      You would not make a great officer.
      I am military and one of our qualities is we "jump into action". Just support the officers from home. A weak link kills the chain.

    • @wyattplayzgaming
      @wyattplayzgaming Год назад +93

      The person above this comment makes a fair point, however, there are programs to help you decide if police work is a good fit for you. If you are under 21 check if your local police department or sheriff's office has an explorer program. It's a good way to get involved with policing, learn about it, how to do it, and ultimately if that's what you want to do in life.
      Hope something there helped. Don't get discouraged by people online, but don't totally ignore them either. Take it into consideration but make your own decisions considering, after all, it's your life.

    The below comes with permission from the Wilt Family:
    We are pleased to share an update on Officer Nickolas Wilt, who was shot 4 weeks ago today when responding to Old National Bank shooting. Officer Wilt's condition has been improving steadily all week, and he remains on the correct path to recovery.
    We are happy to announce that Officer Wilt is officially off the ventilator and all other life-sustaining equipment. Additionally, he has shown neurological improvement and is able to follow some commands. While Officer Wilt is currently dealing with a few infections, he also shows improvement in those areas.
    Unfortunately, Officer Wilt still has pneumonia and other lung complications. His progress to this point is remarkable, especially when compared to where he was just two weeks ago. Officer Wilt is entering the "long haul" of his recovery, which will undoubtedly be difficult, but he remains strong and determined.
    We are proud to report that doctors are now talking about getting Officer Wilt into Neuro Rehab within the next week, which is a significant milestone in his recovery process. During a procedure today, it’s been determined the bullet is not a threat to the brain or its blood vessels. According to the doctor, the bullet is in a crucial area but for this type of injury the damage is minimal.
    The Wilt family and the entire (LMPD) family want to thank everyone for their tremendous amount of support and well wishes during this difficult time. We will continue to provide significant updates on Officer Wilt's condition as they become available.

      The guy with the rifle should probably retire after getting borderline getting the rookie killed. Leading the rookie in front of a glass wall he couldnt see through was an egregious mistake that was OBVIOUSLY going to go bad. He could have circled around, using the stairs as cover until he could get a look through the entrance. Instead, he abandoned cover in exchange for walking in front of glass he couldnt see through. Now we got a rookie with a bullet in his head.
      Edit: Those of you who are thinking that I meant for the cops to pull a Uvalde and stay put outside have no clue what youre talking about. The goal here is to get in a position to BEST enter the premises. You dont leave cover to walk in front of glass. You circle behind cover until you can get a look at the door, and you move POINTING YOUR RIFLE where youre exposed.
      Additionally, those of you who are saying that in such situations one "just has to go" are total morons. Guess who cant kill bad guys? Dead cops. At some point you have to risk your life. But that doesnt mean you have to soviet bumrush until you get shot up. Guys, THINK. And you're arguing for a tactic that CLEARLY FAILED. Walking in front of the glass made it a turkey shoot for the shooter.

    Donut, I was born and raised in Louisville, and still live within 30-45 minutes of the city. Most of my family still lives there. This was a tragic day for our town, for all involved, especially, and their loved ones, but also for everyone from the Derby City. Thank you for covering it without sensationalizing it, and for hailing all the officers-most especially Officer Wilt-for the heroes they are. And thank you so much for your personal donation. I know I'm nobody, relatively speaking, but this being my hometown, your compassion really touched my heart. By the way, as someone below said, Officer Wilt is doing well. He still has a long fight ahead of him, but he's speaking, laughing, standing, and making more improvements every day. My continued prayers are with him and his family, with the victims and their families, and with the shooter's mother-she lost her son, after all. Thank you for this video.

But also knowing that if it’s true, you’re losing your son in some way. Either by him being shot and killed by the police or himself, or being arrested and put in prison forever. Both of the officers were incredible members of our community, always showing up to events, interacting with everyone, all around good people. That woman calling out of a closet while hiding for her life was incredibly brave. She gave such a calm and coherent account of the situation and the shooter that I thought at first that she was one of the people who had witnessed it via video. Commendable as hell.
    (The officers who went in also deserve all the praise for their bravery, I don't want to downplay that in any way, but I was just struck by how admirably she performed during what was quite certainly indeed "the worst day of her life.")

      @@aceofblades4279everyone is different, a lot of the time in life threatening situations its easier to be coherent and act when you know you could die. most people would want to help others if they know they could die as well. its why you hear stories of people fighting back when they're being attacked with no chance of survival, its like on an instinctual level that we want to live and help those around us. that would explain why the people who were safe were in more hysterics.

    Even with that insanely fast and lethal response, multiple people still died and an officer is in critical condition. Just goes to show how insanely dangerous and chaotic these situations are.

    • @Immigrantlovesamerica
      @Immigrantlovesamerica Год назад +28

      The officer is in critical condition because the AR guy made a terrible call. He abandoned cover and decided to lead the rookie on a walk in front of a glass wall he couldnt see through. Anyone with half a brain would have kept cover behind the stairs and circled until they could get the door in sight. Instead he made a terrible call and got his rookie shot in the head.

      Also more reason that people need to be able to carry and defend themselves. Since it doesn't seem these types of attacks are going away anytime soon, as sick as that is to even think about. Someone there could have ended this in the time that it took to even dial 911.

      Well it's an open active bank and he has a rifle & it was unexpected, of course people are going to die if his plans are to kill. The initial victims that were encountered had no chance..

    • @m0n4rch911
      @m0n4rch911 Год назад

      @@Immigrantlovesamerica In his defense there was no way of knowing someone was there. They can't just sit still and wait for backup for better recon coz the only recon these officers get is dispatch or a civilian on site.
      If they waited they would let the ACTIVE shooter run around while the cops are cautious coz of glass. They could use the civilians as bait though, like pulling a Uvalde. The active shooter was dumb too since he just gave his position gunning down a cop which got him shot seconds later so dumb criminals are dangerous too.

Problem with US is the revenge and retribution culture where they don't focus on rehabilitating people nor helping them with their mental illnesses. No amount of gun restrictions will stop these murders so long as people want "justice" and "revenge"
