Insane run. I love how you are casually running through the plains hammering mobs with a WOODEN club. Deathsquito: BAM you get the wooden club. Spear chucking fuling: BAM you get the wooden club. WOODEN club wielding fuling: you say to it, "Do you even know how to use that club?" BAM I thought not.

This run is so unique! At times, the level of confusion about what to do next reached almost Yolofian levels (Yolof ). It's always a blast watching you figure things out on the fly, it's both entertaining and educational! The moment you realized you could repair your spear without needing a swamp (5:11:30) was golden!
Some sweet boss RNG in this run! Stumbling across the skull and Yag’s altar, and finding Moder’s rune in the first structure you checked was huge! Also, finding Haldor relatively early, so that the belt was actually useful for a change, was a nice touch. The missing mining/lumber troll was a bit of a setback, but it turns out you’re a pretty skilled lumberjack and miner yourself! You handled that like the pro you are.
Moder not breaking silver for you was quite disappointing. As someone else already mentioned in the comments, wishbone only detects undamaged nodes. I really dislike the sound the wishbone makes. It clashes so much with the Nordic/Viking setting that I'd rather go stagbreaker prospecting than use the darn thing.
2:32:15 and 2:38:20 and 4:06:20 (phew!) I’m starting to see a pattern here: The more Lox you pet, the better your time gets! Maybe you should sneak up on a few wild Lox and pet them during your next attempt? You can't argue with that logic, right? Right? Nothing could possibly go wrong with that strategy and you'll be sub 12 hours soon!
I think about Yolof sometimes... He's just so... Alive! Would be a shame if something happened. Haha, naw, it's mostly I'm nervous to pick it up after so long because I don't remember what's going on lol. Guess I should re-watch the last episode.
Yeah, fantastic rng! You'll see in part 2 though that I'm not sure how much it does for us in terms of timesave. This is a bit of a weird one!
Yeahhhhh, I almost put floating text when I was complaining about silver. I guess I'm just a cynic looking for new audio bugs but I did eventually silently piece together what happened.
Haha! Maybe I'll give that a shot with the lox, this correlation seems hard to ignore!

On the vanishing silver, the wishbone only detects undamaged nodes. That's why it stops registering as soon as you pickaxe a node. Moder damaged the node but it wasn't quite where you thought it was, probably a bit further up the slope from the strength of the pings you were seeing initially, so Moder never broke it. The damage numbers on the terrain you were seeing looked to be on Moder's own ice spikes - are they are spawned in then take some residual damage from the breath attack maybe?

I normally am crocheting or crafting or doing wife things while listening in on your adventures. I watch intently to all the ways you do your boss fights....which I've only beaten two thus far....Modar gets me in a deathloop every time and I just give up. Anyway....hopefully someday we get to see you a bit more easily. !discord soon?

Not hardcore preset but I'll start making default setting deathless attempts at some point

I almost forgot how to do plains without OP armor! Oh jeeeez I just watched that last 5 minutes, yeah, that was pretty nuts! One of the thumbs technically has his back foot in the Pic but it's kinda weird because I'm doing the lunge attack. I think I like the one where "record" is on the left side of the screen better but I guess I just wanted to use the feature lol
@@ThreadMenace I ALSO like the one with the "record" on the left. Just an FYI, I've noticed that YT is switching them up pretty frequently and sometimes shows both (i.e. when I click on your playlist tab, then your "Real(ish) Valheim Speedruns" playlist, the top thumbnail is one version and the playlist thumb is the other - but only SOMETIMES. Other times it shows the same one in both locations). And also when I see it on my homescreen/sub screens, it changes. It's kind of a cool feature if you have two you can't decide between, and perhaps it might pick up a few more viewers...?
Once a silver vein (or anything the wishbone can sense) is 'damaged' it is no longer sensed by the wishbone as it figures you found it and don't need to locate it by sound. Also one of the most insane Moder fights, way to keep your cool.

Pet Lox % when? Essentially a trader speed run but with better priorities.
1:44:00 your no skill drain ended when your rested buff had 4:05 left. Then you ate food and 😢 only a couple seconds later.
Given you died at home, would it be worth it to just take a quick walk a couple meters to the side and leave a bunch of corpses?
The funny thing is that dangerous monsters like snakes appear after a certain time of life in this world.
5:25:17 I think chains drop in mistland dungeons off lights.
Word, gonna have to test drop rates. Chance this could come in handy!
The only places I’ve seen chains drop in the Mistlands are from cranes in Dvergr harbors and excavation sites. I’ve never seen them drop in Infested Mines.

