I used to think the healing was bullshit. Then I learned from videos the art of constant dodging, switching up heat actions, and making sure not to stay on the ground too long. From my experience, he only restores health when he pummels you on the ground or if you lay on the ground for too long (which causes him to do the taunt). Overall, I really liked this fight. Lots of bullshit, but once you know how to deal with him it feels very fun (especially since his gimmick is using the OP extracts that you had in the first Judgment game)

1:23:18 "it takes so long to get up"
Use the skill to get up then (pressing triangle on the ground, sometimes holding L2 to not trigger a heat action).
You have a skill like that to both crane and tiger, and if you're in snake you can press the down D-pad to get up while changing to crane.
Everytime you find yourself in an annoying situation, check your skills and see if you're forgetting something useful.
Like you did with the stun status effect, where you checked your items and saw something to reduce it.

The reason they pulled back so much of the detective gameplay this game is due to all the complaints in the original Judgement that people thought it felt intrusive. So they're like afraid to put too much of a focus on the detective gameplay

*Important Notes:* The finale is _very long_ so I actually recommend for you **to stop IMMEDIATELY after the Ehara appeal trial for next ep** because the next story beat after will be LONG. Save right after the trial and do the rest in another episode because we are *NOT kidding that the finale is **_this_** long.*
*My thoughts on Yakuza Open World possibilities:* I heavily disagree with that open world take. *If the yakuza series were to go that path of being like GTA, it would lose A LOT of its charm.* I’m open to it if the devs decide that, however *I do not believe it is something that resonates with appeal of yakuza games.* If the devs did go down this path, then I wouldn’t think it would of gotten this popular. *I don’t agree that a core mechanic of a series should be removed for the sake of a less detailed open world like GTA.* It would just make the world more boring up close and I didn’t come here to just have a barebones city/cities. *I believe identity is **_far_** more important than copying another game’s success.*
*About the amon fight: I personally beat this amon first try on Hard difficulty (after taking too long in fighting legit so I spammed extracts for the rest of the fight.)* I destroyed him so fast and went back in legend mode to kill him again. Savage slam destroys any chance he has to defend/heal himself _since it only matters if you can stop him momentarily and gauge your style buffs._ The damage has to be managed by constantly being on the evasive as the dmg of the extract goes back to normal after a bit of time and *the fact he only heals himself if **_you get hit by an extract move or his skateboard._* Spamming multiple savage slam/warrior’s onslaught extracts since multiple are needed and only savage slam is easy to make.
*He **_is_** fucking hard while going in full barehanded and no healing items which is possible using snake style in first phase into tiger style 2nd phase (yeah, that took me a LOT tries there but basically you need to learn and memorize the shit out of his moves really hard to non extract you way through him).* You literally have to perfect damage him without him healing himself which means not get hit by an extract attack. In the case with extracts, Savage slam is a goated _unstoppable_ grab that Juzo Amon cannot defend himself from so you can stop his tracks, gain a lot of heat from it, ex boost beat him down with tiger style/boxer style normal combos, and repeat. If you run out of it, making more is a breeze as i could make 20 during the fight. *I did have 5/6 dmg upgrades so brute forcing the 2nd phase was possible.* In all honesty, this amon was so poorly designed to me that he is pretty low on my tier list since he only uses cheap tactics and also not _that hard_ with extracts too.

    • @GamerSapss
      @GamerSapss 2 года назад +8

I keep hearing how people don't like him because he's not hard with extracts, but insane without. I found him to be fairly manageable without those when you figure out his attack pattern, *but* until that point, it was a bit frustrating. Like, I probably spent a good 10-20 tries without extracts and my first win, then it took me 2-3 tries when I tried again after figuring out how he worked and how to avoid the hits. I feel like the extracts are mostly there so that you have an option to take him out without having to figure out how to deal with specific moves/situations

Fun fact about that side quest with you tailing the kid, a fairly common topic for Japanese TV shows, at least in the past, is watching children trying to do an errand on their own for the first time like going to get groceries and watch their reactions. It can range from being really cute, them being scared, or just gives you a heartwarming feeling like watching siblings support eachother. You can probably find clips of that online if you look it up.

