First off let me say you are answer to a prayer that I had been praying. There are few videos that address an interventionist’s classroom/space. It is also affirming that you are using an OG approach to teaching phonics instruction. I am a K-2 reading and math interventionist at me school. I received training in OG about six months ago and implemented some of the curriculum towards the end of last year. OMG! I and the kids loved it! I am so excited for this upcoming school to fully implement it. I am so glad to hear that you take the first couple of days/ weeks to build routines for students. That is exactly what I was going to do as well. Setting expectations early on sets the remainder of the lesson and the year. Kudos to you. I am definitely a subscriber of your channel please continue to post ideas and routines. It is so needed for teachers of color.❤

I've just tuned into the video and as a 9th year teacher .. I realize teacher education needs to be revamped.. Watching how you have the camera at POV (location) is key and two if I was sitting next to you as a learner I would be engaged and etc. Like this is insightful and your approach is what's needed in teacher education. Bless you sister.

Thank you very much! This is honestly one of the nicest comments I've received! Let's make learning fun and engaging again! The babies deserve at least that much :-)

I will be teaching Pre k as a lead which will be my first time next year. I have been watching a lot of other teachers vlogs, just trying to get some ideas on how I will set up my room and just to get some inspiration. I absolutely love your small group idea. I am not sure how I would incorporate the folders, but I think I can come up with something. Thanks for sharing this❤

I love the bins you put group stuff in. Where are they from?

I got them from Big Lots, but I'm sure you can find something similar on Amazon

Hi do you mind sharing how you book keep or keep track of your students/lessons....I get anxious every year because I teach k-6 using different programs...Fundations, LLI, PAF, Wilson, Comprehension guided groups, and of course progress monitoring. I am not the best at staying organized. Every year I look for a planner to meet my needs and I am disappointed because it does not offer what I need. I teach 1:1 to groups of 6. Some people can easily see how to manage it. That is not my strong suit.

Honestly I am naturally very organized. I love to color code things, make charts/lists, etc. I do find that it helps to keep a small folder or portfolio for each student and add notes to help track their progress. Hope this helps!