Hey congrats! I will watch this a little at a time. What I really want to see, however, and I don't even know if it is possible, but all the bosses in reverse order.
Possible if you glitch into the queen chamber, since you can't possibly have the black metal required for a sealbreaker. The idea certainly has some appeal but kinda doubt I'll ever do it

@@protyusgames4741 that'll certainly be an ordeal but I've seen Zhaekus do it twice, and Archy and Scales have both done it. I haven't tried but sounds very possible

I have found silver ingots and other weird stuff in the pottery of the ashlands, but have not found a single black metal ingot. I was wondering if you have?

Given that first swamp crypt had a pretty decent amount left to give beyond the extra iron you took with you, what was your reasoning for sticking with lvl4 wooden club vs iron mace? Great run!!!
I was lacking the brain bandwidth? Haha, I dunno, would just put us in that place I didn't wanna be for longer for not much benefit. It would do a lil damage to Yag and bonemass and that's it, as far as I was concerned (turns out this was kinda wrong because later I thought I couldn't repair my spear but I could have repaired a mace and I was using the club on golems.
The very shortest answer I can give is that I'm not in the habit of adding stuff to the run, always looking to subtract
@@ThreadMenace that's a great answer! Less is more in your game. Maybe one day you'll be back in a situation of "too much iron in an otherwise garbage swamp" and you'll remember this hahaha
Conversely, I appreciate the addition of the bronze ax both for the fine wood chopping, but also for (the reason I think you even "allowed" it) the skills for Ashlands!

Thanks! Haha, naw. A good segment 1 eats up most of a day and I pretty much can do one of those per week. If I have a good segment 1 down then I squeeze in 2 4-hour sessions. Plenty of days with no play at all, finish every run I get somewhat deep into

Does it seem like Infested Mines have gotten more nuts since the Ashlands update? Almost like the devs tweaked the near-entrance seekers, soldiers, and ticks to be more plentiful and aggressive? Almost like the tweak was to prepare you for the onslaught of the Ashlands. XD
lol, right?! I know semi-recently there was an update that greatly increased the number of starred ticks, and i'm definitely feelin' that one. As for the rest the dungeons do seem wild but can't rule out that it might just be rng/small sample size/confirmation bias

How is loosing 10% of running (and other stats) from two suicided better than actually going back home or making a box?
Wish my game ran this smoothly .. what rig do you have? Is this PC or XBox? Graphics settings? I'm getting desperate here 😑
PC, I have a 3080 and a Ryzen 9 5600X and I believe in this run I'm playing at lowest possible settings, all options unchecked, with the exception of draw distance cranked up to max
4:47:55 maybe dig down and find the silver before the pull.also not bad to have a small hole for stone golem. You stand in the hole and pick axe while he’s on the ledge and he falls down. I get a stone golem everytime, you never seem to get them. Maybe you see them on the map prior.
I really try to just not wake up golems. Sometimes I do wake them and lead them out of render, other times I gotta deal with them

i do not think exploding copper by mining all rocks and copper to release it is bettter than actually mining only copper from two or three nods. I think volume of mining is much larger if you try to pop it up.
you should do Speed run with Hardcore mode that would be fun to see and no map :)

What is your graphics setting ? The mist seems quite manageable without the light
I think on this one I had every single setting at the minimum or off except for draw distance was cranked to the highest. Personally I don't think settings impact the mist much, the amount of mist there is tends to vary quite a bit in different areas of the mistlands

Why no chest armor ?
There's a 100% chance I'll be making a root harnesk so I I'd rather spend troll hide on upgrading armor I'll be wearing for a long time. If I made troll chest I would throw it away when I made root chest

How u get like 6-7 boars alwais and i barely find 1-2 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i gues the speer run strats 🤣🤣🤣
Speer is a huge help, yes, because it's so noisy and boars that I didn't even know were there just run at me. Also I'm really good at hearing them. Also, and perhaps most importantly, I cover tons of ground pretty fast; if you look at how much of the map I've explored in the first 15 minutes it's probably quite a bit more than the average player starting a world. I also make a concerted effort to walk close enough to lore stores for boars to render in, in case it's a boar stone.
