I'm 99%+ sure that the Habs wanted Eiserman. Damn that was so close can you imagine both him and Damidov?!?! Still really happy about both picks we got. We finally have THAT player that will lead our offense. Last time we had a 90+ points guy was like what, 20-25 years ago?

That doesn't necessarily mean Eiserman wouldn't have been higher on their board and maybe they just didn't think he'd even be a possibility at 21, but either way, they got the guy they wanted when they moved up. He also said Demidov would've been their pick even if they had the #2 overall, so it really couldn't have worked out any better for them.
Ive heard that Eiserman gave the team a bad feeling about being about to play with MTL because of the fan pressure there is on the players of the Habs. I personnaly dont think they would have skipped him, or at least pick him for the value. I would add that I dont think MTL need a finisher on the offensive, they already are Caufield for that and thats enough

I was hoping, when Eiserman was still around at 18 that Philly would trade up to get him. Flyers need a natural goal scorer BADLY. Yes, his defense is very poor and you wonder how well he would mesh with Torts... but his upside is there, and he's exactly what the Flyers need. BTW, great job going over the 1st round, Shannon.
It’s very interesting how on the American broadcast Connelly had that incident not said. Overall I’m happy with what my Isles did for getting another second with a potential elite goal scorer.
If you watched Guelph Storm games all season you would know why the Flyers picked Jett Luchanko. Solid, dependable player definite asset to the Flyers organization
I think Flyers did okay with Luchanko. They obviously tried to trade up for Demidov but couldn’t get it done, and then almost had Dickinson fall to them, so then they settled for a fast two-way center with upside. Buium and Eiserman were the splashy options but I’ll give Briere the benefit of the doubt
As a Habs fan, I was worried about Columbus trading #4 to a team that wanted Demidov. Luckily their guy (Lindstrom) was still on the board, otherwise it seems like they would have traded down, which might have prompted Montreal to then trade down too, as they were getting offers for #5 but really wanted Demidov.
As a Chicago fan it seemed like we drafted what we were supposed to and expected to, and then were scolded for doing so. IDK, I really don't watch non nhl hockey and don't even look at prospects until the day of the draft. The only sport I ever look at prospects is american football. Because of that, every other draft I just accept that the scouts must have seen something, and if it works it works.
Don't worry about the optics, taking Levshunov was never going to be as sexy as picking Demidov to form a dynamic duo with Bedard, but it's a good pick, he looks like he'll be a monster on the back end and just as important to winning games as Demidov, if not more so.
The problem wasn’t the people they picked, their 2nd and 3rd 1sts were slight reaches but still justifiable. The price they paid however is not, they gave up 20, 34, 54 and 61 for 18 and 27. That is a huge overpay to move up 2 and 7 spots late in the 1st round considering both of those guys could have been got with their own original picks without giving up 2 seconds. If they just picked Eiserman with 18 then it would have been 100% justified but they didn’t.
For Caps fans, I think what Washington is going for with Parascek is chemistry with another one of their top prospects, Zac Funk. The two of them lit it up together this season in Prince George in the WHL.
a lot of teams participating , in this first round . like to see you do a feature covering the Avalanche . That draft where they had , seven 1st. round selections !?$
What types of forwards are there other than defensive forwards and power forwards? Like what kind of forwards are players like Sam Reinhart or Auston Matthews?
If Lindstrom's back injury isn't a hindrance, Columbus got a potential top 6 kid who is BUILT. 6'3", broad shouldered and strong at age 18. Talk about the potential for being tough to play against....
I was hyping myself up all day about potentially getting Demidov but I kept thinking that I need to be ready to be disappointed. NOT ANYMORE!! I’ve loved almost every single decision that Kent Hughes and co. have made, and this is the VERY delicious cherry on top. I’ve been happy with the entire rebuild process since 2022 and so far Montreal looks more interesting than they’ve been in a looooong time. Now it’s just a matter of turning all of these young players/prospects into a regular playoff team (and hopefully a Stanley Cup contender soon enough). I can’t say that the rebuild is over but Demidov looks to be the last major piece that this organization needs. We have a pretty good forward group, an outstanding crop of young dmen, and potential starters in Dobes/Fowler. Obviously not every player will work out but they’ve done as much drafting as they can. No need to rush anything next season, but as soon as next summer it might be time to convert extra picks/prospects into NHL talent to fill any remaining holes. GO HABS GO!!!!
Don't forget Hage too, he looks like someone who could be a great lower line forward who really would give it all to see the Habs win. Demidov is an elite talent and an absolute steal, but Hage looks like he was born to be a Hab and I totally get why Hughes traded up for him. Go Habs go!
I was kinda weird when we drafted someone I never heard of but after looking at his stuff I agree he should be given a chance. We might be able to pair him with Boldy and see what happens.

MTL if they coulda got eiserman and demidov woulda been a crazy draft
Flames just got their PP1 QB for their next era. I can't believe Zayne Parekh fell to 9, insane talent.
He didn't really "fall" to 9 lol that's about where he was mocked.
@Canadian.Reacts More like 7th or 8th.
Close to no one had him top 5 lol
For Caps fans, I think what Washington is going for with Parascek is chemistry with another one of their top prospects, Zac Funk. The two of them lit it up together this season in Prince George in the WHL.
Demidov is a hab I couldn't be happier.
Ottawa made out like banderps
The anaheim jersey is badass
a lot of teams participating , in this first round .
like to see you do a feature covering the Avalanche .
That draft where they had , seven 1st. round selections !?$
What types of forwards are there other than defensive forwards and power forwards? Like what kind of forwards are players like Sam Reinhart or Auston Matthews?
Montreal taking Demidov and having Celine Dion announce the pick was the moment of the Draft for sure.
No
If Lindstrom's back injury isn't a hindrance, Columbus got a potential top 6 kid who is BUILT. 6'3", broad shouldered and strong at age 18. Talk about the potential for being tough to play against....
Seattle first pick Berkly Catton was born in Saskatoon, not Spokane.
Do the Pens only have scouts at this point?
Love the Bruins pick. At 25 you take a chance with a high risk high reward player.
Underrated but this was a great first round for players of color. Love to see the game grow a bit!!
Go Habs go!
9:10 wait why lol
Did you guys know that its important to have a second line center??
Who would have thought..
EJ Emery sounds like the kind of name that gets generated in an EA game when you’re drafting in GM Dynasty mode.
I love a good chaotic draft day
Sharks finally made a good pick ❤
he'll bust
I thought the shocked llama was a donkey hahahah
Will always give these kids a chance first before judging them but I was surprised Caps didn’t go Eiserman or Solberg
This Sennecke pick reminds me a LOT of KK. 3rd overall team passes on plenty of other players that were better for a fit;
Yep, either they'll look like genius or like dummies down the road.
The Habs should have kept KK on the farm team longer. I'm just glad he fizzled out in Carolina instead of Montreal 😅
as a lightning fan i really loved this first round, i can't wait to see who we drafted- oh right
I like the Devils pick because they need more grit in the system, not flashy offensive defensive players
I would love if you recorded this and referred to Elite Prospects as Doug Mckenzie the entire video.
Really surprised there were not more sons of former NHLers in this draft since these players were conceived during the lockout year.
Don’t mind the Wild drafting another Calder finalist 🔥 loading up on D
I was kinda weird when we drafted someone I never heard of but after looking at his stuff I agree he should be given a chance. We might be able to pair him with Boldy and see what happens.
