For weight savings and ease of construction, get an aluminium walking stick... they are cheap. Cut and use the adjustable part and the rubber foot... it's simple, light and very easy to adjust in different environments.
U just nailed it , Mite ...... I was thinking on similar lines , but You hit it and put it on the Net , Mite . U R No.1 Engineer , Mite . Love you Brother . Can I add a bit more : Always put the bike into 1st gear , when you want to work on the Front Wheel . Push the rear wheel against a kerb or a big rock . Doest look safe while working on the Rear wheel . You need an extra pair of hands to avoid tipping off the bike . Good try , though .
Extendable not too tricky. Two,pieces of tube, one small enough to fit inside the other. drill multiple holes in each so that extension can be raised to different heights - bolt through each tube to hold in place.
Great idea... I'm thinking of a way to make it sectional so it can fit in a tool roll. Maybe a section of larger pipe serve as a sleeve. So much better than laying your bike down to change a tire or do chain maintenance on the road.
You could make it a telescoping stand if you had another pipe with an inner diameter that the current one could slide easily, have holes to line up and use a second nut & bolt as the adjuster. Still what you've done works and is simple.
Great idea mate. I'm prepping for as long trip and this looks like an ideal piece of kit to take. For the foot couldn't you have simply bent the end of the pipe 90 degrees about an inch? I might give it a go 👍
Nice! I could have for sure. But had some spare parts I could utilize. Also I was thinking once I bent a round tube it might compromise its strength. Thanks for the tip though you could well be right
@@NzJohny I've got an extendable tent pole i could cut to size and try. Might be tricky to bend the end so i might make a foot pad. Thanks for the inspiration 🍻
Great idea. However, while a foot is nice, if you leave the end open, you can slip it over the handle of the 24 or 19mm wrenches to help get the axle nuts loose before you stand the bike up. There's always something lying around, like a rock, to use as a foot.
Way too long for packing. I bought a cheap $10 aluminum cane from Walmart and cut it down. Put a rubber furniture foot on the side that didn't already have one and voila. When collapsed as short as possible it is only 9in long (22.8cm) . Haven't measured fully extended but it's more than enough to accomplish what you did there given the dr650s ground clearance. Same concept but it's much more packable
the other options would be trekking poles which would give dual use, hiking and tire repairs. You could also cut down walking cane. The are also adjustable but on need the handle cut off.
Once my broken leg healed the crutch bottoms became 2 multi adjustable bush stands for me and a mate. Work perfectly

I love it, I've been looking to build a feild repair stand and this is one of the simplest and functional I've seen. Fantastic.
Nice job...came out nice, thanks
Thanks :)
Nice and simple! This has inspired me to look through my garage to see what I have laying around. I can probably do something similar. Cheers!
You will probably find something 😅 chers mate
Awesome 👏
Another project to add to the list, been avoiding it for to long lol Good job on yours looks good and functional and the price was right *T4S* 🍻

Good plan! Let me know what you come up with 😎
👍
ski poles from a garage sale or golf clubs work too.

I was thinking that also. That would be ideal but wasn't willing to invest in it 😅 thanks for watching.
i think it bad idea. but it work. like

I had one of those collapse while changing a tube. The push button failed and fell out. I’ve since drilled holes and use a bolt through it.
Would tent/awning poles work?? They are already adjustable.
Good idea!

@@vanislerider7311 some great tips there! I may give it another go at some point.
