  • The Hori Split Pad Pro is an officially licensed Nintendo accessory coming in at about $50. The accessory will give you a full-size controller experience in handheld mode and is a comfortable joy-con alternative. There are a few drawbacks and annoyances though. We'll discuss all that and more in this Hori Split Pad Pro Review.
Buy HORI Split Pad Pro - amzn.to/3fEp0tY
Overall, the Hori Split Pad Pro is one of the most comfortable and ergonomic controllers I've ever used for the Nintendo Switch. It really does give Switch users a full-sized controller feel. It also offers grip on the back of HORI controllers, as well as larger buttons, triggers, and analog sticks. There's a full-sized D-Pad on the left controller, and both controllers have extra "Assign" and "Turbo" buttons. We'll discuss how to use the Assign and Turbo buttons on the Split Pad Pro. Finally, both controllers also offer an extra button/trigger on the back of the controller that is assignable.

I could totally see this being a good option if you travel a lot with your switch. And $50 doesn't seem too bad considering it's essentially a controller.

They’re also releasing a new set that includes the Split Pad as well as a grip so that you can actually use these as an actual controller (wired- but it’s headphone friendly- seems like a good trade-off to me)

I’d say it’s not worth $50 because of its missing features. If it were like $30 or under then it is. There’s a better option from companies like NYXI and Binbok and those are the same price and is definitely worth grabbing because it has more features.

    • @christopher32074
      @christopher32074 3 года назад +1

@@aleckbo It’s a unique peripheral but it takes like several seconds to transform the controller. First you have to remove the Split Pads on the Switch, attach them to the grip and then connect the cables. As a result, it takes much longer than syncing up a controller or just plugging in a wired controller.

Bought these yesterday for my 2 week old switch oled, works great. I currently put it back on the box when im not using it (kinda small annoyance) i might buy the carrying case for it. Side note, the reason its not working when its not connected to the switch is becuase it doesnt have a battery like other brands have. Which isnt a deal breaker for me.

I really wish I could try it. I want the steam deck and recently saw a photo on Reddit/twitter that showed this switch side by side with the deck and they’re identical so I guess the size is something that will become the norm in a way. But I get that whole “hands close together” thing too - it’s why using the joycons detatched feels a bit off if you’re playing a game that uses the analog a lot

I got them also to use them for Apex, still getting use to shoot better,i came from COD and stop playing cause alot of camping and staying at one spot, with Apex its more intense and players just go all in instead of staying at one spot most of the time. Ordered the Split Pad Compact cause I wanted to have a little bit of both. I really recommend these to whoever has big hands.

I was disappointed you cannot use it like joycons and that they must be connected at all times.
However I use the joycons for handheld mode most of the time, if I wanted to use it non handheld I would just use a pro controller.
And considering I already went through two pairs of joycons I don’t want to drop 80 bucks again so 50 was the better move and I’m liking it so far just got it an hour ago.

My hori slit pad has a deadzone like the binboks but the enlarged joystick I believe makes them alittle better for no gyro aim. Still rubbish to be competitive.

It's crazy how cheap it is

Don't you think they are way over priced since they are not full independent controllers? Since they are just handheld attachments they should be half the price... everything I'm seeing on Amazon is 60dollars.
It's 1/3 of a functional joycon so it should be 1/3 the price. You're over paying for plastic and color.

Personally, I think they’re worth it. But that’s just my opinion. Kind of like I said toward the end of the video, you can get a plastic grip for the Switch for like $20-$30. But, if you spend $50 on these…you get the grip you’re looking for, plus actual controllers with bigger buttons and more features (extra buttons on the back, turbo feature, etc.). I think it really just comes down to personal preference. If you want to save some money, a cheaper plastic grip will still give you the “full-sized controller experience”.
      Thanks for the comment! 😁

    - no vibration
    - no gyroscope
    - too wide
    - too thick and sticking out too much
No way this thing is worth it. I would rather go for Dobe grip+joycon mutant, as it does not only cost somewhat same, it also gives some actual protection due to having a backplate and is a bit less wide.

      “too wide”
      “too thick”
But the point of this controller is to be a bigger alternative to joy-cons. I think if you play action games, shooter games, or fighting games this is going to be a fun controller.