I don’t know about the open world thing, tbh. Maybe I’m just sick to death of large scale open worlds, but one of my favourite traits of the RGG games is that all this content is packed into a tight, easy to access space. I don’t have to fast travel everywhere, drive 50 miles and spend 8 years in a waypoint simulator if I don’t want. I’m open to any contention, obviously, but I don’t think I’m ready for that kinda commitment; especially when the main-series future is coming up turn based
Edit:: Shoutout to Amon’s theme, ‘Lineage of Clan’. Not my favourite Amon theme by far, but pretty damn sweet

Interesting few facts about that side quest with Taro-kun as it's actually based on how they treat children in Japanese culture. In fact the show Yagami referenced Kaito watching is a real Japanese reality show called "Old Enough" where we get to see children do these errands like in this side quest.
In Japan, they want to help mature their kids very early, so parents will put their children up to these first errands to help them do things out in the world like adults do. Usually these tend to be very simple things at first, like delivery of one item to another family member or going to get groceries. Kids even as young as two years old can be sent out on these errands in Japan.
All in all, it's much different compared to how we treat children in the West to almost completely avoid more mature things until they are older.

Yeah, I don’t really agree with the whole “open world” idea you pitched. It would take away most of the charm of these games-the thing that makes them special is the small but compact world that’s fun to explore, learn and remember. The over world being a massive GTA-style map is not appealing to me whatsoever. It’s just completely unnecessary, and the game would have much less charm.
Also, I love that side case with Kaito and tailing the child. It’s one of my favourites in the entire series-I just love how stupid it is lol

  • @Christian_Kim

On the topic of an open-world Yakuza game, while I feel like that has a lot of potential, I can also see it being a hindrance to plot points where you need to find someone and you have to check multiple cities like what you had to do with General White in Paper Mario. While it does sound risky to me, it definitely has a lot of potential and I’m sure RGG studios can make it happen if they put their minds to it. It would be a lot of fun exploring multiple cities in Japan and experience all of the different locales!

Fun fact about the first errand thing: Japan, being a place that is known for being pretty low crime and focused on public security (yeah I know that's weird considering the amount of thugs you encounter on the regular and a lot of that has to do with corruption in the justice system and the perception of Yakuza as Robin Hood-like figures but nonetheless...) is generally more okay with the idea of sending extremely young kids out to do errands. In fact, a common practice in Japan is to send extremely young kids...around 4 or so to go out to do errands with the expectation that they'll fail and the mistakes they make will be a teachable moment for the young children. There's actually an entire film genre called "Hajimete" based around young children doing errands with adults secretly filming them and a lot of comedy is based around how the kids screw up in adorable and cute kid-like ways (the nearest equivalent in America would be something like AFV though that's honestly a poor equivalence).

Man Kaito was so sweet in the 'My First Errand' side quest, the quest was so goofy, made me smile :)
Also I'm sure someone else has said this but I'm pretty sure the side quest is a reference to the Japanese TV Show 'Old Enough' which follows little kids out on their first errands!
Its a really sweet show, most of the kids are super enthusiastic about doing their very first errand and take it very seriously ah ha ^^
The kids on the show are as young as 4 years old, I think kids start becoming a bit more independent from a much younger age in Japan versus in the West, lots of children catch the train and things to school on their own from a young age.
But yeh thank you for making another fun video Nico!

