Well I certainly didn't intend to spend all of Christmas Eve - and a little of Christmas morning - trying to push this commentary through RUclips's copyright, but nevertheless after about 30 attempts it is _finally_ ready for you to view. (Also, as some of you may have seen, this was supposed to come out yesterday so let's pretend anytime we talk about this video releasing on Christmas Eve we meant Christmas Day). And with that, I'll be signing off for the year. I may still upload some form of a highlight reel celebrating the best moments from all the videos in 2023, but beyond that I'm gonna take the rest of December - and probably a good chunk of January - to relax and spend time with friends and family. Thank you all for supporting the channel throughout the year. Whether you found me through the TS4 supercut back in January or anything else along the way, I appreciate you deciding to support me in my endeavors. I've done my best to entertain you both in the form of analysis videos and reactions like this one, and I hope I managed to achieve that on some level. To anyone disappointed at the lobsided amount of commentaries compared to the critiques you likely found this channel through in the first place, I do share that frustration and plan to make it a less disproportionate balance moving into the new year. I've loved recording and editing these commentaries with my friends, but it's also true that over the last few months they've become the only form of content available on the channel as opposed to a form of bonus content meant to be released in the interim between larger projects. I had a lot of plans for extensive critiques after my Dial of Destiny review in July, but with my Owl House video being stuck in copyright purgatory, with my stubborn refusal to move on to anything else until that video is finally released, and with me massively underestimating how much work it would take to edit this final batch of commentaries, I had to postpone all those plans into 2024. The silver lining in that, though, is that there's a _lot_ of awesome stuff on the horizon. With old projects I still need to deliver on, new projects I won't talk about just yet, and with Gugonic being as awesome of an editor as he is and being willing to help lighten my workload, I am feeling exceedingly optimistic - perhaps dangerously so - about my ability to hit the ground running with videos in 2024. I have plenty of plans for both analysis content and audio commentaries and am excited to (hopefully) begin to settle into a somewhat more consistent upload schedule, so I can finally share them all with you. "What a McShame" is literally what I'm gonna use as this movie's quote. I never thought a Home Alone film would make me wanna root for the robbers, but this movie nailed that in many ways. How this "Harry Potter" offwish kid isn't in jail yet is astounding to me. The previous 2 home alone movies were terrible, but I'll watch those any day over this dumpster fire. As a Home Alone 3 fan, that fact some reviewers say that Home Sweet Home Alone is not as bad as 3 is something that really offends me. I can understand some reviewers saying that Home Sweet Home Alone is not as bad 4 or maybe 5. But I’m sorry I’m gonna draw the line at saying it’s better than 3. 3 is a dumb silly movie for children, but the movie is fully aware that it’s a dumb silly movie for children, and just embraces and has fun with it. It also has passion, imagination, it actually thinks about it’s own story, and doesn’t desperately try to recapture the same magic as the first Home Alone and just focuses on doing it’s own thing. Home Sweet Home Alone on the other hand is a soulless pile of corporate shit, with little to no passion or imagination, that desperately trying retread the first movie, with a godawful story that doesn’t know or give a shit about kinda story it’s trying to tell or what it wants to be, it’s painfully cringe and unfunny, and it has this obnoxiously cynical smugness about how it thinks it’s more clever and smart than it actually is with it’s garbage writing.

Have you noticed that John Hughes is somehow credited as one of the guy’s who came up with the story of Home Sweet Home Alone and is also credited as one of the writers of Home Sweet Home Alone? Which doesn’t make any sense since John Hughes had been long dead since 2009, and this movie was released in 2021, and I haven’t found any sources that suggests that John Hughes had anything to do with the development of this movie’s story. Maybe John Hughes was credited as a screenwriter on Home Sweet Home Alone, because the script for Home Sweet Home Alone was probably the script of the first Home Alone that John Hughes already wrote and the other 2 writers decided to just heavily edit and rewrite into a “new original” script for Home Sweet Home Alone. Either that or the writers just wanted to use the name of this long dead person as a scapegoat for their awful storytelling.

