- Planning small group or guided reading lessons can take a long time - especially if you’re doing it every week!
In this video, I share the 1 strategy that has made a HUGE difference for me. It’s helped me plan my lessons quickly and easily, without the back and forth of “what should I work on with this group?”
Get the small group guide I showed in the video by joining the Kindergarten Literacy Club or 1st & 2nd Grade Literacy Club! We accept new members twice a year, but you can get on the waitlist anytime here:

Thanks for sharing the Small Group Instruction binder.
Have you ever had students work on a word independently for a while, but then you realize they didn’t even know what the word said? - tell me YES in the comments if this has ever happened to you!
Can you please make a full plan for one week for Kindergarten.
Hey there! You can sign up for a free one week trial of my From Sounds to Spelling phonics program and receive a week's resources here - www.fromsoundstospelling.com/freebie
Otherwise, I have a lot of Guided Reading lesson plans already done for you available for purchase on Tpt - www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Learning-At-The-Primary-Pond-Alison/Search:guided+reading
I have 3 groups and sadly I only have 6 minutes with each group because of when we do our reading groups. Our early morning time has been divided so much with teaching time and specialist classes.
Oh yikes!! You may want to consider only seeing 2 groups a day (or even 1!) and doing a rotating schedule. I bet it's super hard to get a lot in during that short of a time frame.
I try to have 3 groups daily - 20-25 minutes each group
The Literacy Club was a life saver for me! As a first time grade 2 teacher, the resources saved me so much time planning for my small reading groups.
So glad to hear!!
20 minutes a group, one rotation
