Absolutely brilliant, very nice trailer. I will only make a safety suggestion, you only "lock" used to hold the lowering bar down to the trailer is not backed up with a safety pin or latch of some sort. It has been my experience that the current latch will, at some point, fail and allow the lowering bar to come loose and cause you lose your load. With the addition of the hold down hoops on the same lowering bar you are putting more load on the bar with no back up safety, again, causing the hold down pin to potentially work its way loose, rising up and causing your load to be lost since the hold downs are not attached to thw bas frame of your trailer. Fix that... and i think you have a superbly awesome bike trailer. Keep up the great work. Note, i did watch the whole video and if i missed where the lock for the pin is, well, thats my bad, im sorry. Still a great trailer
Like to add something that will help keep scratches off front tire rim Mount some rubber strips on each side Use glue or mount somehow That Will keep rim from getting scratched Your Welcome 🤗
To all those bitching that this isn't a DIY project because he has a fully equipped shop, the only thing he did that you couldn't do with common hand tools was form things with the press. Those steps could be replaced by cutting and welding the parts rather than forming them. Otherwise he used a grinder, drill, and a welder. If you don't have those, then don't try to build a trailer yourself.
Pretty awesome build. There are two things I would suggest as improvements. First, I would not trust that short lockdown pin. I would want it to go all the way through the bar with reinforcement on both sides of the bar. Drill a hole through the end of the lock pin on the back side of the bar and put a clip pin through so there's no way it could come out in transit. If that existing pin fails, your lift bar is going to go up and your trailer will hit the ground. Since your tiedowns are attached to that same bar, the bike may get thrown from the trailer. The other thing I would suggest is on the ramp. You used an old ramp flipped upside down for your loading rail. That ramp has lips folded toward the bike wheels. I would fold those down flat against the inside of the ramp to prevent damage to the tires when loading or if the bike shifts sideways while towing. Otherwise, it's a great idea that's well executed. I do see I'm not the first to bring up the lockdown pin.
I took a used tilt trailer and removed the axle and tilt pivot and built an outer frame and made it into a drop deck trailer very similar to what you have here. I used the old wheel bearings for the pivot but I really love the hinges you made with just a rectangle tube for an arm connecting the two frames allowing the pivot drop down. I am making another trailer since the one I have is WAY too heavy and I was going to buy a pillow mounted bearing and use a long round tube for the hinge across the bottom of the whole trailer. Now That I see what you did instead of a bearing or something similar you used the hinges you made with an "arm" connecting to the ramp frame. I love the simplicity and less complicated fabrication and it also seems like this would give me more structural connection and stability than a couple pillow bearings would have. The welded hinge arms have more welded edges and should be a stronger connection. I am so glad I came across your video.
WOW! I am so glad I watched this. That turned out beautifully. Thanks for condensing all these hours of meticulous craftsmanship into a short video. I would just like to suggest that you add amber marker lights on the outside-facing edges of the tail light housings, so cars can see it from the side better at night.
Absolutely brilliant trailer design for hauling a motorcycle and a great job building it. Very well done on building it as well. I believe it will have a long life of use and be a very safe way to haul a motorcycle. The only thing i could think of to add to protect the motorcycle from rocks would be some type of plastic or polycarbonate between the car and motorcycle on the trailer.
That was absolutely fantastic, I am so glad I subscribed to your channel. It's factual and entertaining at the same time. And, done it such a way that would be easy to follow should someone have the right tools and skills to build a trailer like this one. Thank you..........
This video brings hope to my aspiration to, some day, becoming a not so bad welder. Watching someone using regular sticks instead of mig or tig, and cursing because they stick to the workpieces, is kind of comforting. Best regards 👍
The side straps should go to an un-suspended part of the bike like the rear wheel. As is, the bike is the trailer's suspensions and the straps will slack on compression and slam tight on extension, something is gonna come loose, snap, or bend.
Outstanding build. I was curious how you did the pivot point until I watched the whole video. My only concern is the tie down points being on the outer hoop. this means that 100% of the bike's security relies on the latch pin. if it fails, then all of your tie downs do as well since the hoop comes up. great work! I'd trust your build quality anyday.
Certainement la plus intelligente remorque moto que j’ai pu voir.... !!!! Félicitations pour ton travail remarquable et très professionnel. Amitiés d’Alsace 😊
This is not an over centre mechanism, over centre mechanisms are inherently stable, this is not, it will drop without the locking pin whereas an over centre system would not! An over centre system typically reaches a point where it will self close, Kilner jars, some beer bottles, old suitcases and some trailer toolboxes use over centre catches, they will go tight and then snap closed pulling away from you as you press on them, this is definitely not one!
This is a great motorcycle trailer build I wish I had your shop to use I would be able to build some great stuff also. But your design is great thank you for sharing.
8.5/10 ...... Brilliant job, however, I see that you are putting a lot of faith in the locking pin that holds the lift bar in place, not only is it holding the bar with a small amount of stick out, but the bar is also the tie down point for the bike, if that pin fails then the bar lifts, the trailer drops and you loose all your tie down strength. Please take this as a suggestion from an old man who overengineers everything, Stay safe my friend and keep on building.
Excellent work. I really enjoyed seeing this from the very start. I was thinking about making one for my Harley instead of using my truck or my covered trailer that is a monstrosity, besides im currently using that for storage anyways right now. Thanks for sharing this unique idea from Western Massachusetts. USA 🇺🇸
Sei una continua Ispirazione. Nela chiusura a molla, metti un bullone passante per il blocco totale di sicurezza, per i lunghi tragitti o per strade disconnesse.
A great build as always great use of an old axle as mentioned that locking pin could leave you with an issue , liking the idea of redrilling for the hubs on the new wheel rims . Genius use of the small roller for the paint , I would have used either a spray gun or brush both being messier than yours. I am surprised there is no jockey wheel on the front . All in all a very enjoyable build with your twist on a lazy loader trailer .. cheers

Or it could have easily been done with a simple MAP Gas torch, a vise, and a hammer.

There’re plenty brands making that trailer system since years! 😊

Heavy duty good job! 👍👍👍
Excellent job---I would recommend a secondary tilt lock or safety chain . Thanks
Excellent! Just a safety chain on the rocker lock maybe?😊
Fantastic work - well done
That motorcycle you were loading is huge, didn't get a good look but it looks like big 6 cylinder engine. That was a great build

Clever design. Thanks for sharing it and your build.
perfect and beautiful work
Perfect idea! I love the design!
I'd pay for this. Simple, yet extremely effective. I cringe at trailering my bike(2016 custom Busa) from fear of dropping it.🏁🏁🏁
Très pratique, superbe idée 🎉