Home Alone 4 may have lost me a quarter of the way through, but at least the protagonist wasn’t the villain and the villains weren’t the actual protagonists!
I watched Home Sweet Home Alone back in 2021, long before you guys started making that commentary, because I’m a big Home Alone and I was just curious about this new Home Alone movie since I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about it on the internet. And so I watched the movie completely blind to what the entire story was even about. And going into it I thought it was terrible because it was just a soulless cash grab of a film, I mean it was but the movie went above and beyond that and was even worse then I could have possibly imagined. The moment I realized that the couple were gonna be the burglars of the story it was that moment I realized just how much I was gonna hate this movie. I absolutely despise almost everything about Home Sweet Home Alone and it’s one of my least favorite Christmas movies of all time. Even though I hate Lion King 2019 and Mulan 2020, and they are arguably far worse movies, I think I might personally hate this movie even more than any bottom of the barrel terrible live action Disney that I’ve seen. Home Sweet Home Alone exemplifies almost everything I hate about modern day Disney/Hollywood and also modern day comedies, and features many things that I hate in storytelling Where do I begin with this movie. The writing and storytelling is absolute shit, it’s lazy, scattered brained, contrived as balls, and insulting stupid and has no idea nor does it a single give shit about what the hell story it’s trying to tell and doesn’t make any f***ing sense. It can’t make up it’s own damn mind if it wants to be a deconstruction of Home Alone or just wants to be a typical Home Alone movie. The movie’s storytelling and comedy is offensively awful and insulting to the original Home Alone duology and including 3. All the nostalgia baiting and the movie ripping John Williams beautiful music score from the first movie is shameless and insulting. They credited John Hughes as one of the writers of this movie, which is very questionable since the guy had been long dead since 2009. The kid is an unlikable annoying little bitch with no redeeming qualities. The comedy is absolutely cringeworthy and aggravatingly terrible, whether it’s the dialogue, modern day references, meta humor, or the slapstick comedy. And the worst thing about this movie is them trying to make the burglars sympathetic good guys, while simultaneously having us root for this kid torturing these burglars, and expecting us to laugh at it. F*** off! Making the burglars sympathetic completely destroys what made the comedy from the originals work in the first place. Home Alone is not a movie where you can do both sides the conflict, it’s a comedy, not a drama. How the f*** am I supposed to root this rotten little bitch and laugh at these poor people who just wanna save their financially struggling family! WTF!!! The movie has absolutely no understanding or idea of anything that made original the Home Alone movies such beloved Christmas classics and gets everything about these movies so very wrong that’s it’s no wonder why Chris Columbus the original director of the first 2 Home Alone movies hates this movie. Hopefully in the future this Mc travesty will be forgotten by the general public and be banished into the pits of hell, where it deserves to fade into obscurity, and more people can continue on with just sticking to the original Home Alone duology and maybe even 3. There are so many other things wrong with this movie that I’ve been working on an entire essay since 2021 talking about everything that is wrong with Home Sweet Home Alone. I hate this movie! I hate it so much! I rarely get this angry towards a movie but Home Sweet Home Alone is quite possibly the angriest I remember having felt while watching a movie
What made Kevin work in the first two movies is how he was introduced alongside his family. While Kevin was introduced at the beginning to be complacent and selfish, the first one depicts him to be a product of the environment he grew up in with how the family is also selfish and complacent; arguably more then he is. And the fact that they direct their stress and selfishness towards Kevin makes us sympathize with him more and excuses his outburst at the dinner scene. With Max, however, it's shown that his mom is more accommodating to his requests and is just more organized. So when Max acts selfish and complacent in the film, it comes across less as him being sympathetic with how much he was undermined and ridiculed and more like him acting like a spoiled little shit that you just want to punt into the sun.
Been waiting on this and totally cooking stuff for my Christmas dinner while watching and listening. The commentaries have been a fun ride through the series I when only really cared about the first two when I'd watch them as a kid. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays!

Unconditionally the WORST of ALL of the HA films, I HATED discount Harry Potter the entire time, he doesn’t just TALK and instead resorts to complete violence in the worst way possible, worse than any HA film we’ve seen TO DATE. The dialogue DOES NOT EVEN FEEL LIKE DIALOGUE. Acknowledging they’re making a bad remake, doesn’t stop this from being a bad remake. -10/10. Maybe John Hughes was credited as a screenwriter on Home Sweet Home Alone, because the script for Home Sweet Home Alone was probably the script of the first Home Alone that John Hughes already wrote and the other 2 writers decided to just heavily edit and rewrite into a “new original” script for Home Sweet Home Alone. Either that or the writers just wanted to use the name of this long dead person as a scapegoat for their awful storytelling.

