It makes perfect sense that GS would have songs and tales about him; who else will defend the poor and desperate from monsters that no one except beginners take seriously? Of course villagers would know about him and love him, so of course the bard would make songs about the popular man, because people would love to pay to hear about such a popular figure.
Just as a short introduction to the corpses in the Elvin outpost, they were originally a 4 woman steel ranked adventuring party who took the extermination quest to save some kidnapped women. 1) Rhea scout, she was tied to a tree naked and used as target practice for her own bow and arrows. 2) Elvin Wizard, she savagely beaten and then burned alive. 3) Human Fighter, she tried to commit suicide by biting her own tongue off, but was suffocated when the goblins shoved her allies entrails down her throat. 4) Noble Knight, she was raped for three straight days before dying of her injuries and exhaustion.
Guild Girl can't deny a job to adventurers. If they are Porcelain and want to go fight a goblin nest, there's a chance (1/3) that they will come back, wich increases their chances to success later. Goblins are the weakest monster after all, there's no "lower" job. They know they can die on the job and should move like so. Like Goblin Slayer said, but those who are too cocky are the ones who die first.
I think there is lower job cause she wanted to send them to sewer probably hunt rats or whatever which would be good experience of fighting pack-enemies taking you by numbers and cunning.
That's not wrong to think they are as weak as animal because they are really are but the thing that most rookies get it's wrong is to assumed that goblin are stupid as animals. Goblin don't fight alone because they'e smart enough that they have strength in numbered and they are also don't fight when they don't confident that they will win.
@DarkEternal6 You're overestimated power of hobgoblin you know they are very much weaker than champion and very very much dumber than lord or paladin. Normally an party of well support rookies with enough luck(Gods roll good dice) should be able to deal with den that lead by hob or shaman with little difficulty.
Don't worry Priestess is going to be very useful, in fact she's an integral part of them, there would be no Team Goblin Slayer without Priestess. Wether he really cares about Priestess, well...I won't spoil it for you. Let's just wait and see. Cow Girl, she may not seem very useful or purposeful in the story, but she's very important. 1. She's the only one that has known GS from the very beginning, back when he's still human. They're both from the same town and share the same scar. They share a very strong bond. 2. She needs GS just as much as GS needs her, they both need each other. They're both each other's moral and mental support.
Isnt that just a guess? Im caught up with the manga and there hasnt been any development with cow girl yet, GS is already off the deep end constantly being obsessed with killing goblins unless there was development in the prequel manga which i havent read
Prodigy Huh? Which part was a guess from my part? What particularly do you mean by development? Pairing development or just general relationship development?
@@prodigous21 Well, Cow Girl is markedly less traumatized by reconnecting with Goblin Slayer, while he is... kinda less reckless, slightly more human, just a tiny, tiny bit.
I think Cow-Girl have a survivor guilt for Slayer because she leave him and make him suffer. Guil Girl in crush of Slayer because he take care of goblin job for her five years.
Cow-girl suffered from survivors guilt because she moved away one day before the raid that eradicated her home town. But learning that Slayer survived she regained her happiness.
Desk ladies are forbidden from refusing or advise agains adventurer taking quest, they can only advise alternative (according to the light novel). Goblin Slayer older sister was rape and killed in front of his eyes, while she was keeping him hidden under the floor. Goblin
You missed the point. It IS the same anime. The Goblins ARE always that bad. It means there's always someone out there who is in the same situation as episode 1, and it's because of Goblins. The only difference this time was that they didn't get to anybody---except in that back-story.
I didn't know it was all female, I thought there was a female in the group. Regardless, like GS said: "Imagination is a weapon. Those who lack it are the first to die"
It was less elaborate as the ambush from Episode 1, but they showed it in the manga. Goblins made an alarm trap using a dead body and a dangling sack of armour that got triggered when the STEEL-level adventurers found the body. Like the 1st ambush we saw, this world definitely punished stupidity. 1. Once again, they underestimated the goblins' ingenuity (the trap). 2. They DIDN'T CHECK their surroundings. No excuse like a dark cave either, as it was the SPACE SURROUNDING A FORT and they had a scout for Pete's sake. They were also STEEL adventurers, not porcelain. 3. The warrior of the group WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET, and was shot in the head by (most likely) the same goblin slinger who shot at Goblin Slayer in the episode. Without 1/2 their frontline they were doomed (well, even more doomed considering they let themselves become surrounded).
It won't take you long to get through the current available chapters online; I was able to read through them in a couple hours. I'll say now that though none of the plot has been nearly as dark as that 1st episode (i.e. Ch. 1 and 2 in the manga), you are DEFINITELY reminded of the stakes every time they go on a quest, so you are tense every time you get to those chapters. The fate of the all-female team is really only dedicated 3-4 pages (2nd half having no text) in the chapter (i.e. chapter 3?). You never see anything as 'explicit' as the 1st chapter, as most of the goblin encounter post-trap trigger was in bird's eye view (except when the warrior gets sniped at the back of her head). The massacre and debauchery that happens afterwards is also viewed in 1 or 2 panels in bird's eye view (though you know what's happening). They definitely simplified episodes 1 and 2, but it made them a bit more bearable for more sensitive audiences (e.g. the party members in episode 1 actually get FLASHBACKS before their fates). The manga also makes it clearer that despite how the adventurers view Goblin Slayer with disdain, he basically becomes a bit of a public hero, and the receptionists gratly appreciate his efforts (kind of hinted that they even hold some greedy Silver Ranks with disdain in conrast). However, while I haven't read the original LN, the LN is definitely a lot farther ahead. You MAY be interested in the prequel side story though, called Goblin Slayer: Year One, though it is still ongoing.
The tone hasn’t changed from episode 1 to episode 2. It’s exactly the same. It’s still a realistic depiction of hunting goblins, a creature that only reproduces through females of other races, that reproduces quickly, and have a tendency to swarm villages. Heck, this episode we had the Goblin Slayer describe how his home village was sacked, how his childhood friend’s parents were murdered, and how he had to watch his elder sister get raped while he hid, all while the two of them slaughtered goblins. Some important things established in episode 1 are goblin are not just green humans like in That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, experience is realistic, and death is for keeps. I’m enjoying it so far.
Most women catch feelings for him. He feels that since he couldn't save his sister from her fate he will never deserve love or happiness. And yes the Sword Maiden is in love with him.
The 1st episode merely establish the premise that in this dark world, consequences are extreme and dire. Failure to prepare or small mistake result in those consequence. You guys misinterpret the 1st episode, thinking that the anime was just purely shock value and forgot all about the narrative episode 2 had to offered.
Considering what content was cut that could've been in Ep. 2, it could've had a worse reaction than Ep. 1, considering there was a adventurer group of girls that attempted the same quest before our boy showed up. You can guess their fate.
Yeah... i guess i understand why the director decided to cut out some really gory shit like that. I mean... they could show that, but they would attract less people with such violence. Although i don't know.
I like how you two do reactions... you talk a lot about story elements and motivations rather "what I liked best" or "that was so awesome XD" it's too bad most of the episodes got taken down -_-
I heard good things about Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion and Golden Kamuy if you want more seinen stuff. Definitely gonna check them out when I get the time.
