I myself don't play games but this was really interesting and got me a bit interested in looking more into solo games (I really don't have friends and I live alone so the options are limited). I have played some kid's games with my family when I was younger like Labyrinth and I can remember that I won pretty much every time. Edit. and I have a faint memory from my childhood about throwing little pigs. Greetings from Finland!

Pandemic can be played solo, you just play all the parts yourself against the game. Pretty interesting.

I love your sewing videos as well as these tea times/tour videos. So cozy! Speaking of will you consider doing vlogmas this year like you used to do? (I rewatch the old ones so many times throughout the year. So cozy, comforting and it reminds me of home!❤)
2 of my favorite games are ticket to ride and mystery express(3 players and up but very fun. A more complex version of Clue). Another great card game is Fluxx(rules always change, not boring at all and easy to play) 😁

I'm here with more recommendations 😁 I think Robert would really enjoy Terraforming Mars (my personal favorite), and for you I would recommend Kwakzalvers van Kakelenburg (or Quacks of Quedlinburg in English) which is really fun to play with friends. Not co-op, but you can't mess up other people's game

This was so fun! It sounds like we may have similar game preferences - I really don't like games like Catan where you can tell when you're losing the whole game hah. I think my favorites are 7 Wonders, Carcassonne, and Seven Dragons - easy to learn and unpredictable!

Some of my family favourites are:
    Carcassonne (big box edition)
    Survive: Escape from Atlantis
Tsuro or Tsuro of the Sea
    Love letters
    Patchwork
    Camel Cup (or Camel Up)
    Ticket to ride - Europe
    Concordia - Venus
    Coup
    Blockus - Trigon
    Asul
    Letters to Mr Darcy
    and Sabotuer
Tokiado and Photosynthesis are the next 2 games on our list to get 💜💜💜

Have you ever played Hanabi? It's a cooperative card game in which only the other players can see the cards you are holding. It's a bit intense for me, but you seem to enjoy a higher intensity level than I do! I definitely plan to re-watch this when I'm not chopping vege so that I can take notes about good games.

Really enjoying the comments here too, lots of inspo for games to look into! I prefer coop as well, my husband and I love playing Spirit Island together - you each play a nature spirit trying to protect your lovely island and its native people from the invaders trying to settle there. Great replay value too!

I love this!!! I adore board games, I play them online a lot with my international friends. It's such a good way to hang out with people who live far away!! One of my absolute favourites is Wingspan, which from what it sounds like you might also enjoy! It's on the longer side, but it's very non-competitive. It's a deck building game where everyone is just doing their own thing, so it's very chill and friendly and the art is stunning!

I am a part of the venn diagram of people who love vintage clothes but also board games, so I loved seeing you made this video! I've been on the lookout for quicker simple games, so I definitely took some notes. If I had to make a recommendation, it would be 7 wonders duel (2 player, competitive but very quick). Our favorite with friends is Viticulture: sometimes the mechanics can feel slow, but we have fun drinking wine and eating grapes and cheese while we "make" wine. On my list to try other than what you mentioned is Creature Comforts, and Quacks of Quedlinburg. I only played Wingspan once a few years back, but that's also a beautiful game but I haven't gotten a chance to again - you might like it. Cheers!

@Loepsie You might know this already BUT the history of monopoly is actually really interesting and cool! From Wikipedia:
"Monopoly is derived from The Landlord's Game, created by Lizzie Magie in the United States in 1903 as a way to demonstrate that an economy that rewards individuals is better than one where monopolies hold all the wealth[1] and to promote the economic theories of Henry George-in particular, his ideas about taxation.[5] The Landlord's Game originally had two sets."

This was so fun to watch, thank you! I'm also a big boardgame fan and love some recommendations 😊
I've been playing "betrayal at house on the hill" a lot with my friends, it's a cool game whwre you explore a haunted house, try to find helpful items & rooms, level up your stats etc until at some point a haunt gets triggered and (usually) one of the players turns evil and tries to kill the others. There's 50 different scenarios so it doesn't get boring very fast, there's also scenarios with hidden traitors etc and from what you've told you might enjoy it as well! :)

I honestly didn't think I'd watch this vid, but on a calm morning with some coffee I sat down for it, and it was so enjoyable. I usually don't like playing games because of the same reasons you mentioned. Then, also, I am currently single and living alone. THOUGH, I recently had a family weekend, we played so many games that now I miss it! Can you imagine? 😂❤ I also live in the Netherlands so if you ever feel like you need someone to play games with that no-one else will... just idk leave a response ? Loved this little tea time game chat!

Maybe something you would end up enjoying is “Destinies” - it’s a really cool App based game where everyone has two secret objectives and has to fulfill either one of them. You explore the area, talk to people, collect items and try to win first. But the game changes with your decisions, like if your character decides to steal coins from a dead person, you might have negative consequences later in the game when you enter the church etc.

