    Rabin was fantastic - but don't forget the genius Wieniawski, who not only wrote but played it 150 years ago!! The man was far ahead of his time, and only lived to 45.

      He was not ahead of his time, we are behind our own time by a very substantial degree. If you think of the music composed over 100 years ago in the 19th century, and compare it to top hits today, you can see it is more due to our degeneration than how avant garde they were

    My former violin teacher, Elizabeth Ivanoff Holborne, studied with Ivan Galamian & knew Michael Rabin. He was among the greatest of all violinists. Unfortunately, as with so many other musicians, drugs were his downfall & what killed him. He fell in his apartment & hit his head on a table. The autopsy revealed that he was under the influence of narcotics, probably Doridan, which was his favorite. I have all of his recordings & have never heard this concerto played any better. Rabin idolized Heifetz, as did Perlman & so many others.

    But I'm a little confused, dose anyone knows why orchestral parts are different?
    Many of them are too longer at the beginning of 1st mov but here solo part starts after a shorter part of tutti !

      Some conductor's find the intro to be excessively long and do that improvised cut. Also happens at 7:00. These are choices done by the conductor, not the publisher.

      No, it's not because of that.They used to cut orchestras parts because back than there wasn't to much recording space on the vinyl.

      @@Mdudapiano I heard live several times Oistrach, Kogan, Szeryng, Francescatti... Unforgettable. They projected more in the concert hall than any violinists nowadays. Oistrach in the recital was unmatched and also, he had two hours of music in his programs, very diversified, playing with great inspiration.

    what a pity that his bow stopped at such a young age. it seems me that it is the best i heard. it is so pathetic that both the composer and the player died young. is something wrong with the jewish ADN of musical genius.

      In Wieniawski's case, excessive use of alcohol may have been part of the reason. The life of a travelling virtuoso was not easy. I believe that he died in poverty.

  • @user-op6vy3gg2b
    @user-op6vy3gg2b Год назад +2

    Wieniawski's mistake. He composed this piece too difficult for most of the violin students. Starting with 10th . Thus not popular.
