  • This is the companion video to "Practice Makes Perfect 1" and I answer the commonly asked question, "So where should I fish? I break down the various structures in the video and explain how, when, and why I would fish them for the various species available in my location(s). I may decide to make "Where's The Fish" companion videos for each future "Practice Makes Perfect" beach video I do in the future depending on subscriber response.

    I have more than 20 years doing surfcasting in the beachs of Portugal...and what This man shares here is probably the Thing that when there was no RUclips,fóruns,internet...and no One with experience to help would take years,and years to understand...so Many mistakes, so Many frustation because a lot of the fishing nights Lost were in vain...
    This is probably the best content that i have seen on youtube...understand the sea and winds os the secret that most of People dont want to Share...
    You deserve a medal Sir...

      Hi Hugo. Funny you say that because it took me decades of fishing to learn what I take for granted now. One of the things I tell people is that learning to fish is a life long journey, so enjoy the ride, savor every new experience and victory. The learning never stops and there are no short cuts. I try to explain to people as best I can, but they still have to go and walk the beach, see the water, smell the bait in the wind, develop their skills, and learn. And it should be fun.

    I want to thank you for all your time, energy, and effort that goes into putting these videos together. I have just now started my journey in fishing the surf, I live in central Pa. and cannot get to the beach as often as I want to. Finding you has been like hitting the jackpot for me. At 60 I really appreciate the " shortening" of the learning curve you are providing me. Having been fishing for 50 years I'm excited about all the unknowns that in front of me!

      Making the transition from fresh to salt. Although the venue is different, the strategy remains the same. A rip or eddy in a stream is no different than a rip or eddy in the ocean. The backside of a trough to a striped bass is the same as the backside of submerged log to a trout. Enjoy the ride and the thick, rich smell of salt air, particularly when the smell of fish pops up on the breeze.

    In my comment here i just want to give suggestion to you that it will be better if u provide cross section view illustration TOGETHER WITH EACH top view illustration.

    Good to hear your voice again. Thanks to your video's i figured out how an old man beat me fishing 17 to 1 the first time and 15 to 1 the second time. He had a natural hole he spiked to poles down one to the left and one right to keep people from casting into it. And in front of me was an oyster bed lol. I went home typed in how to fish from the beach and within 2 of your video's i understood TY you helped me solve the mystery of 32 to 2 lol sounds like a Scooby Do mystery

      Hi Thomas. Good story and thanks for the chuckle. Fish definitely don't do random. It's not always easy, but the more tools you have in your toolbox, the more likely you catch fish when you go out, and knowing what the bottom contour is doing by observing waves is one of those useful tools. Thanks for watching.

      Hi Andrew. It was good talking with you. I got my first carp today in back of Olive Garden. The females were loaded with eggs so they'll be spawning soon. BTW, when we were talking about the surf, you can bucktail pups from the surf in May. Also, although I haven't fished for them, I think Black Drum are around in the Spring. I should look at that. Ocean's East II on Northhampton is a good place to get info.

    I have watched I donot know how meny of your vedios. I under stand the structures and how you fish them. I understand how they are made and how the water can change them. What I have not been able to grasp is when I look at the waves what they are telling me. Is there a vedio I can watch I missed that will show me? Do you have drone pictures that show and explain what I am looking at. If there were no waves I could see the features and know how to fish them. I am an inlander and do not get to fish the beach often

    • @richtroxler
      @richtroxler  Год назад

      Hi Steve. Mu only suggestion would be to watch the first in the series called "Understanding Wave and Wave Action." It explains how waves interact with the bottom so by looking at how and where waves are breaking can tell you what the bottom contour looks like. I also describe this with a useful diagram in my video on holes and points. It's strange at first but once you get it, actually see it in action, then you don't see waves anymore, you see bottom contour lol.