Hey Nico, just wanted to say I agree with you about the other smaller clubs not getting to shine during the finale, so I came up with some ideas for each one of them to have their moments in the sun. *Ahem*
*Girls' Bar:* [Yagami receives a call from Emily after he escapes from Honda, warning him that the Keihan gang members have disguised as civilians and waiting to ambush him in the streets; Yagami asks how Emily knows this, and she explains that they got several members of the gang at the bar good and drunk.]
*Casino:* [After Yagami sends out a text to the other students warning them about the Keihan gang, Hayakawa shows up and offers to use her synthesia to identify the gang members and help Yagami get to where Itokura is being. They successfully arrive moments later where Hayakawa uses her synthesia once again to inform Yagami that it is only the one guard and Itokura at the location; she also tells Yagami of Itokura's current emotional state.]
*E-Sports Club:* [Instead of Sakura piloting the robot, it is instead Sanbonmatsu who manages to nail Koga in the groin before swiping his gun and saying "Junin Haiyan Dayo!" He then mentions to Okitegawa that their clubs should have a game night when this is all over as he believes it will help them better control their future robotic creations.]
*Photography Club:* [Instead of the Bakuan Rairyu blinding the Keihan gang members to allow Yagami and Itokura a chance to escape, it is Toribe and Hikawa using the flashes of their cameras to blind the Keihan gang all while saying, "Say Cheese!"]
*Skateboarders:* [After Koga puts out the call for backup, multiple gang members on the other side of the city rush to their cars only to find them covered in graffiti.] "What the hell is this!? We can't drive these!" "Uh, boss, couldn't we just drive them with the windows down?" "You idiot! If we did that the cops would pull us for sure!" [Meanwhile, Shikishima and Chiyoda look at their handiwork with Shikishima tossing an empty spray paint can up and down in his hands before giving Chiyoda a fist bump without looking.]
Meanwhile, Kim fumbles around having missed the call to action put out to all Made in Heaven members. "Um, hey guys, where did everybody go? My phone died and I have no idea what is going on..." Just then, his foot bumps into one of the electric drones left behind by the Robotics club. "Huh, what the heck is this?" He then proceeds to get violently shocked for 60 seconds straight while letting out a blood-curdling scream. "AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!" He then stumbles backward and bumps into Coach Todoroki while he is still beating up Keihan gang members. "Huh, who the F@#& are you!?" He then proceeds to give Kim a taste of the Todoroki Rush before giving him a massive uppercut that sends him flying into the sky; he then plummets back down right of the Keihan gang members about to be assaulted by the Bakuran Rairyu and Mad Angels. As the firework sparks fall and the soundwaves blast Kim stumbles backward and manages to bump into the same electric drone from before. He is violently shocked once again as he screams out, "AH! My ears! My eyes! AAAAAAAAHHHHH! Why is this happening to me!? What did I do to deserve this!?"
Elsewhere, with Yagami and Itokura, "Come on, Itokura, we need to keep moving if we are going to..." Yagami then comes to a stop. "Yagami-san, what's wrong?" "I don't know...but it's as if a great wrong has finally been righted in the universe." "Huh?" "Nevermind, let's keep moving!"
On that day, Kim's story came to a shockingly explosive, ear-piercing end.

Yakuza was NEVER intended to be a GTA style game, it was only the western marketing that made it seem that way.
in Japan the who Yakuza aspect was never meant to be a selling point and was just another plot point mixed in with all the others. a full open world Yakuza game would suck and ruin everything that makes these games great. Yokohama is big enough and Lost Judgment does a poor job using the entirety of the map like Yakuza 7 does.

This Amon fight basically goes, hard if you're trying to do it legit, but if you cheese him with extracts, he goes down easy. You were on the nose about how if you let him heal too much you've basically already lost. Outside of extract cheese, the best way to take him out is just focusing on stacking the crane and tiger hidden arts then finding an opening to hit him with the tiger charge attacks.

So, if this ks the route they are going and Ammon has to basicly Superpower spam to be dificult, then i fear the next entry in jugment (if is decided to be made) the combat system may become a clown with how over the top it will become, forgeting any semblance of actual martial arts or fighting style the serie is renown for.

