It seems your big problem with Deftones, based on what you’ve articulated here, is that they don’t always sound like you’d prefer them to sound. Great analysis.
I like all sides of Deftones. Slow, fast, heavy, in the middle. They do it all incredibly well.
Understanding that you're young, and have a lot of energy, don't cut out songs by great bands just because they're slower. You might be surprised. Those kinds of songs have just as much to offer but in a different way. Sure, some might not be as great as others but some are actually super deep, nuanced, complex and powerful.
I do get being into heavier/faster music at the moment, though. When I was younger I listened to more faster stuff than slower stuff. Now it's just a mix of both. You'd probably like the album Toxicity by System of a Down. Great energy and really heavy. Every song is good on that one.
Of course I like a lot of slow and soft songs but you are right I listen mostly to fast and hard songs. I also came to metalcore because I had to let out my depression somewhere and I can do that best with screaming.
I own every System of a Down album but I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion but in my opinion Mesmerize is the best album ^^

@@MarvinHeartless Thought of an album you might not know that I think you'd like. Relationship of Command by At the Drive In. They're kinda like a more hardcore version of Rage Against the Machine. Like Rage with a dash of punk and a dash of screamo.

Cool reaction. Yea Deftones is my favorite band like your parents. They are definitely not for everyone.. but if you get into them you’ll appreciate their unique style.
That is true. I have mixed feeling with Deftones they have songs I really love but also songs I'm not getting warm with ^^
Try Deftones songs like Be Quiet and Drive, Digital Bath, Bored, and Changes if you haven’t heard these. These are their best ones in my opinion.
