I'm likely in the minority here but I would LOVE to see a video about treating skin that tends to clog very quickly. I've dealt with this for decades now and given that I'm newly 40 - I'd like to find a way to effectively treat it so I can pretend it's not a thing anymore (lol). Thank you, Dr. Idriss!!! 💖💖💖

Me too and I'm almost 68. I have to say though that Dr. Idriss's recommendation to wash only with water in the am as to not end up stripping the skin barrier is making a difference for me. I can hear my mum yelling at me about the "acid mantle" on my skin over 50 years ago but now it's just so wonderful the doctor is willing to help us all! 😊

Hi Dr. Idriss, I just wanted to thank you about your hate on HAs, lol. I finally tried not to use my HA serum and boy oh boy did my skin thank me the following day. Because I have compromised my skin barrier, I tried cutting out on my skincare routine and just used an eye cream and moisturizer last night. I already saw a difference on how my skin looked and now I understand why you always say we don’t need HA. Hi Dr.Shereen,
My question revolves around red light therapy and tretinoin. I currently use tretinoin at night and I just recently bought a omnilux mask. I use tretinoin 3 times a week and on the off nights use the mask, but according to their website, "For users taking prescriptive levels of Retin A such as Tretinoin we do not recommend the use of light devices. Those using cosmetics/skincare products containing retinol should read the skincare instructions carefully for warnings and precautions in relation to exposure to light. Retin A should be discontinued for at least 5 days before performing light therapy treatments". For context, I am a 43 year old woman who has had melasma in the past and some fine lines. Also, a few years ago I had a mole removed on the side of my face that was squamous cell carcinoma in situ. I get nervous about combining the two things and I don't hear anyone talking about this. Could you please explain why the website advises against using both things.

I have sensitive dry skin. I am 30, female, never struggled with acne in all my teen years.
In the last 6 months(winter in dry environment) I started washing my face in the evening with cetephil gentle cleanser (for normal to dry) and then applying gentle lotion(dry to normal). I finish by drying with a clean towel. That went well.
Here's where the problem started...first of all, always washed my hands first. I started wearing sunscreen regularly everyday.
Most chemical gave a rash... I have olive completion so tinted mineral is best, I guess.
Eucerin sensitive mineral face, looked nice but made the skin above my top lip have a dry flaky rash. I think it was the straight Zinc 24%. I treated with Hydrocortisone.
I have really like Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisterizer. It blends into my olive skin well. Feels nice and easy to reapply.
In the evening I remove with gentle Micellar Cleansing Water and gentle clenser followed with lotion.
Since trying to wear spf lotion everyday I am breaking out with acne!
I have several white heads and a few cystic, a stye....
I have had dry skin all my life how could I possibly over mostrize!?!
Help me wear the damn sunscreen!

I just wish you would deliver abroad because is a whole story for me to get the products😊. Today’s video is very enlightening on cleansing the face. The split on skin types is very good as sometimes we get lost in too many products available. Maybe you could do same kind of videos on all kind of products split by skin type: like exfoliants for dry/oily…hydration for dry/oily…etc. I know there are videos on all of these I am just suggesting on organizing them like this one. Thank you so much for your usefull information

I would love to see a video on skincare for people with severely sensitive and dry skin. I have a sun allergy, contact dermatitis from most things and lupus. Plus recurrent staph infections that are related to immunodeficiency. It's literally hell trying to introduce anything. I wish I could come see Dr. Idris!

For everyone mentioning she didn’t discuss dry acne prone skin, yes I think it would have been nice to cover. However, at least to me, she gave us quite a bit of info that could also apply to this skin type. For instance, I see a lot of people in the comments saying, “I use BHAs and/or AHAs every night and I still breakout,” but she’s mentioned before that actives are not meant to be used everyday for most people. It’s like imagine if you used a body sugar scrub on your face everyday. Your skin would be stripped, right? At least that’s how I perceived it. Thus, I would use the types of cleansers for dry skin everyday mainly she said, then use your active cleansers only 1-3x/week and see if you have improvements. Also, bonus, she said gel cleansers could work for everyone mainly. Idk these are just my suggestions based on what I’ve heard and seen from her videos

Go to EWG, type in the product, and they will tell you all the bad stuff in it. I’ve had a double mastectomy and Dr. Idriss has had a lumpectomy so it’s safe to assume her products are “safe”. She’s not in the EWG yet. But the high-end name brands are. You’ll be surprised. I certainly was.

I would appreciate a video or short about skincare based on the environment where we live based on the skintype. Most cleansers either dry my skin out or cause breakouts. I use a cold cream cleanser by mama nature and it leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. I have sensitive combination skin (oily t zone with some dry areas on my cheeks) and this seems to 'balance' the oils and my skin feels thoroughly cleansed afterwards. It is almost like using a cream soap. I also use their apricot and avocado face cream and overall I am more than happy as my skin is feeling 'normal' after years of trying one fad product after another and spending fortunes on five step routines! A fun thing about the cold cream cleanser is it can also be used as your daytime moisturiser! Though I love the face cream so much I haven't tried this yet. My sister kept stealing my cold cream because she said she loved the feel of it and it made her makeup 'glide on'. Now I keep it hidden so she can 'glide off' and buy her own :)

    • @bellenesatan

Try topical antiandrogens. I manage my hormonal acne immaculately through ketoconazole 2% (once a week! it's drying.) and azelaic acid (chef's kiss! beautiful ingredient.)
Other options are topical spironolactone cream, topical finasteride, and of course, the golden grail for most acne cases: retinoids.
I'm not a professional by any means, so definitely cross-reference my recommendations with your healthcare provider for best results! Hope this leads you in the right direction ❤

Hello Dr Shereene! I love your work on RUclips, it is very helpful! I am aware it is not major topic for many people, but I am already struggling with hyperpigmentation and dont want to change the lifestyle that much. So maybe I'll be the lucky one. You always mention - be aware of the environment you live in. Could you do even a short one about best recommendations for the hot, humid and ALWAYS sunny places? Maybe water/sweat resistant? Or how many times we should reapply sunscreen if we have big sun exposure? Are sun sticks/zinc good to use? Or what to use when you do watersports (kitesurfing) but want to have good protection? I would be really grateful :) Have a good Sunday!
