I have watched a few of your videos now, and I am so impressed! Whoever said, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" had never met you. Thank you!!! Blessings! :)
You can also start with the egg in the strainer before putting it into the water. This way the runny part of the egg white is removed and the water is less messy. A tip from Sohla.
I put slices of lime, lemon and mint in ice cube trays, with water of course and then freeze them. Great for drinks. Your ideas of wrapping cheese in parchment paper and squirty bottles for pancake mix are brilliant.
The idea of using old squirt bottles for the pancakes is genious!!! I LOVE pancakes but making from scratch every time is hard plus you get a great way to put the batter into the pan =)
Genius! I love poached eggs, but never thought to cook them in a strainer. And I need more ice cube trays for tomato paste, chicken broth - everything where I have to open a jar and hope it doesn't go bad until I have a chance to use it again. Many thanks.
My mom was a left over genius with I was small and im 65. She used I've treats for all our left overs and then at the end of the week, she threw a bunch of the cubes in together for a stew!
Hi , Well I didn't know that , Not even after working for eight years with one of the most sought after chefs in the country who catered for the local Aristocracy in a gorgeous Manor House in the Wylie Valley. His Corvette de Mer and Salmon En Croute were unbeatable. I always peel off the first and sometimes second layer of my onions cos they are so tough. Thanks for your comment xx @@baghiballsakh82
They're not always tough, it depends on the onion and indeed on how you're cooking it. Generally speaking you'd discard the first layer. I've cooked for royalty. One of the most memorable times was in San Francisco. Doesn't say much for the UK monarch but it was a good time,
You take ice cube trays to a whole new level. I’ve put dollops of tomato paste on a baking sheet and freezing them. But your way keeps them uniform size. I must try that. After watching another one of your videos, I filled a muffin pan with water and put it in the fridge. giant ice cubes for my iced tea! Thank you. I always love more ways to use things multipurpose.

Ice cube trays are useful for so many things, and not just in the kitchen! I use them to keep my many earrings neat and easy to find. No more going through a container looking for matching pairs or earring backs! Keep singletons in their own cubicle. It saves lots of time searching in vain for nonexistent pairs or the right back.
It's 6am in New Zealand, just getting ready to have breakfast so will try your poached egg tip now, it will sure make cleaning the pot easier. I do enjoy your kitchen hacks. Thankyou.
Alison… 6am in Sydney.. hope you enjoyed your poached egg. I just had peanut butter and honey on toast…. lazy!! 😝. I love his ‘hacks’ (such an annoying word… don’t know where it came from!!) 😮 enjoy you day
@@Royalty12345 Hi Jennifer, it worked a treat, only problem was I usually have two poached eggs and only have one seive in the draw, so breakfast took a bit longer than usual. Best thing was there was no water residue to mush my toast and I could place the egg on the toast straight from the pot. Eggs are so damn expensive here now, just over $1.00 for a size 7 egg, so one is probably the financially viable option for the future. Best wishes from across the Tasman.
To cool giant sized drink dispensers, we freeze water in empty margarine or plastic containers. Make the drink in the cooler extra strong, then dump in the blocks of ice. They’ll melt diluting the drink and will perfect at the time of your large gathering.
Great 💡 ideas. Thank you. I clean my microwave after I use a lemon. I place left over lemon in a cup of water and run microwave for 5 minutes. Let it cool off completely. After 15 minutes or so, I wipe it clean, and it smells great.
Don't cut off the moldy layer if your cheese is just slightly moldy. Wet a cloth with full strength vinegar and rub the mold off. It will stay clean for long after the treatment.
@@WebspoonWorld I learned this from an artisan cheese maker. He rubs off the mold from his cheeses with vinegar at least once a month and more often when he sees a problem.
The only thing to be cautious of with the sharpener is that it is visibly 45°. Not all knives should be sharpened at that angle. This is 22.5° on each side. Many knives are better sharpened to 20° or even 15°. Still a great, inexpensive hack! You could even make it with more or less coarse sandpaper to further refine the edge! 👍👍

When chopping onion keep a bowl of water next to your chopping board etc. The part of the onion that makes you cry is magnetised to the water. Tear free chopping.
Nutella trick would benefit from teaspoon or two of some alcohol, cognaq, brandy, kahlua, cocoaliquer, ... ethanol keeps the ice crystals smaller, better consistency. Have to admit, it steers to a sliightly hifi 😅.
Indeed, adding a small amount of alcohol such as brandy, cognac, brandy, kahlua or kokoaliker can add extra flavor and flavor characteristics when making a Nutella trick. 🤗
As a trained chef I knew most of the hacks but, as my dad always said "You never know what you don't know until you know it." Thanks.

Yes, same with me.
Yep...agree 100%!
I'm rather disappointed, most of the hacks are shit and u don't cut the onion, u chop it
The poaching idea in the strainer, that’s very smart, but then I wouldn’t expect anything less from this wonderful gentleman!
You can also start with the egg in the strainer before putting it into the water.

That’s how cheese was bought and sold before plastic was invented.
The idea of using old squirt bottles for the pancakes is genious!!! I LOVE pancakes but making from scratch every time is hard plus you get a great way to put the batter into the pan =)
And you can use them to create pancake pics. Drawing with the batter.
