    All driver error! Put all terrains on and an experienced driver through terrain like that and it would be super easy! This video makes the Juke look like a chump when it's all driver error! Shoulda did research but oh well to each his own.....

    Wow, this guy needs some "off - road" lessons. Off road fun means traction! I don't care if you have a jeep rubicon or hummer, tires are everything. The video shows some weak looking tires on the Juke. You need an off road tire. Second, doesn't this vehicle have a rear dif lock? I know its listed in the specs on one of the 2015 models. Third, ground clearance is a good thing. The car doesn't have enough, so it's limited.

  • @radrcer
    @radrcer 11 лет назад +4

    I only like the juke that they installed the GTR engine, but I think it cost $200K. As for offroading the juke: 1) it needs offroad tires 2) vehicles with low ground clearance cannot drive in ruts. Had the guy crossed the river with a little more speed and not driven in the wheel tracks he would not have high centered. My Honda civic can go on most forest roads simply because when there is a deep run I don't put my tire in it.

  • @drivingsports

    The difference between 7" and 9" of ground clearance makes all the difference in the world, that plus better angle of approach on the Xterra (33.2) vs. the Juke (27). Off the rut was a much more dangerous approach for that particular spot and it wasn't our car to destroy in the process of testing.

    The same segments are often re-distributed through the rest of our network (RUclips is one of our smallest audiences) and those other audiences don't get the full episodes, so they don't get the double postings like you do on RUclips. Today we pushed #9 into rentals so this segment is the freebie that will stick around. Now, we could just post new episodes as direct into Rental, but we'd rather give our core subscribers here on RUclips an opportunity to see them before their limited.

    The juke is a dirt rally car. Not a muddslinger or rock crawler. And using street tires wont help any vehicle. Do it again with some mudd tires. If you wanna turn it into an off roader give it a 4 inch min lift. The juke is awesome. Kiss the frog!

    Did you read what I said? IN THE SEGMENT. Dude, I am a telecomunication engineer, and I do know what is serious off roading, because my job requires to visit places with very difficult ways to access it, deep mud, rivers, rocky roads, places where you need low range and a good 4x4 car, like a modified pick up truck. I know the Forester is not a rock climber, but dude, who is talking about that? This videos shows the most common off road situations SUV/Crossover buyers will try with their cars.

    Dude, you're trying with Street tires, no grip at all. Also, your technical approach was aweful. The juke has the power to overcome that small Hill. I've take one closer to an active volcano than you imagine. And the Juke gave me a great ride. Just take the right tires and have a good tech to overcome any trouble.

  • @WoZIMoo
    @WoZIMoo 12 лет назад

    Snow, mud, ice, sure. Medium-duty is fine too. Heavy-duty not so much. With no fully locking differentials, limited ground clearance/attack angles and no low-range Subarus won't make it through bigger rocks, steep/slippery inclines or even very thick mud. It all depends what you call "offroading." The trails I know, most people would shit themselves thinking about going with their ATV.

  • @georgearmerding
    @georgearmerding 12 лет назад

    One might think this video is a waste of time but it actually tells you a lot about the chassis and suspension. Like how it lifts its rear wheel at 3:50. it shows the has little travel. It has less then an inch more ground clearance at 7" then say a 04 wrx at 6.3. Interesting, especially to Juke owners

  • @justinneill5003
    @justinneill5003 4 года назад

    Have to agree with comments below, the tyres were the first thing that sprang to mind. A set of ATs would have made the difference needed. But let's face it, who is deliberately going to go off roading in a Juke? What I'd really like to know is the maximum wading depth, when you unintentionally find yourself on a flooded road? The river in this video had quite a current, and a rocky bed, but the water itself was only around 10cm deep which gives no clue. I know the ground clearance of the car is 1.8cm but can find no reference to the wading depth in the car specifications anywhere; I've heard some say they had it up to the door sills but no mention of the conditions (if there was a current or any water disturbance which could splash up higher.) With nothing else to go on, I guess that means 1.8cm is the maximum you can be sure of, which doesn't seem that great, it's probably standard compact hatchback territory. But maybe that's because I'm used to my normal drive (Toyota Land Cruiser) with a wading depth 4 times higher (70cm) as standard.

    the JUKE is not the problem
    it's the DRIVER

  • @lawnmowerdude
    @lawnmowerdude 12 лет назад

    Do you know why, because most people don't do this. The awd systems on a crossover arnt meant to traverse steep muddy grades and go rock crawling. They're made for slippery road conditions with light off road use. Also what do you consider a real 4x4? Because they still make plenty of those things. The only thing I see disappearing are the mall crawler truck based SUVs that never saw mud one day in their life.

    Nissan wanted to make a direct WRX/Lan EVO competitor but the higher-ups said, "not unless its a CUV because everyone likes CUVs". I'm somewhat convinced the Juke would have looked better lower and less tall, as a car, than this CUV.

    The hosts driving sucks. You knew you'd need AWD, yet waited until you spun to engage it? That's silly because you lose momentum.
    And trying to go up the other side in the ruts? By spinning you did worse for that trail and ecosystem then had you trampled a few grass blades and set the tires up on top instead of running in the ruts.
    Give me a Juke. I'll off road it. Hell, I could off road that with a Crown Vic!

    But they have been proved on really bad off road terrains with really good results. Since the Symetrical AWD system is full active a not reactive, plus the fact that the system can send all power and torque to just that one wheel with best traction, it is a clear that it is very capable, even though it is not considered a serious off roader. It can go where others cars in the same segment cant go.

    The Juke does not have enough ground clearance and has not the necessary overhang front and rear, to drive this hill. For this reason, I would put down to increase the ground clearance and not on the track. Then society also the Nissan Juke over this obstacle.If you're going off-road driving, then you switched previously a four-wheel drive and if you do not already in the obstacle. It hurts me in the soul, just as the driver is driving with the Juke.

    There are only two real AWD System out there: Subaru Symetrical AWD and Audi Quattro (with its little brother, the VW 4Motion).
    Try to do the same test with a Forester, it would have climbed the hill with no problem, why? Because it is capable to send all the power and torque to the wheel with best traction, not wasting it on spining wheels.