My partner and his friend group have played Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering for years. The games are some of the glue that has held the friend group together so strongly since they were in high school and it's fascinating to watch them play. When we pull out games for the non-D&D/Magic nights, our go-to games are Werewolf and Betrayal At House On The Hill. They're games that work best with large groups (6-10+ people), but the really fun part is they're replayable many times by the mechanics of the games themselves.

So glad we finally got the board game tour video!! If you like the DND-style, co-op, spooky games then I'd recommend Mansions of Madness--it can be a long game, but the stories are fun and the replay value is pretty high because there's a bunch of different stories to play.
For a quick, fun, low-stakes group game, I'd recommend Sushi Go! It's a very quick deck-bulding/passing game, similar to 7 Wonders, but simpler and with super cute art! Definitely best with at least 3 players, but more is better.
If you'd like a quiet, cute, sewing-related game to play on your own, I'm really into Calico right now. You lay tiles to make a quilt and you have to make patterns that attract different cats. You get points for completing patterns and earning cats, and it can be a 1-player game, or up to 4. There's a lot of different versions of the rules to make it as simple or complex as you want, and it's pretty chill; you can't mess wirh people except by picking a quilt tile they wanted.

I absolutely LOVE this video Lucy! My hubby and I have been together for 10 years and I have a really similar playing style and board game preference to you, where as I found that it sounds like our husbands play games very similarly too. My hubby is really into Terraforming Mars but I refuse to play it cuz it’s also a campaign game I believe and it can go for a long long time (hours). I’m feeling very inspired to go dust our board game collection and now I have some holiday gift ideas for my husband! Thanks Lucy! Also LOVE the storage shelves.

So funny to see your game collection! We seem to have most of them too! Will definetely look into the ones missing in our collection.
My personal favourite for a 2player gane is "schotten totten 2" (dont know the english title). Its competitive, it's rather fast, simple but with enough complexity for some tactics and the artwork is supercute!
One of my favourites for mid size groups is "Scout", a cardgame where you try to present the greatest circus show. Simple rules but I find it fast and exciting.
And if you love RPGs, Dungeon Fighter is the perfect mix of both worlds and a very fun skill based game! We've had so much fun with this one and I recommend it for the whole family including children.

I wonder if you might find "Flamecraft" fun, it's sort of co-op. You build a city and staff it with cute dragons, gather resources to improve the shops, and if you visit a shop another player is at you give them stuff. It has super cute art too. Highly recommend. It both has a single player mode, as well as up to 6 players (my gaming group is 5 people and we've had a lot of fun with it).

I'm with your husband on Stonemaier Games being the best game publisher out there 😄 that said, you don't have some of my favourites! Viticulture (wine making, has a co-op version although I personally prefer the competitive one), Wingspan (so many pretty birds! I think this works best as a 2-player game), Between Two Cities (have mostly played 2-player as well). Also Scythe is way less war-based than I was expecting!
My tip for games that take forever to set up is to set it up once and then play it throughout the week (assuming you have the space to leave it out for a while) 😄
As for recommendations for games you might enjoy -- The Game (co-op, have to get numbered cards in ascending/descending piles, you can talk but you are not allowed to say any numbers), Deep Sea Adventure (competitive but you have shared resources, super quick and fun, you hunt for treasures from a submarine, air runs out faster than you think! Great party game). I also really like Santorini (super cute, has baby Greek gods, nice strategy game for 2-players, pretty fast, but it is competitive, you try to build and get to the top of the tower before your opponent)

Our collection grows along during the pandemic, and we have more than 100.
We are similar in what kind of games we like. I HATE those where I get screwed (TAKE THAT games).
I wonder what the cabinet you have. It is so nice to save the games hidden. We have a kallax from ikea and I really don't like how it goes with the decorations

So many hours of fun jam packed on those shelfs! I have 2 closets that over flow and risk head injury every time I open them. I am completely on-board with the co-op game love, I get waaay to competitive as well and would much rather being on a team. I love the secretive DM cubby! I really love the EXIT brand exit games. They are made by a German couple and they have such a a good variety to play with all levels of game lovers. Not a co-op game but a good one for travel and playing out at a brewery or coffeehouse is Hive, its a tile game that has a chess vibe with no board. It's a lot of fun and a good bit of strategy but it's quick, so you can't get to wrapped up in the strategy.

Oh, how fun to see what other people like to play! We love boardgames too, and even go to Spiel Essen almost every year to get our hands on some goodies. This year we got the new Ticket to Ride: Legends of the West, which is a legacy game - you might enjoy it!
Over the pandemic our lives changed a fair bit, so we just don't have the time or enough people for playing as we used to, so recently we've turned to roll-and-write games. Our favourites are the simplest - Fency Sheep (Volle Weide), and Harvest Dice. We've also gotten into wallet games, especially Sprawlopolis and its expansions, since they are so simple and compact but bring so much fun.
Personally, I adore games with beautiful illustrations, so my favourites list has games like Calico, Honey Buzz, Petrichor, and Canvas.
If you like co-op dungeon crawling games, you might like Forgotten Depths! It's for 1-3 players, has a very layered gameplay, and has lovely storybook-type illustrations.

