Not just humans. Elves too based on what i've seen on the manga though according to the lore they can pretty much impregnate any female from other species.

The thing I like about this anime is that the meaning of being "powerful" is quite different compared to other anime. When they say powerful, most of the time the main characters are at high-ass level, possess shit loads of high damage skills...etc. In this anime, it's powerful in terms of being experienced as an adventurer. For goblin slayer, he doesn't really possess powerful flashy skills of any sort, he's more of a specialist who knows what he's doing and he actually makes proper preparation, using tactics/strategies to strike down the enemies, I just love the realism.
I like that way more than just a random ass character born to be OP from the beginning.
Eh, it's a mix of both. Most adventurers at this rank are way stronger in the classic sense and there's a sorts of progression system BUT you don't just become a demigod compared to beginners who would be virtually untouchable in combat by "lower" enemies.
Oh wow I didn't think of it like that. That's the kind of intelligent thinking I love finding in comment sections besides the funny ones.

@Kappadaniel Oh, GS is quite insane, and freely admits it. He is fully aware that his obsession is unhealthy. He just doesn't allow it to slow him down, and knows better than most just how needfull his crusade is.
To make a similie - what is more dangerous/damaging? a rabid wolf or a pack of rats? It's a trick question. A rabid wolf is a lot more IMEDIATELY dangerous, but if you let the rats alone they will breed and cause a lot more damage - after all, remember that it was rats responsible for the rapid spread of black death. But for anyone who has not really seen just what devastation can be brought by rats will consider them JUST rats.
Goblins are the lowest level monster, but people keep dying to them. And most people still don't recognize as a threat. Until you see 50 or more, that is... Also, people don't go buying medicines for goblin slaying or sewer rats, as they think goblins are stupid, and the need for antidotes is supposed to be beyond goblin-level threats. Those who die tell no tales and those who return tell you goblins are easy.
Aside from that:
1.) The higher level dudes aren't taking on goblins because the pay sucks, and the army won't do it because supposedly the demon lord is resurrecting, so they're on hold. So only the noobs take on goblins, so goblins get stronger.
2.) Even the higher level dudes make stupid mistakes like sparing goblins because they treat them like people or don't know the goblin's tricks.
3.) Goblin Slayer shows what happens in DnD what happens when you level up and decide to ignore the low level trash mob quests. Because why wouldn't you either way?
Well, Goblin Slayer can survive with the crappy pay because the pay is meant to be for a noob party of six. The way the adventurers live is the reason the gods love rolling the dice. Even the current legendary hero has a lot of gifts and a very lucky chain of rolls. In reality the hero is more of a a lucky person than a talented one.
That, and GS does so much Goblin work alone that he can afford to live in a royal suite, but only uses money to pay rent at his friend's farm and buy stuff for goblin slaying. Plus he uses cheap crap armor so Goblins can't filch epic equipment off his corpse if he dies, and he only buys noob level swords and bucklers as well as miscellaneous supplies.
Lol yeah. Goblin Slayer's only special power is that the gods can't dice roll for him. So it's all about preparation, planning and experience for him.
@@ES21007 Actually is not a "power" the gods can roll dice for him, the thing is that he planning don't leave it to chance so they rolls normally don't intervene, the more simple way to put it is that he don't leave it to the dices decide.

KittenPyroNao maybe, but I feel that scene only really serves as that basis for Goblin Slayers single minded drive to hunt goblins and goblins only. It doesn’t really serve much more purpose than that. Once that scenes past the next one involves Sword maiden and likewise only serve to inform the viewer to her circumstances.

By the way, I think you guys didn't realize it yet, but remember when Goblin Slayer saw the 4 goblin kids and mentioned how they "multiply fast" and that if they "waited any longer there'd be about 50 of them"?
You see, having 4 young ones in a tribe of 22 doesn't look like much, right? The thing is that goblins don't keep women alive just for fun. Goblins are a male race with the ability to breed with other races, always resulting in goblin children. So the only means of survival for their species is to kidnap women, which is why it's as important to them as stealing supplies from the settlements. They also mature very fast, so pregnancy only lasts for a few days, allowing a single female to give birth to several goblins before they eventually perish.
Which brings me to this: *the 4 goblin kids were actually the children of the village girls that were kidnapped just a few days before* , and the knowledge of what goblins do is why they knew the girls should still be alive, even if barely, but had to be rescued fast. And btw, the thing about goblins being rapists isn't exclusive to Goblin Slayer. Yeah, goblins are nasty in dark fantasy. I suggest you guys watch Slime Datta Ken (airing this season) for a MUCH lighter and likable approach (seriously, goblins are the nicest people in that anime).

