to him, pull a P5-level escape for them, while being able to say to Edelgard's face that he followed orders... THIS ONLY MAKES ME MORE HYPED FOR THE OTHER RUNS, if Nico decides to do them... He's already over 100 hours in, if he DOES do it, it could be longer than P5 was!

Something that's unfortunate that Nico never did but I got to see in the confession scenes is that each girl had a very specific gift that if you give them, they would wear it. So for Tsukino she wears the White Pearl Earrings even in the cutscene.

OH MY GOD!!! I can't believe you managed to cheese that boss fight. So Nico, what was happening in that boss fight was you were suppose to match your fighting style with whatever fighting style Amon was using. The reason you weren't taking damage at certain points was because you were using tiger style when Amon was using his red fighting style. You were supposed to switch to crane style whenever he switched to his blue fighting style and that's why you were taking massive damage at certain points in the fight. This fight took me hours to beat and yet your powers of bullshit somehow allowed you to beat this boss despite not knowing what to do. I clearly underestimated the powers of bullshit.
I don't think you watched the end of the video. He realized that he accidentally changed the difficulty, so he did the fight again and Nico realized Amon's style mechanics.
Oh... Sorry I was so excited when he won the first time that I paused the video, but now I see that he redid the fight. I didn't even notice the game switched him to easy mode, I hate it when games do that by making it a quick pop up when you're mashing the retry button.

Amon's whole "Your reign probably won't last a year!" jab is probably in reference to Yakuza 7, as it's set a year after Judgment, meaning that Ichiban is more than likely going to be fighting an Amon to become the next King of Kamurocho.
