- It's been a while since we first released a video on the Z1 Motorsports VRX70 turbo kit for the VR30 Q50 and Q60. Now in 2024, we have installed and tuned the most Z1 turbos out of anyone in the world, so it is time we share our experiences on them. This video showcases two VR30s with the new updated VRX70B (ball bearing) turbos, which is a vast improvement over the old units. These combined with the brand new AMS dual low pressure fuel pump setup makes achieving that 700+whp goal so much easier!

Alex tuned my q60 a year ago remotely and could not be happier.
The car is very reliable and the tune is top notch.
Love watching his videos
Awesome to hear, more content coming soon! 🫡
thank you guys so much for your continued support of this platform. I think it's one of the best values on the market and IMO the best looking car of it's type on the market.
Thank you for the support! We still love the VR30 platform and still get excited when new products and support comes out for them (like the AMS dual pump & potential new EcuTek update), the platform still has so much room to grow and we’re here for it!
7:24 when he said you can remove the turbos on jack stands I felt that , all you gotta do is raise the car high enough after you remove the subframe to give yourself access to the turbos
Great info, nice to see the AMS Dual LPFP in action‼️ Looks like I’ll be grabbing one before the Z1 turbos get installed. Happy Friday fam 🙌
Thank you, hope u have a great weekend too! And yes, the AMS dual pump is a GAME CHANGER for the VR30.
What's the best injectors to go with ??
@@turbokidtbAMS Stage 2, there are new Stage 3’s but unsure of the drive ability tbh.
Such a good vid on this platform🔥
Great video fellas! Next month is a year since I came down from Oklahoma to get the e30 treatment, couldn't be happier! Car has been flawless!
Awesome to hear sir! Glad the car is treating you well, you’re always welcome down here. 😊
Great info as always. I'm still very happy with the VRX70's.
Your car been putting in work!
What's the best injectors to go with ??
I love the attention to detail and explanations, and very nice numbers! By the way, who's Saab 9-3 Wagon is that? Didn't catch if it was an Aero or not, but Saabs 2.8 turbo is a sick engine.
More great info guys! Pretty awesome and refined products coming forward for the VR30.
We are very excited at all the renewed support and vigor for the platform
Best episode yet!!!!!! I might be biased a bit!!!
😂🤝🤝
Omfg y’all blessed me on this Friday! Perfect opportunity to wind down and kick off the weekend with this video! Thank you!!!
You’re welcome 🫡
This is the info we needed at the end.
I want to know what was the ignition final with 26.1 psi manifold pressure at 7100 rpm to get 740 whp
Awesome video guys🤙🏽 rb the world
yeah i think imma keep my high flow cats. definitely sounds a lot better than free flowing
Agreed on the sound, but when it comes to opening up as much flow as possible, they’re often needed 😅
Hey guys...really late on this video. Just watched the whole thing. That last q50 hitting 740 has me reconsidering selling my redsport! That lpfp from AMS is a game changer.
Sorry for the late response on this, but yea man, cool to see there’s still new innovative parts coming out for the platform!
🔥🔥🔥 can't wait to get these
Waoo este canal me encanta y no puedo creer que estén tan cerca de mi en Texa tengo un Q50 y apreciaría llevarlo con ustedes
Come thru, shoot us an email at sales@goracebox.com if you have questions or want to schedule something.
Damm would z1s turbo be good to daily on 93? Also Hussain is right I test drove a 2019 m550i and almost traded my q
Yes, Z1 turbos have great wastegate control, being able to have full 8mm of wastegate to play with from wide open to fully closed with boost varying from 13-14 psi all the way up to 30+ psi if needed. The daily map will drive almost like stock with just a bit more power.
Yes it’s great for daily driver. Basically new z1 turbos with ecu tech stage 2 ,intake and axle back = 490hp to the wheels. Super fun to drive.
Question, were there any differences between intake temps for the front mount IC and the heat exchangers? Are there any advantages
if i buy the turbos will i need injectors and a lpfp aswell im not trying to do nothing crazy
simple just tune no e blend or anything
What’s the difference between a dual LPFP and just a normal LPFP ? If I purchased the dual would I be able to run e50 or would I still need to get a HPFP?
Dual pump flows much better and solves the fuel starvation issues when ur tank is low. You will still need to upgraded the HPFP and injectors, but this gives them much more headroom which allows more ethanol to be run when on upgraded turbos running high boost. For stock turbos, a single LPFP setup and a HPFP is enough to run full E85, we only have that in our Z.
Gonna need a quote on this fr
Hey! Shoot us an email at sales@goracebox.com, so we can get u an itemized quote based on ur specific needs. Ex. if u already have some parts that carry over to a setup like this, or u want to accomplish this with different parts than shown.
Okay OKAY I’ve been having my m37s and I’m looking into a red sport q50 WHAT YEAR MODEL ANND how many miles would you recommend to be below to put power on??
Any model year, they’re all pretty much the same. However always recommend getting the newest and lowest mileage u can find, so u start with a clean car.
How did you guys get your pump to work mine is not working properly 😢
The wiring is very involved and there’s a boost reference switch to activate the secondary pump if u opted for the dual pump, go over ur install again and check everything.
@@goracebox yessir I just figured everything out 🫡
What's the cost of this system? Also it doesn't make that much torque not good for me.
The torque is kept low to keep the stock engine together lol.
Good stuff
Always wanted to get into the vr30s and you guys are making great power on stock stuff.
Early on I heard a lot of horror stories with engine failures, has that been remedied with aftermarket parts or more refined tuning? Read in the comments that you guys are limiting low end torque which is the same thing done on my stock engine mqb. Just curious on the platform before I make the switch