Danmachi!? Yeah right ...this is a realistic view on these fantasy adventures and it shows goblins being as horrible as ever.
Oh yeah, everyone always thinks goblins are the weakest, lowest monster; but they always forget they're still monsters.

People always getting mad at the priestess. One: healing doesn't make poison go away, there are separate spells that do that in which she doesn't know because she is a noob. Two: it takes time to use a spells because of the chants needed in which she couldn't do because their team wasn't protecting her. Each team needs someone protecting the spell casters to buy time so they can cast spells. Both spell casters were left alone by both the vanguard and their attacker. She didn't do anything because she couldn't even if she tried in which she did try saving at least one. Too bad she was poisoned.

Goblin Slayer might be confused as having a setting similar to Danmachi, or Konosuba, Overlord, etc... because of the tired trope of an "ADVENTURER'S GUILD" from a videogame, but this is actually rooted something more older, the adventures from a Dungeon's and Dragons pen & paper game, where the Game Master WILL KILL the entire players if they don't prepare, and never pulled any punches.
Honestly no one enjoys dying. Many times as DM I can say they were held hostage or captured. But if they refuse, to prepare and go in stupid despite not being noobs. Chances are I will let them die when the time comes.
Funny you should say that, the anime was inspired by a bad DnD session where the author's party got wiped by goblins, so he made a character that hated goblins, and the rest was history.
Also the game is LITERALLY a DnD verse where the gods roll dice, you have spell slots, there are skills, you rank up in the guild by having experience points tracked (And reaching level 10, Platinum, sucks so hard)...
You know. Those kinds of things.

Does Goblin Slayer take off his helm? - Yes
Is it like Danmachi? - Similar but not the same, darker grittier tone
Does Priestess gets more abilities? - Yes
Is Goblin Slayer great to watch and follow - Hell Yes!
Do more people join their crew? Is the anime this dark the whole time? And, Does the prestess become useful and not one of those "I get by because I'm cutesy" type characters?
Mild Spoilers since if you seen the poster of Goblin Slayer yes they get a crew of a High Elf Archer, a Dwarf Shaman and a Lizard Battle Priest. Priestess is useful to Goblin Slayer thanks to her and Goblin Slayer preparing for every hunt and adventure.
If you really wanna see a cutesy or fanservice character wait for Cow Girl on episode.2 of Goblin Slayer, there are some light tones here and there, but when they adventure it's all business. They don't have names btw because the author wanted them be recognized as those individuals by their moniker because it's easier to remember.

It's actually good storyline, especially if they include in the series a flashback Goblin Slayer Year One the origin which focuses more on how he became the man he is now. Mild spoiler again, Priestess still has some PTSD with her first outing, when the group was in trouble she actually panic and gone in shock like before Goblin Slayer saves her, but manages to pull out thanks again to Goblin Slayer. I won't spoil the details since there is some good stuff there.

Anyone else love the fact that GS went straight for the Shaman as he entered the goblins lair? Then took out the Hob and finally the weaker goblins. Order of how dangerous the individual goblins were
the difference between overlord and goblin slayer is because the main protagonists are worlds apart of their ambitions,power,goals and genre.

They might be able to get away with it for some time but eventually RUclips will start to crack down. That's why my reactions of this is on Google Drive instead. Why take the risk?
Cutting is the shittiest possible way to deal with it. It's best to put a timer on the screen, with just the subtitle part cut out of the video and no sound. That way people can watch the anime in full on another screen/window/device while having the reaction alongside it.
In this reaction I had to pause it, pause the episode, sync it up, try the sync, sync it again, each time there was a cut.

I find the way SOS bro's are doing things now works best though i imagine its quite a bit of work editing. They put the subtitles in with a timer. The subtitles so easy to sync to that its absurd to complain about anymore. Timer's are tricky because you need the version they are using to get it right and if the video changes it fucks you. The subtitles never change however and even if they do you just need to sync to the sentence that means the same thing.
This is more like haitou geshou no grimgar. And guys please be careful for copyright striking. Learn to not on full reaction and use opacity to decrease the screen brightness for save or anything creatively

Its dark, but anyone whos seen Beserk, knows that series is much, much darker. This one should be a good series.
People always talk about darkness in series and compare it to berserk. I guess i just don't understand whats so dark about berserk.

