I have a hard time transitioning out clothes for the new season when you can just layer! Like I would potentially wear a summer dress with a sweater and some tights and boots to make it season appropriate. The items I would definitely move out/in would just be to exchange light jackets that won't be warm enough with heavier coats, but I can understand it could differ greatly by the intensity of the weather in each region
That's what I do as well. There are some things like little crop tops and heavy sweaters that move in and out, but the dresses are typically the same. Heck, I even wear fleece lined tights with shorts and tall boots.
These are always so cozy, and this one was even more so because I think we could hear rain in the background. Now I need a cozy rainy day here to do my version of a swap (which is mostly just moving my shorts out of one drawer and replacing them with sweaters)
I love the seasonal wardrobe change! 🍂 It was both fun and reassuring to see you get excited over favorites you’d forgotten about- the same happens to me every time! I have more pieces that stay in my closet for layering, but then I get to play with the new combinations.☺️
We had a week in the low teens and then it shot back up to the twenties, and today it's 13°c in Pennsylvania and I'm crossing my fingers it stays cool if not cold. I won't put away my summer dresses until we have three straight weeks too cold for them, but even then I can't put away everything I'd like to because I work in other people's homes and they are mind bogglingly warm. Still, it does feel like autumn today!
I’m in Pennsylvania too 😊 The temperatures have been such a roller coaster, I’m glad I have blouses and jackets that work well to add or subtract layers to keep up with the changes. Once it gets colder, I’ll add in the turtlenecks!
I actually started doing this due to lack of space! I don't have that many clothes, but the clothes I do wear are quite big/bulky from cotton on linnen, and I only have 2 drawers to work with haha so I gotta fit everything in 2 drawers and a sock box. I love rediscovering all my clothes from previous years!
It is so hot almost everywhere in the world, it´s quite scary :( Autumn is the most beautiful season in my opinion, dont know if I´ll be able to see it this year at this rate
Same! It's still around 30ºC in Spain during the day, a bit chillier in the mornings but not that much. Right now it's 13:00h and it's 25ºC in Barcelona and since there's a lot of humidity here it's even worse. I'm still wearing summer clothes everyday, Autumn is my favorite season as well and we just don't have it anymore :(
I hate this time of the year where you have short sleeved t-shirts and sweaters on the same drawer. I can't wait for autumn to really "arrive" to my city!!
I always find the spring+summer / autumn+winter seasonal wardrobe distinction funny. We have summer / winter / spring+autumn wardrobes where I'm from😁 "In-between" spring+autumn stuff stays at hand year round, since sometimes you need a light waterproof jacket in the summer or winter, despite it being an in-between item.
I love your videos so much!! It feels like a cozy time with a good friend❤ I also moved to the netherlands over a year ago, and I am so happy about your dutch garden transformation. If more dutch people had gardens like this, imagine how much it would increase the biodiversity 😊
A good way to store with the box. Under a bed or a sofa. Or you have a winter cabinet. Keep some of the t shirts yes. Always something I would need during winter. I begin next week. Maybe you need some more space in your drawers, but everything is relative.
Its so cold today in the midwest today, 58F. The issue is i only have one set wardrobe. I use summer clothes in winter, i layer. I guess it helps that i dont have summer looking clothing, no shorts or tanks. I have a lot of black, shirts and layer type wardrobe. Even my dresses are longish and can be worn with sheer long sleeves underneath.
I actually never go though my closet (American) when the seasons change. My closet is also a small walk in, so I can fit so much in there, and I even keep my fabric in there. The weather here is very unpredictable. It was 82℉/27℃ last week. But today is 64℉/18°C. I also live on the 3rd floor in an apartment and it can get really warm even in the winter as the heat from the apartments under me rise up into my apartment.
The weather in Poland is so weird right now, you wake up and don't know if it will be 10°C or 25°C day. And I don't remember any previous October when I could wear short sleeves or openwork cardigan with nothing on top. It starts to get colder, today was one of the 10 degrees days and it finally feels like autumn. But I still don't know if I should put summer clothes away, the weather app shows 23 degrees on Friday. So who knows at this point 😂
@@MistressBella1533 Omg, how do you guys live like this, it's unbearable! Yesterday it was 0°C at night and today it's supposed to be 20 during day. I don't even know what to wear anymore 😂
It is time for me to change to my spring wardrobe, but we still have some cold days and nights at this point, maybe only when November hits I'll be able to swap everything. And this will be a hot hot hot summer down here 😢
Because the background (the black warddrobe) is so dark it seems like your camera is having a hard time keeping up with the contrast between you, the clothes and the background. Maybe cutting out natural light would make the difference a bit softer?