There's really only one correct answer against Amon in this game - Tiger style charged attacks. They hit like a goddamn truck - you can take him out in like a minute or two with them (if you don't get screwed by his random BS attacks). I also wholeheartedly believe that's the *only* realistic way to beat him in the gauntlet (where you have no extracts and no healing items)

God, I feel like I want to cry at how much I've grown very fond of Yagami as a protagonist of the Yakuza series. 😢
I say this like a million times, but he is SO much like Gintoki in that he's a very complex type of main character with so many layers to him.
While he wants to get to the bottom of the case he's been given and tie every loose end before he closes the book for good, he also is a very compassionate guy who wants to save as many people as he can; be they the victim or the assailant.
This strong sense of justice and sticking to his principles that he'd forged through painful loss and regrets of his weaker self makes Yagami so brilliant to watch that it's hard not to love him.
Also I love how the final chapter's name is basically a quote from Gintoki, too, in which he gave a pearl of wisdom to his comrade/pupil when it seemed like their peaceful lives were heading down a very precarious turning point where they didn't know what would happen next.

An open-world Yakuza-esque game with GTA leanings...huh. How the tables have turned lol 😂
I appreciate the series utilizing the locales so that it becomes an evolving character of its own, mainly Kamurocho and now, Ijincho. I feel going fully into open-world would diminish that effect by having things so spread out, and less cohesive.
There's also the concern that going open world with bigger/more maps would mean bloating the game with mind-numbing traversal over empty terrain and/or copy-pasted lifeless cityscapes. Actually this also increases the chances of some main story quests only existing to pad out the game, breaking the story flow (& which would have been better as optional substories)
As an example, you pointed out the Tatami Room raid redux earlier, which I feel is partly due to RGG "maximizing existing assets" from the prologue case 😅 (Kosuke + the Tatami Room location) and partly trying to tie it into the flow of the main story in a way that would make sense (hence having to fight RK there). That said, I appreciate the Kosuke memes 😂
The main crux of how open-world design idea clashes with the Yakuza formula, IMO is that open-world is going to be primarily exploration-driven narrative, whereas the series has at it's core imo, been about character-driven action-drama with moments of wacky shenanigans thrown in to balance it out.
TL;DR open-world you look for the plot, RGG games, the plot finds you.

So, judging from the intro, I'm guessing that Nico's dream Judgment game would essentially be a Batman: Arkham game with Yakuza-style combat and removing the glider cape so you're moving on foot. (And hopefully keeping the taxi fast-travel)
Come to think of it, has anybody out there actually tried traversing Gotham from one end to the other entirely on foot without just gliding or fast-traveling to their destination? Assuming the taxi fast-travel works identically to the Batwing fast-travel, that's still a LOT of running to get from point A to point B.

By the time I could fight Amon I had the versatility extract that boosts your damage and heals you for a time every time you swap styles. I managed to get him into positions to hit with specific launch combos and with all the style buffs stacking as I juggled him I basically melted him and kept my health high enough to not die. The only thing that made it difficult was all the bullshit stunlocking and nonstop healing he does. But I guess spamming warriors onslaught works too lmfao.

I really enjoyed how different the side-content was in Lost Judgment. Definitely the most feature-complete Yakuza/Judgment game next to Yakuza 5 with how much there is to do in this game. It really helped how they leaned into the wacky and weird after Judgment's more straight-laced side cases, and I'm glad we were able to get to delve into Yagami's past more and learn about him as a character rather than a cool protagonist.
I really hope they have a sequel to Lost Judgment planned out because Yagami's street smarts prove him to be an excellent foil to Ichiban Kasuga's zaniness. Plus, it helps RGG try different things with both franchises, and continue to iterate on the Yakuza universe while giving both protagonists ample time to breathe. Excited to see the LP reach it's conclusion, been a long time coming!

Elden Ring is my favorite open world because it doesn't have a massive quest log and thousands of question marks on the map. I think Yakuza already goes a bit overboard with completion points and tedious quest requirements. If it was even bigger, it would lose both its charm and be packed with even more of the filler you said you've gotten a bit tired of in these games.

I honestly feel more rewarding beating Juzo than Shin, I don't like the idea of extracts in the game so I refuse to use it