If this were D&D, they're playing by the old rules ... low-level casters had it rough, just a handful of spells and you're done for the day ... 👺
Adventurers in that party made several mistakes that ended in a TPK: overconfident, improperly equipped, weren't looking for traps, split the party, failed at teamwork ... 🌢
well, it is stated that they're rookie, and from how they handle the the goblins, these rookie looks like they've never even killed before
Andhika Bayu Trimulya Next week starts my D&D campaign, level 1 group, but I'm betting none of them will make similar mistakes ... over the last month before game starts, I kept repeating variations of the same message to the players: don't split the party, focus on your teamwork and plan your escape strategy if you want to survive. 📢
I really hope they'll listen ... that and I don't roll two consecutive crit-hits in a row against the same character ... natural 20s come at the worst possible time ... ☠

The writer made the rape scene was so that the reader will HATE the goblins, The goblins cannot be left alone, if you give mercy to them , they will kill you. They did not have female goblins and that is why they need human female to breed.
Side note: I love how the darker it got, the more she became like Old Joseph Joestar.

***SPOILERS AHEAD, AGAIN, WARNING, SPOILERS***
Point of order: Spearman, and Heavy Warrior both signed up to be adventurers on the same day as Goblin Slayer. They both got to obsidian rank at the same time, because they were both part of a quest to clear the mines out of blobs and a Rock Eater (basically a 50 meter centipede that can, as the name suggests, eat rocks). This quest gave a crap load of XP, and pushed them over the limit to get to obsidian. Goblin Slayer did not do this quest, however he got obsidian at the same time. He got it through doing goblin quests (all but one solo). These give relatively low XP per quest, however, while other adventurers spent a week or more waiting for a good quest, he would occasionally take a day off from goblin slaying. He would do 20+ quests a month, sometimes multiple quests in a day if they were small and close together.
By the way, the quest he was on during the Rock Eater incident was one to save a village from wanderer goblins. That village had the girl that would become Hero Girl 5 years later.
Correct, he is the reason she became a hero and GS indirectly saved the world.

for those wondering why does he stab them even if they are lying down Goblins are Sort of like Trolls were they Can Regenerate so if left unchecked they could suddenly jump up from behind and ambush you also GS is in the Dark Fantasy genre so if you ever see that in the Anime Info section expect Some harsh things to happen.

It's not a messed up series or a messed up world.
It's just like any other worlds,there is good and there is bad.It's just that the anime focuses on the guy who dives straight in the bad parts of this world.

When I first saw it, it was gruesome. It brought me into a lot of debates on Facebook, and I understand it’s not for everyone. The four adventurers dynamic reminded me of Dragon Quest 3, but took a very bloody turn. They were like, “dis finna be a breeze”, but it all went to hell from there.

Rakinishu in Diablo 2 is technically a type of goblin.
They were not prepared!!! Look, it is honestly about time that an anime came out like this. Because all i see is how .... well kid-ish these MMO type anime have become. I mean sure some have great fight scenes and blood and gore...but this is true to LIFE. You take a LEVEL ONE healer, no potions, no prep and expect to go into a goblin den and come out alive...HELL NO!!! Goblins are very nasty creatures...I have been playing D&D before video games were even a thing, they are VILE. There are two options if they overwhelm you....A: You get brutally murdered and then chopped up and eaten (what happened to the warrior) or B: If you female they will keep you alive, rape you to death and THEN chop you up and eat you. And to all those in the comments complaining about the healer not healing them, she COULDN'T!! Heal has no effect on poison, NONE. As the slayer said, "you will only make her suffer worse" You see that they are sticking to D&D rules, none of this low level insta cast BS i always see, you have to recite the spell and concentrate, you break the concentration the spell will fail. Anyways keep the vids coming, cant wait till you see episode two!

i mean... having read berserk, this shit honestly amuses me... especially the "this wasnt the shit i expected" type of expressions on everyones faces when they reacted to this episode(iv watched other people react to this as well and the reactions are pretty much the same)... having read the goblin slayer manga, i actually love this series and am waiting for more episodes
Indeed, this series is good in how it portrays things realistically. But in terms of being messed up then yeah, this is nothing compared to Berserk.

I wouldn't say Overlord is light... it's just portrayed that way to show that the protagonist's personality is shifting. I mean, I'm not even through the third season, and he's killed over a hundred thousand innocent people.

Yeah but overlord skips and implies instead of showing these sorts of things. Atleast the anime and manga do. So they can't really call it as hardcore as something that actually shows you.
You can miss all the stuff happening in the background of overlord but Goblins are raping that girl right there. You can see it happen even though they made it slightly softer for the anime.

If MadHowse wanted they could made Overlord a true gore anime, the characters for that thing are already displayed :)
The overall reaction from almost everyone and this girl is what happens when you condition a certain type of anime to the viewers (lots of moe and shonen bs) then it slips between their animes a light seinen and they just flip the eff up

Goblin Slayer is somewhere in between Berserk and Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash in terms of dark and mature content. Great manga, and so far great anime way better than berserk atleast.

No she is well alive in the manga, just traumatized as heck. She is shown in the end of the chapter on the cart being towed back to the city or somewhere.
