  • When a friend told Antoni Porowski that a reboot of Queer Eye was in the works, he was instantly terrorstruck. He'd been working as an actor for a long time, as well as in restaurants and as an assistant to the original cast's food expert Ted Allen, so on paper, this seemed like the opportunity of a lifetime. But in reality, he was terrified of stepping into the spotlight and sharing the two things that were most intimate to him: food and his sexuality. Porowski sat down for a deeply personal conversation about life in the public eye, being an immigrant kid, what drove him to write his new cookbook Antoni in the Kitchen, and how he manages his anxiety on the road.

    "I am enough, I have enough" that hit me, Antoni's montra is gentle but powerful and I dont know if anything else would suit him so well. Even the way he said it gave me goosebumps I think more people need that kind of energy in their life and that is why he is such a blessing.

    Many of us on the spectrum also struggle with ADD and imposter syndrome. I relate to Antoni in that way. Just communicating in a different way than most creates an uncertainty of how others perceive you and the constant anxiety of how people see and understand you.

      They are actually describing introverts. Introverts like to socialize and feel good doing it, but then we need time alone to recharge. Some people incorrectly think all introverts are anti-social. That's not true. I like small groups of people or one on one interactions best. And if you get to talk about something you know or care about, you will talk and interact more.

      it's the polish dude coming through. what americans call "bread" most europeans call "toast" (white, toast shaped bread), what we call bread (dark loaf of bread) is very different from that. "Untoasted toast" is a really common expression in multiple contries.

    A really lovely interview. But when filming and the volume of people's voices is so different please compensate with the mic or something. Or please talk a little louder. Often the interviewer talked to quietly it was hard to understand. THE VOLUME OF BOTH IS NOT AT THE SAME LEVEL. It takes away from the from the experience when watching and is very easy to fix.
    This is the only thing that bothered me. Otherwise it was a very wonderful, casual conversation. Love that.

    • @Jen-vy7ff
      @Jen-vy7ff 3 года назад +2

      Well sort of. Caffeine often doesn't affect people with ADHD in the same way as neurotypical people. ADHD meds don't work for 20-30% of ADHDers and sometimes they use caffeine to medicate their ADHD symptoms. Insomnia or other difficulties with sleep are really common with people with ADHD. (Not trying to correct you -- I just hope this helps us understand each other better!)