As a Home Alone fan who absolutely despises Home Sweet Home Alone I agree wholeheartedly with everything Trevor has said about Home Sweet Home Alone! I watched Home Sweet Home Alone back in 2021, long before you guys started making that commentary, because I’m a big Home Alone and I was just curious about this new Home Alone movie since I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about it on the internet. And so I watched the movie completely blind to what the entire story was even about. And going into it I thought it was terrible because it was just a soulless cash grab of a film, I mean it was but the movie went above and beyond that and was even worse then I could have possibly imagined. The moment I realized that the couple were gonna be the burglars of the story it was that moment I realized just how much I was gonna hate this movie.
I absolutely despise almost everything about Home Sweet Home Alone and it’s one of my least favorite Christmas movies of all time. Even though I hate Lion King 2019 and Mulan 2020, and they are arguably far worse movies, I think I might personally hate this movie even more than any bottom of the barrel terrible live action Disney that I’ve seen. Home Sweet Home Alone exemplifies almost everything I hate about modern day Disney/Hollywood and also modern day comedies, and features many things that I hate in storytelling
Where do I begin with this movie. The writing and storytelling is absolute shit, it’s lazy, scattered brained, contrived as balls, and insulting stupid and has no idea nor does it a single give shit about what the hell story it’s trying to tell and doesn’t make any f***ing sense. It can’t make up it’s own damn mind if it wants to be a deconstruction of Home Alone or just wants to be a typical Home Alone movie. The movie’s storytelling and comedy is offensively awful and insulting to the original Home Alone duology and including 3. All the nostalgia baiting and the movie ripping John Williams beautiful music score from the first movie is shameless and insulting. They credited John Hughes as one of the writers of this movie, which is very questionable since the guy had been long dead since 2009. The kid is an unlikable annoying little bitch with no redeeming qualities. The comedy is absolutely cringeworthy and aggravatingly terrible, whether it’s the dialogue, modern day references, meta humor, or the slapstick comedy.
And the worst thing about this movie is them trying to make the burglars sympathetic good guys, while simultaneously having us root for this kid torturing these burglars, and expecting us to laugh at it. F*** off! Making the burglars sympathetic completely destroys what made the comedy from the originals work in the first place. Home Alone is not a movie where you can do both sides the conflict, it’s a comedy, not a drama. How the f*** am I supposed to root this rotten little bitch and laugh at these poor people who just wanna save their financially struggling family! WTF!!!
The movie has absolutely no understanding or idea of anything that made original the Home Alone movies such beloved Christmas classics and gets everything about these movies so very wrong that’s it’s no wonder why Chris Columbus the original director of the first 2 Home Alone movies hates this movie. Hopefully in the future this Mc travesty will be forgotten by the general public and be banished into the pits of hell, where it deserves to fade into obscurity, and more people can continue on with just sticking to the original Home Alone duology and maybe even 3. There are so many other things wrong with this movie that I’ve been working on an entire essay since 2021 talking about everything that is wrong with Home Sweet Home Alone. I hate this movie! I hate it so much! I rarely get this angry towards a movie but Home Sweet Home Alone is quite possibly the angriest I remember having felt while watching a movie
What made Kevin work in the first two movies is how he was introduced alongside his family. While Kevin was introduced at the beginning to be complacent and selfish, the first one depicts him to be a product of the environment he grew up in with how the family is also selfish and complacent; arguably more then he is. And the fact that they direct their stress and selfishness towards Kevin makes us sympathize with him more and excuses his outburst at the dinner scene. With Max, however, it's shown that his mom is more accommodating to his requests and is just more organized. So when Max acts selfish and complacent in the film, it comes across less as him being sympathetic with how much he was undermined and ridiculed and more like him acting like a spoiled little shit that you just want to punt into the sun.
Been waiting on this and totally cooking stuff for my Christmas dinner while watching and listening. The commentaries have been a fun ride through the series I when only really cared about the first two when I'd watch them as a kid. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays!

Unconditionally the WORST of ALL of the HA films, I HATED discount Harry Potter the entire time, he doesn’t just TALK and instead resorts to complete violence in the worst way possible, worse than any HA film we’ve seen TO DATE. The dialogue DOES NOT EVEN FEEL LIKE DIALOGUE. Acknowledging they’re making a bad remake, doesn’t stop this from being a bad remake. -10/10. The traps were 100% written by someone with a torture fetish. It’s RIDICULOUS. F. How the hell do people sit in meetings and say shit like this is a good idea EVER?! It’s so…UGH.

Idk why does this but they think that dumbing smart characters down for one scene only to make them witty and smart in the next is the funniest thing on the planet, and it was something i hated even back when i was a kid (the intended demographic) because of how overused and lazy it was.
