Just bought a red leather chair. I am wanting to attach a cloth, a towel or paper of some kind to the headrest to prevent hair spray and oils from my hair from getting on the head rest. It would need to be two-sided and it would have to be temporary as I would have to wash the cloth/towel or discard the paper when it gets too soiled and replace it.
I've been experimenting with different ultra-thin 2mm- and 3mm-wide double-sided tapes for fletching arrows for archery and was thinking whatever tape I don't use for archery can be used for leatherwork. Is this true? Will any thin double-sided tape work for leatherwork, as long as it holds, or are there other issues to think of, such as certain tapes gumming up needles more than other tapes?
Let's just put it like this. Your shop your rules. My shop my rules. You're design and engineering your rules. And the same goes with me so if I was going to use something like that I would do some testing before I put it into production to make sure that it was going to function the way I needed to.
Sailrite also sells this type of tape, they call it basting tape. It comes in different widths and with different adhesives for adhering to different material types. I usually buy the type for canvas & upholstery and it has stuck to everything I've put it on. May be different brand than yours but works great for me.
I just bought some of this tape, it is unbelievably strong. Nearly as strong as contact cement. And I do mean nearly as strong. Worth the money. For sure.
thanks AL!!! I know its asking alot but if you could do a step 1 to done project that would be soooo cool. Love all that you do. Keep bringing the tutorials.