I'm not being rude here I'm just asking so I can understand. 🖤 I grew up poor and I'm still poor in my 30s. Now to my question. Why do people have different clothes for different seasons? Don't get my question wrong! I'm Swedish so I understand warmer winter/ fall/spring clothes such as warmer leggings, coats, hats, scarfs, gloves etc. What I mean is, why don't people use the same dresses, shirts, skirts and other "summer" clothes when it's not summer? If it's cold I just pull on a pair of leggings (thermo leggings if it's really cold), a warmer shirt and so on. I just layer my clothes when it's cold. All my clothes fit in a single wardrobe that's 60 cm wide, 50 cm deep and around 2 meter in length, and that's it. Everything is hung up on hangers, so I don't fold anything other than my underwear and my socks. 😆 Have I been watching too many youtube decluttering videos and my small wardrobe is actually the norm? Or is it just because I grew up poor and _had to_ use layers to stay warm, and it just became a habit for me? This is a sincere question, I'm not trying to be rude or anything. It's something I've been thinking about for a while now and I finally found the courage to ask.😅😁
Didn't sound rude to me at least! Personally, I'm kind of with you. I don't 'cycle' my wardrobe with the season or anything, I just don't have that many clothes and I add and take away layers with the different seasons to make them work whatever the weather? But maybe I have few enough clothes that it doesn't bother me to have a couple of summer dresses hanging around in my wardrobe for six months while it's too cold to wear them. I think a lot of people who have seasonal wardrobes actually just have A LOT more clothes than the average, non-content creator person who isn't particularly into fashion. Just my two cents! Would definitely be interested to hear from 'normal' people who have seasonal wardrobes though!
I once tried to have a more minimal wardrobe but that's not really my thing. I like many different styles so not everything matches. I do layer things too and I still wear some summer stuff in wintet but I also love those thick knitted sweaters and warm knitted dresses. I feel cold pretty quickly. Most of my wardrobe is thrifted/Vinted. And every once in a while I put things on Vinted to sell.
It’s very interesting for me to hear you describe your smaller wardrobe and how it works for you. I have a large-but-thrifted collection and struggle to keep it limited to my available space. For me, I love fabrics and colors (not fashion tho) and playing with layers and combinations. But I also have a lot of sensory issues that make temperature/humidity and comfort a big deal. Both factors contribute to my collecting more than I actually need, because it’s stuck in my mind that I “need” lots of options to feel comfortable - both physically and mentally (self-expression).
I think it has a lot to do with the way summer and winter clothes feel and look. A summer dress is lightweight and has a summer print with summer colours. I usually prefer darker colours with darker fabrics in the winter time. It seems odd to pair a summer colour dress (say like white or pastel floral) with dark tights, which is what I wear to stay warm in the winter. The colours and textures don’t “go” together
How cold does it get in the Netherlands, does it snow ? I just did my switch yesterday! I didn't finish so that's on my list of things to finish today. Perfect timing for this video!
Usually it is just wet, round 0 degrees. Sometimes a little wet snow, few days top. But once in a while it can be colder, few years ago we had a colder winter, -10-15 even, our clematis and passiflora both died even though they were packed in an against the house... But we do have quite some wind, makes it feel colder than it is.
Last winter I could barely call Winter. It was only freezing like 3 weeks at most. Saw 2 or 3 days of snow. While the years before that it was really cold and also lot's of snow. The weather is really unpredictable in the Netherlands. Now it's very soft for the time if year and I wonder if we will get a good winter this time or just like last time.
I’ve never understood how people can put clothes in storage. My wardrobe my be over stuffed, but there is nowhere else for anything to go either. If it doesn’t fit in there, it can’t stay, it doesn’t matter what season it is, Which is a bit of an issue considering I still have and wear clothes from uni in the nineties and never throw anything thing out. I just shove them harder in the cupboard!
Do you have any suggestions for storage or anything? I tried doing a closet swap out once because in Canada the winter clothes take up a LOT of space, but when i opened it up 6 months later it smelled really nusty and it was hard to get the smell out :/ so now my closet just overflows year round
Ahhh, it's finally THIS time of the year again... :D
A fun idea for a sewing project. The wool pants you have… you could make a lining for those….that might be a fun challenge!
I've had wool pants that were partly lined, the lining was only on thighs and I don't think the sides were sewn together
Great idea!!

Same but the other side. We went from summer to winter. It started snowing this week. Skipped autumn altogether.
New England is pretty cold. Not unseasonably so, but definitely cold enough for sweaters and other warmer clothes

It has been a very similar September- October here in Canada - which for us is really unusual too.
That's exactly what the weather is like in New England (northeast United States) during spring and fall 😂😂