Sorry for the late response! The platform has definitely come a long way since the early days. We were there in the beginning as well, and with more quality parts, better tuning strategies, and an educated community, the VR30 has never been more reliable than now in 2024. We have tuned 2500+ VR30s now, from bone stock cars, to bolt ons, to built engine/trans full frame turbos, and have seen every possible setup under the sun, so we know exactly what works and don’t, and we make recommendations to our customers accordingly. If ur looking for a comfortable daily that has great power potential, a Q50/60 is a great choice. The B58 is also great in this segment, and comes in a variety of chassis from 2 door coupes, to SUVs. We support and love both engines, hit us up if u get one! 🫡
What was all on this Q besides the two items in the title?
To make this power, you would need the usual supporting mods:
- HPFP: AMS Stage 3 or Spool FX-200
- Injectors: AMS stage 2 at the bare minimum, stage 3 preferred or Spool 2050cc
- Full downpipes
- Full catback exhaust
- Upgraded heat exchanger: AMS, Z1, PLM, etc (this car is converted to air to air, but not required)
- Upgraded intercoolers optional but recommended
- Flex fuel kit: AMS, Spool, or B6A
- Upgraded Omni 4 Bar MAP sensors to read proper boost readings and allow proper boost control
There will be other small things here and there but those are the main supporting mods needed for a 700+whp Z1 turbo build.
@@goracebox is is possible to hit 600whp on 91 with z1 turbos?
Nah man, you need ethanol for that.
What exhaust is on the Q50 on the video?
MBRP!
So realistically what’s the difference from just getting a tank to run the dual 450’s and just doing the wiring for them instead of speeding $1700… am I missing something here? Please educate me I don’t mind.
You’re correct, anyone can custom build a badass fuel system and have it work just as well. However, for most people, it is nice to have a comprehensive kit that includes everything and in this case, very nice hardware that they can just easily install. Furthermore, the price you pay when buying a product from us or people like AMS, also pays for the customer service/support, and their R&D efforts that pushes the platform further. 🫡
What about the journaled chra?
Those have been pretty much phased out by Z1 and the new ball bearing version is the way!
@@goracebox are they still good and reliable? Any issues?
@bamthechamp unfortunately they result in oil pressure issues at high boost and high rpm. But z1 will change them out for the BB cartridge for anyone who has them. Great support.
@@goracebox thank you. I will give them a call.
Is this on the stock engine and transmission?!!
Yep!
Dual Pump on a factory 5/16" line?
Have you tested a large line?
Not yet! The current fueling provided with the dual pumps and stock lines is more than enough to max out the stock engine, so honestly no real need to go bigger.
How much would this package deal cost??
Depends on what you already have, most basic bolt ons can be carried over, and also depends on the brand of parts. If you have to start with a bone stock Q, you’re looking at around $18-20k with all parts, labor (engine out), and custom tuning. Hit us up for an accurate quote based on ur setup and preferences! 📧: sales@goracebox.com
What do i need to make 500whp?
Thanks 😊
Full downpipes, catback, intakes, heat exchanger, LPFP, flex fuel kit and E30 can get you 460-480whp and around 500wtq on stock turbos. Add a HPFP to run full E85 u can be right at around 500whp.
@goracebox thanks for respond! if i drop the car and have you do it, parts labor out the door cost?
Depends on the specific parts u pick (or we can pick for u with parts we carry), shoot us an email at sales@goracebox.com and we can get u a proper quote!
the end was hilarious good to see more support for this inferior platform
Ayo don't put words in Hussains mouth 😪 we love the vr30. We're glad to see better parts coming out
The transmission can take this power?
Yesss, and more!
Are these safe/conservative numbers for stock motor?
This is the most we’ll push these cars to on the stock engine, keeping torque right at around 600. Past that is where we start seeing failures. We have tuned to most Z1 turbo setups out there, and with the ball bearing version we have yet to see one engine failure!
What the starting price to swapping 3.0 turbos ina q50/q60 bro? Been curious about it for a lil while
We charge $2450 to install Z1 turbos, that includes dropping the engine, removing existing turbos, installing new turbos, swapping over all hardware needed, and reinstalling everything. For other turbo installations, hit us up for a quote!
@goracebox I'm assuming thats for labor only 😂
I got 19 q50 awd i want to make around 600-700hp I would like quote if possible thanks.
Yes, that’s labor only. Please shoot us an email with ur information and we can better help you there! 📧: sales@goracebox.com
is this stock motor
Yessir, bone stock. Been tuned on upgraded turbos by us for over 3 years now and was tuned on stock turbos prior to that.

This is awesome. What's the price of happiness?
It’s quite a bit for this setup since it’s comprehensive, full fuel system, turbos, turbo back exhaust, cooling, plus install and tuning labor, ur looking at close to or around $20k to make 700+whp if u start from a completely stock car. If ur already modded, most supporting mods will carry over. Hit us up if u would like a more detailed answer or an itemized quote! 📧: sales@goracebox.com 📱: 832-786-9038

i heard a tuned vr30 won’t last 90k miles even wit frequent oil change 😢
I can tell u don’t know bout cars …
@@tepelkua More than u
Tuning a car will of course add more wear and tear on any car compared to stock, and even a stock car will blow up with abuse. We have countless examples of customer cars thriving at way more than 90k miles, if that’s ur standard of measurement for a reliable vehicle.
I would think proper tuning would help longevity. More specifically after adding bolt ONS, cause you're fine tuning air/fuel, spark ect so the engines running at optimum levels. Possible driver error beyond that, with constant burnouts, rev limiter bounces and whatever else..
I have an 05 G35 Sedan 6spd full bolt on, tuned on 93, with over 250k miles and even though the tune still needs some tweaking, she runs great! I also don't beat the crap outta her, saving that for after VHR and boost swapping. Lol