It’s cooperative, has so many stories (some good, some okay) and varying lengths of gameplay (just depends on what haunt you get) there are 50 haunts in the base game and in the expansion (widow’s walk) it adds an additional 50, and both are amazing! I think it’s made by the Creators of DnD, or at least it has very similar vibes, and it’s just fantastic, can’t recommend it enough!

Scrabble is probably our most played, othello for 2 person time, and partini for games nights are the most regular ones played here. Bird bingo was hilarious last Christmas preaent especially if you try and add a rule to the game where you need to make the bird sound when you pick up the card. My favorite boardgames: The Castles of Burgundy (first edition) and Eurorails.
The kids play along with Creature Comforts, Wingspan, Museum and Azul. Powerline and Azul are easy to play games, maybe thats something for you.
My husband collects boardgames, he has 157 boardgames (expansion not included). He loves it so much that he demonstrates games for White Goblin Games in his spare time 😅.

Ooh, Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit sounds fun! In terms of board games, I think I lean more towards your husband's style -- long, complex, etc (although another thing that I find suits me well is co-op, too). Favourites are Arkham Horror 2.0; Nemesis (the miniiiiis! the inevitable chaos and betrayal in late-game! you always end up with a memorable story, haha); Paleo. And one of the most insanely adorable games I've ever played is Flamecraft (tiny, artisan dragons that help out various shops in a cute village). I'm also obsessed with D&D.

I think Robbert and I have a similar game preference 😂 I love Tapestry and Scythe obviously. I like Red Rising as well, though I prefer Fantasy Realms to it. I’d love to try Between two castles!! By the way Ticket to Ride just came out with a legacy version this month. Maybe that would be something for you?

Ah so many good games, we own quite a few of the same ones! I'm also not a big fan of too competitive games, so like you my favorites are either co-op or ones where you're mainly doing your own thing. Personally I think Everdell is actually a great game in that second category, but it definitely can be hard to plan your turns out well. So it also took us a play or two to really start liking it.
My fiancé also really loves Stonemaier Games! We only have Wingspan right now (which is one of my absolute favorites!) but we want to buy some of their other games in the future. Scythe was also a little too long and complex for me, but my fiancé loves it! We've also had Sleeping Gods on our list, too bad that the story is not good because it looks like such a beautiful game that we'd really enjoy! We also played Gloomhaven for a bit with some friends, but I didn't enjoy it much either as I found it too repetitive (so instead we're now doing a D&D campaign with these friends, haha).
If you're looking for some recommendations: when it comes to co-ops I really love Paleo and Mysterium, and for more quick snappy games I quite enjoy Railroad Ink and Guillotine (although it does have a small competitive element, but I don't mind it much there). I will definitely look into some of your tips too, they sound like fun! Although we really don't even play close to enough board games to justify buying more😬

Great video Lucie! I don't really like board games haha but there are still some that I've played that I've liked, I was going to recommend exploding kittens but you already have it ahaha! My favorite game is called Cranium, it's sooo fun! I own one that I've forgotten the name of, I'll have to tell you later! Maybe you would also enjoy it.
    Edit: It's called "Concept"!!!!
What do you do with the games you don't really like or hardly ever play? Would you consider donating or getting rid of them somehow? You will have to if you want to make room for new games eventually haha! I'm just curious to see how you would deal with the storage situation when the time comes, which by the look of it, might happen soon enough xD
But i definitely enjoyed this even if i'm not a big board game fan/player myself :)
Maybe do a tea collection update next!!

I loved the video, it was fun! ❤ Our plastic boxes are giving jelalous looks to your beautiful cabinet 😂 I was surprised that with such a collection there weren't many games I recognized. It's difficult for us to buy new games because my husband is very picky about the mechanics he likes and doesn't like, he also gets bored quickly and usually after a couple of plays the game ends up in the box not to be picked up almost ever again, which really frustrates me 😂 He's the worst looser in the world too, so just like you guys we usually play coop, and if there's no coop - we invent it. Are you familiar with Spirit Island? I'm not sure if you'd like the overall mechanics, it's not that easy to get the hang of at first, but it's coop and it's gorgeous, I love it. Our favorite at the moment is Root. And please tell me the secret to enjoying Arkham Horror, I don't think we've been more frustrated with any other game 😂

I don't really play tabletop games. It's very rare. I prefer jigsaw puzzles or billiards. My parents have a table at their home. I have a hard time sitting through the rules to learn them. And then when I do, people don't like to play competitive games against me because I go all in and don't care about the outcome. I love willing and I'm very competitive, but I just don't care whether I win or lose.
