      As a dad, I too got the joke

  • @thefrub
    @thefrub 5 лет назад +225

    One quick little thing to make it lock more solidly, weld a raised line across where the wheel stops, like a little curb the wheel has to jump over and get stuck behind when it's up. This will give you the added bonus of making it go KADUNK everytime it raises, and that will be a satisfying feel in your foot

    My grandfather was a machinist. He passed away when I was young but hanging out with him in his garage are my most favorite memories of being a wee child. He lived in Michigan and was a tool and die maker for General Motors. I inherited a lot of his small machining tools, and didn’t know what any of them were. Watching your videos educates me and puts me in touch with a part of him that I never got to now. Thank you. ᛟ

    Couple of ideas which you will want as the bikes grow and get heavier. Either add a little pnumatic piston to stop the stand slamming down, or if you want an easier option, weld a hoop for your foot to slide into on top of the handle, that way you can lift your foot to start the bike being lowered, and then use your body weight to slow it as it crashes down. Hooks are a good idea for the footpegs. Nice job as usual

    "The round, shiny thing in the sky is burning my skin" is powerfully relatable. Also, your cat is cute. Not as cute as my cat, obviously, but still very cute. Although, my cat lacks the ability to poop out steel parts. I guess it kind of evens out.

    As per the instructions, replaced the top part with my head for a heavier bike. It didn't work well and now I have to add the hospital bill for cranial fracture to the cost of the project.

    Teachable moment: 4:57. Also, I'd _totally_ over-weld that thing simply because my OCD has a strict no-missing-welds-where-a-weld-could-be policy.

    Great stuff as always This Old Tony. Do you ride trial? Trial is king to me, has been since the 80's when I was in in Europe in USAF. Incredible skills, simply amazing to watch. I was only a spectator. Just like machining and fabricating. Your videos are entertaining and enlightening, thanks for creating.

    For small parts like these, instead of leaving grinding marks I like using Muriatic Acid. Cleans the surfaces really well and leaves a nice finish that takes paint well. It should do the same thing with the kid's hands after working on the bike .

    My favorite Meatball Moment was the time you needed a screw, got her chasing your finger through the table. You scare her, and she poops out the needed hardware. Laughed until I had tears! My 10 year old had the same reaction.
