Really detailed, excellent work. Hard going back from steam deck to a switch just because it's so small! Seems like a great idea. I play my switch 98% of the time in handheld mode on single player games. Have you had any issues with your hands going a bit numb using these controllers? Would be a great investment if they are going to work on the Switch 2.
Thanks I’m glad you liked it! Yeah there is a real difference in the size between the Switch & Steam Deck it can be weird going back and forth. I’ve not had my hands going a bit numb, I tend to play for maybe an hour at a time so maybe I don’t play for long enough? That’s a good point I didn’t think of, it would be cool if these do work on a Switch successor!
try the grips from SATISFYE if you want to keep using your joycons. I have hand issues and its amazing how much more comfortable the switch is now. I don't have the hori pads yet but I have them on order thanks to this reviews. I found a frame for my switch that allows me to use it in verticle handheld mode for verticle shooters.
Hi Tom, I think the primary things I care about are Hall Effect joysticks; having to fix drifting joycons has been the bane of my existence for years. I'm guessing the Hori Splitpad does not have them?
Hi! I can’t see any mention of it on the website or box, I’d guess if they had Hall Effect joysticks it would on there somewhere! Maybe if those are the most important factor for you then the split pad wouldn’t be the way to go
Doesn’t fit in Oled dock. Doesn’t seem like a big deal but the constant putting on taking off ended up making this grip unappealing and it just collects dust now
Thanks for the review. i think I'll go with the new compact pro models from hori now instead of these. They are a little more expensive but they seem to fix some of the complaints you've mentioned from what Ive read from other sources. I want these as I found a verticle frame for my switch so I can play smups (aracde shooters) in vertical mode with my switch as using regular joycons without a grip is painful for me. That being said have you tried the new dockable grips for the switch from SATISFYE? I have large hands and I find them amazing for comfort. The frame is asymetric so using the right joycon is much easier now thx to the asymetric frame changing your hand placement. Anyway Im looking forward to hori grips now. Note if ever try the SATISFYE grips you use the stick caps they provide with some models (like buying it with their wonderful cases) you will need to recalibrate the sticks. I do kind of like them as I find the standard joycon sticks slippery on my thumbs.
Hey I’m glad you liked it! I’ve not seen the Hori compact ones I’ll have to check them out. I have seen the new dockable satisfye grip and I’d love to give that one a go but I can’t seem to find it where I live without paying a really big import fee so it feels a lot for just a grip 😔 would really like to give it a go though
They are pretty cool and been wondering about these myself for a while. I agree that the joy cons do feel a bit fragile. I’ve never played Pokémon but I love the design of those. The only thing that I’m not too keen on is the triggers like you. If they were like the Xbox ones that would be better. I do like that it has a proper + pad too, that’s one of the things I noticed coming from the switch lite to The switch oled that I thought was a bit weird. How you finding prince of Persia? Lucky man having the wedding suit Mario. I missed out on that! And no hi rumble doesn’t really bother me too much, a lot of the time on Xbox I turned the rumble off as it annoyed me. ESP on games like assassins creed. Great video again mate 🙂
Thanks glad you liked it! Yeah there's not a Nintendo Switch controller attachment that's perfect for me, there's some kind of downside in all of them, like the triggers or HD rumble. But these tick most of the boxes at least! I still think my fave controller is the PS5 one for the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, maybe Switch 2 will have some of those features! Wedding suit Mario is my only Amiibo apart from the card, and I don't even remember buying it! It's just always been on my shelf 🤣
@@tomfinler it just appeared one day haha! The only amiibo I have are Pac-Man, chibi robo, zero suit samus, dark samus, ripley, and the Metroid dread set. My brother has quite a few of the original ones. I regret not getting the other Metroid ones and mega man. There really the only ones I’m after now. I think my favorite controller will always be the Xbox series controller. Just feels so right.
I want to get a few more but there’s not many gaming stores around me so I don’t often think about it! Sounds like you’ve got a decent collection there!
Thank you for your in-depth review! I think I’ll pull the trigger on this one
I’m glad it was useful, thanks for watching!

Sucks that the rumble was never added to the Split Pad Pro, but everything else sounds great
Yeah it’s a bit of a shame but I still like them overall!
Good video! Keep going :)
Thanks I’m glad you liked it! 😄
Also these don’t have gyroscope. I use a grip but I feel like the split pad would be even more comfortable and easy to stow in my backpack
Yeah true no gyroscope but I still think they’re pretty good! It’s been a couple of months since I made the video and they’re still on my Switch!

That’s strange, my Switch is sat in my OLED dock with these controllers on right now
@ mine fit in the old original dock, but not in the oled dock . I know I am not the only one
Once the controllers are connected I personally think it feels lovely
Yeah I think it was about 6 months ago I made this video and I’m still using these on my Switch!
Can u please tell me what is the total weight of the switch with the split pad pro attached?
Hi, no problem together it is 488g
@@tomfinler thank u so much

Get a better Mic set up
Thanks for the recommendation
Hd rumble is overrated as long as it still rumbles.
There’s no rumble or vibration at all with these
what is the name of that game you are playing?
Hi! Do you mean the game at 04:22 ish? That’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
